This is what normal skin of a 30+ woman looks like without makeup!

I thought this was a rash for so long (doctors ruled out eczema, acne, and rosacea, had treatments for all 3, none worked!) but I asked an AI if this is normal skin for someone 30+ and it told me it's very normal for women 30+ to get red, stinging and bumpy skin like this! When I was 18 my skin was the same colour as my philtrum and that white area just under my bottom lip.I got the big pores and leathery skin in certain lights in the areas that are redder. I miss having my teenage skin back when my skin tone was even LOL

Posting this here since I know these days it's so easy to be misled what normal skin looks like because of filters, heavy makeup, and whatnot. This is untouched, unfiltered, natural, NORMAL skin for a 30+ woman with fair skin and I am proud of it!

Inflammation doesn't increase to those levels! You could have a hormonal imbalance.

Your skin looks incredibly sore and angry, it's not normal and nothing to be proud of. You're only in your 30's.

Please go to a dermatologist and don't rely on AI for health or skincare advice.

My hormones were tested recently and have all come back normal!

Its nothing to do with age, your skin barrier is damaged and needs some tlc

I did, nothing happened. It's not a reaction, it's been like this for years.. basically as you age, your telomeres shorten, this increases background levels of inflammation and your skin is an organ so is the first part to show outward signs of ageing. So it's normal for skin to be a little sore and irritated, I'm not 18 anymore so it'd actually be ABnormal to have perfect skin at my age..

Are you parroting AI with your replies?

If the skin barrier is damaged, it takes a few weeks to heal. My skin has been like this for years now! So it's not my barrier. I'm not putting anything on my skin besides Simple soap each night and I occasionally wear makeup. My skin was like this long before I started wearing makeup.

I'm in my 50s and my skin is nothing like that. That looks uncomfortable, OP. I don't think that is normal.

Ageing can come with uncomfortable parts...but I accept that. Perhaps you have good genetics!

What are you hoping to get here OP?!

NoelEdmondsHairGel · 27/06/2026 01:06

This is some weird kind of rage air, surely.

Whatever is happening to OP’s skin is not a normal consequence of aging. It looks more like a medical condition which is not being properly treated.

I do have good genetics but I do also have rosacea. My skin still is nothing like that, not even close, and I think it could be helped because it looks uncomfortable.

I was inspired by TikTok videos where women post raw, unfiltered videos of what they look like without makeup, since the internet has been plagued by filters that has warped people's ideas of what normal faces/skin looks like. Having imperfect skin is nothing to be ashamed of and women should be allowed to age!

It is uncomfortable at night, it stings and tingles! But I get on with it. It's a reminder that I've lived 30 plus happy years. Some people don't get to say that.

I don't know anyone who's skin looks like that (except if they've had a reaction to something). Why do you think this would only happen to women and not men?

Could it be your laundry detergent? What kind of pillowcases do you use? Have you done allergy tests?

Please keep going back to your doctor and don't trust AI.

Tootiredtofuction88 · 27/06/2026 01:09

No one is saying your skin should be perfect. However you are saying this is normal inflammation and aging. You are covering your ears to everyone saying it’s not, going to”lalala”. Cool. Cookie.

NoelEdmondsHairGel · 27/06/2026 01:09

No one’s saying you should be ashamed of it OP but it is not normal and looks like it needs treatment.

Hi!

All medical conditions have been ruled out. I've had treatments for acne, rosacea, and eczema. Nothing changed with my skin!

Are you rage baiting? I’m late 30s and my skin and that of my close friends and family of similar ages isn’t like yours at all. My 70yr old mother has clearer skin.

Either you’re looking for reactions or you’ve been sadly misinformed.

Your skin isn’t blotchy and red because of age, that’s a cop out.

Women can experience ageing differently in some respects compared to men. Women have less collagen in their skin and are more prone to inflammation in ageing.

Makeup and filters have been so prominent that lots of people have forgotten what normal skin looks like, to the point that when they see normal skin they think there must be something wrong with it.

I've had allergy tests done. I've used different detergents and nothing has changed with my skin.

My skin was similar, focused more on my cheeks. It was only when I had a period of not eating for 2 days and then barely eating for the following days (grief) that it cleared up. Once I was able to actually think about it I realised that likely meant it was caused by something in my diet - tried cutting out dairy first and it turned out to be that.
My skin is the clearest its ever been now in my mid 30s.
Obviously there could be many causes, but its definitely not normal.

tinyspiny · 27/06/2026 01:12

Sorry @imgettingolder , that might be your normal but I’m almost 60 , fair skin and it certainly isn’t my normal and never has been .

I don't wear makeup, most of the women I know don't wear makeup on a daily basis, and none of them have skin like this, even my friend with rosacea.

The fact that you are saying it's sore/tingly is really concerning.

Giraffehaver · 27/06/2026 01:14

I am considerably older than you and my skin has never looked like that. Yours is not just a symptom of ageing. It looks sore

I know it seems concerning at first but it's not causing me any harm at all. It's a mild annoyance, and it's how I know it's past 8 PM if I've lost track of time LOL. Sometimes it feels a bit like I've got stuff crawling on my skin? Referring to the tingling.

It tingles/stings at night because at night your cortisol drops so if your skin is a little bit sensitive due to higher baseline inflammation (which ageing infamously causes!) this can cause a flare up. I'm a little more red at night for this reason!

30+ long, happy years will make anyone's skin a bit sore. Perhaps you have good genetics or you've got more collagen?
