This is what normal skin of a 30+ woman looks like without makeup!

I thought this was a rash for so long (doctors ruled out eczema, acne, and rosacea, had treatments for all 3, none worked!) but I asked an AI if this is normal skin for someone 30+ and it told me it's very normal for women 30+ to get red, stinging and bumpy skin like this! When I was 18 my skin was the same colour as my philtrum and that white area just under my bottom lip.I got the big pores and leathery skin in certain lights in the areas that are redder. I miss having my teenage skin back when my skin tone was even LOL

Posting this here since I know these days it's so easy to be misled what normal skin looks like because of filters, heavy makeup, and whatnot. This is untouched, unfiltered, natural, NORMAL skin for a 30+ woman with fair skin and I am proud of it!

No. Not normal. Have you seen a doctor/dermatologist?

LivelyGreyShark · 27/06/2026 00:53

that isn't normal and looks painful, have you seen a consultant derm?

LifeOfAShowgirl13 · 27/06/2026 00:54

I’m glad you’re happy in your skin OP, but I honestly don’t think that stinging skin is normal. My face looked like that when I had a reaction to benzoyl peroxide. Are you using any products on it atm?

I have! Acne, rosacea, and eczema have all been ruled out! It's normal. Can be irritating at times, I have to be really careful about rubbing my face with a towel or one of the bumps can bleed LOL we've all got to age, though!

your skin barrier looks damaged, go back to simple basics.

Hi!

My skin barrier is normal and intact! I'm not using anything on my skin besides the simplest of soap.

Right, so you aren’t as much asking if it’s normal as telling us all it is?! There’s clear inflammation.

As you age, background levels of inflammation naturally increase. I'm not 18 anymore so I'm not going to have perfect skin.

And that’s not aging.. It’s inflamed, red skin.

DressOrSkirt · 27/06/2026 00:56

I'm not an expert, but I'm in my 30s and my skin does not look like that.
Do you wear makeup? Could it be a reaction to it?

spstchmu · 27/06/2026 00:56

Not normal sorry. May be normal for your skin type? AI likes to agree with and placate you. Its unlikely to tell you its not usual because... its not a dr

I’m not sure that regular bleeding indcicates a healthy skin barrier :s

Tootiredtofuction88 · 27/06/2026 00:57

Hmmm. Well why post? That’s not “normal” skin hue or texture. You clearly have some kind of inflammation/flare up. But whatever. Hope you get it sorted.

Apileofballyhoo · 27/06/2026 00:57

I'd stop using that soap.

Inflammation increases with ageing. The skin is an organ so is typically the first organ to show outward signs of ageing..

Your skin barrier isn't normal/in-tact - that looks sore. Your skin looks very sensitive, in fact you might to research detergent allergy, even if you aren't using soap or detergents on your face if you\re using handsoap or shampoo then that can trigger a facial reaction - i'm sorry a doctor has told you this is normal, its really not.

AutumnAllTheWay · 27/06/2026 00:58

Thats not a normal part of aging. Not sure 30 is really aging at all, its your prime really

I only wear makeup occasionally. This began long before I started wearing makeup though!

I don't use soap as I get a reaction, could you try just water for a few days? I use rose water but would try putting nothing on your skin for a week to see if there's any difference.

Tootiredtofuction88 · 27/06/2026 00:59

You are in denial OP. That’s clearly some issue with your skin. But sure whatever. It’s normal aging.😂

I did, nothing happened. It's not a reaction, it's been like this for years.. basically as you age, your telomeres shorten, this increases background levels of inflammation and your skin is an organ so is the first part to show outward signs of ageing. So it's normal for skin to be a little sore and irritated, I'm not 18 anymore so it'd actually be ABnormal to have perfect skin at my age..

Can i suggest a super cheap solution, Dove sensitive bar
(detergent free soap) for cleansing and Childs Farm eczema friendly mositurizer - will cost less than £5 for both from Asda and last 3 months.

It was AI that told her it was normal, not a doctor!
I agree it could be shampoo/other stuff from showers or baths.

Edited

Inflammation doesn't increase to those levels! You could have a hormonal imbalance.

Your skin looks incredibly sore and angry, it's not normal and nothing to be proud of. You're only in your 30's.

Please go to a dermatologist and don't rely on AI for health or skincare advice.
