If you’re currently under the red or amber warning for extreme heat, what are you wearing?

I have just got in from work, had a cool shower and just put on a pair PJ shorts and top.
So stylish right? 😂

Loose linen dress. It's 40+ where we live (not UK). I don't want anything like a vest/t shirt/waistband next to my skin, that just makes me hotter. Also endlessly misting with a water aerosol, so I guess I'm mostly wearing water!

It was 29°c in our room at work and 33°c outside and my colleague has been turning up each day this week in denim shirts and a fitted vest top (each day a different one but all stretchy types which must be synthetic), and constantly complaining that she's about to collapse or needing to sit down with her head in her hands. I'm menopausal (she's twenty years younger than me) and fatter than her but have been warm but really completely fine wearing ling loose linen or cotton dresses - finally today I suggested that loose cotton or linen might be cooler, as she's been complaining directly to me non stop for the last three days.

I really hope she tries it tomorrow - she looks nice first thing before she starts overheating, and "summery" if it were 23°c but I think her clothes are making her overheat - unless she's just been setting the scene to phone in sick tomorrow obviously... I think it's easy to get clothes for the heat wrong and make yourself hotter believing you are doing the opposite.

Very thin cotton maxi dress, sleeveless. Bought for a casual wedding in the South of France and holidays. Covers everything important so gone commando.

FettleOfKish · 24/06/2026 19:54

Right now a swimsuit with under armour running shorts and one of DH’s old t-shirts over it. Just back from paddling at the beach with DS.

Bikini on the sofa surrounded with ice packs not moving from this spot until it cools down 😩

@warmbeluga the only saving grace is that it would be awful to try and keep a brand new baby cool in this heat if they’d have come last week!

LuxuryWoman2020 · 24/06/2026 20:13

A pair of knickers and a neck fan. Height of elegance in the heat!

Loveaghost · 24/06/2026 20:26

Black cotton dress and no underwear. Pants and bra are a step too far!

Lexy2345 · 24/06/2026 20:28

Halter neck cotton dress and cycling shorts. I’m out for the evening.

BlackeyedSusan · 24/06/2026 20:34

Curtains open at each end so have put cycling shorts on.

Was in padded crop top/ bra thingy and pants. Ds has been told to ring before he comes home.

WhereAreWeNow · 24/06/2026 20:34

Also just got in from work (linen top, floaty skirt), had a cold shower and now in short cotton nightie.

Notellinganyone · 24/06/2026 20:36

Nothing.

jackadoo1 · 24/06/2026 20:39

A sarong!

Twattergy · 24/06/2026 20:43

Cut off denim shorts and a linen shirt for dog walk at 7.30am. Then a very loose thin cotton t shirt dress (no bra). Then gym shorts and top for an outdoor workout class (33 degrees but shaded). Now a towel and nothing else post shower!!

40+4 today with an above 99th centile toddler baby.
So a pair of DH’s stretchy undies… and nothing else. Literally nothing else fits me.
Cry for me x

This was me July four years ago. Solidarity!

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 24/06/2026 21:25

Really nice short linen pintucked dress from jigsaw

StrugglingwithIvanhoe · 24/06/2026 21:39

I'm wafting about in a voluminous kaftan type garment i bought in Cape Town years ago. Perfect for this weather.

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 24/06/2026 21:42

Today I’ve worn a knee length sleeveless shift dress from Wallis. It’s mostly cotton and mainly white with splashes of black and yellow. I’ve been working.

FairViewRosie25 · 24/06/2026 21:44

Had to go into work today so denim shorts and a poshish top. Teams tomorrow so shorts and ves

Starthecar · 24/06/2026 21:47

The coolest thing that I can wear is my swimsuit after I've taken a shower in it.
I just paddle around the house doing what needs to be done while I evaporate, well while the moisture from my suit evaporates! It really works for me and keeps me cool!

AlpacaYourBags · Yesterday 16:41

I've had the day off today so have been wafting around in a white floaty linen blend dress.
Still bloody hot!

I should probably be banned from style and beauty because of this, but currently wearing a Lidl ‘linen’ dress ( bought to wear as a nightie), no bra, no knickers. Hair in a top knot. No makeup. Look an absolute state!

Edit. It’s not on style and beauty, so can show my face on there again.

AlpacaYourBags · Yesterday 17:52

Well if you're banned @MezeAndNibbles , I'll be joining you in the naughty corner! 😂

Cotton top and linen trousers which are sopping wet because I got in the shower in them. Laying with a fan on me to cool down from evaporation l.

Blingismything · Yesterday 18:34

After I got in from work I had a shower and now have a thin cotton kaftan type dress on. Green, lilac, cream and aqua vertical striped fabric.
