I really loved Dundee, such a great place.
Also Saundersfoot in South Wales. Pembrokeshire is stunning.

Ooh more Wales.

we stayed in Hay on Wye last summer. Nowhere near beach but right on the river Wye for swimming. Plus really near to the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons - if you like a hike Pen y Fan is a favourite.

I would - it’s a lovely coastal town right on the beach. Great ice cream and fish and chips. But not tacky seaside town at all.

Sounds perfect, oh and Rosehearty is lovely.

Glencoe
Arisaig
Isle of Harris
Isle of Lewis
Mull
Iona

Maybe a bit of Hebridean island theme here😁

I'm intending to visit the bird sanctuary on Rathlin Island, has anyone been?

Yes, it’s fantastic. Need to be careful to choose the time of year if you want to see the puffins though (as they’re ace to see!). Think it’s May time but I could be wrong!

I'll need to do my research.

Oh brilliant! I’m really looking forward to it.

It is lovely but other than ice cream shops, there’s not a lot else, it’s so quiet - I’d stay in Portrush or Portstewart.

We've spent our last few holidays in Laugharne which is in between Camarthen and Tenby. It's on an estuary and where "Keeping Faith" was filmed. So many amazing places within easy reach and not overly touristy.

SurleyTurnip · 21/06/2026 17:51

Dunkeld and Perthshire in general.

CaspersMum24 · 21/06/2026 17:55

Ardnamurchan peninsula (west of Fort William) is lovely, and so peaceful.
Glencoe, of course. Just stunning.
The area around Melrose/St Boswells in the Scottish Borders. So much walking to do there.
Orkney (all of it).
Unst, Shetland.
As you may be able to tell, I'm a bit obsessed with Scotland. 😀

the forests around Aberfoyle

Edited

Agreed, I have lovely memories of going to the Queen Elizabeth Forest park when ds was little. I also like Stirling and Edinburgh and Glasgow and Loch Katrine and Loch Lomond and lots of other places in Scotland. I want to say nothing beats Scotland for a holiday...but..

Nothing beats the Antrim coast on a lovely day.

I love Cardiff. Cowbridge is a nice town too (or was, not been for a long time) and I also liked Denbigh when I went a few years ago.

Dunkeld and Perthshire in general.

Yes, I'd forgotten Dunkeld.

PearlsTeapot · 21/06/2026 17:57

We did the NC500 last year and it was amazing. My favourite places were Applecross (we ate at the Inn which was fantastic) and Achmelvic beach.

Hedjwitch · 21/06/2026 17:58

Orkney.

IggyAce · 21/06/2026 18:02

Glencoe we visited between Christmas and New year last year and it was magical.
Newborough Beach & Forest in Wales, stunning at sunset.

Lozza70 · 21/06/2026 18:06

In NI try the Fermanagh Lakeland’s particularly if you are interested in nature. Springwatch this year was filmed at Crom estate to give you an idea of what to expect. Also the Geopark straddling the border with stairway to heaven and Marble Arch caves.

Pennyfan · 21/06/2026 18:08

The Coigach, north of Ullapool. Fantastic mountains, Stac Pollaidh, Suilven and Canisp, how they rise up from the landscape. Torridon. Coire Lagan in Skye-you feel like you’re in Mordor.

in Wales-Llandeilo is a lovely town-the original Toast shop. But the view from Capel Curig towards Snowdon is wonderful. As is Cwm Buchan near Beddgelert -climb out of it and you have Snowdon in front of you.

VividDeer · 21/06/2026 18:12

I don't know Scotland well, but Wales is like the med today. Tenby.is my favourite place, we just love it as a family. Beaches, food, scenery, attractions, shops. It caters for everyone and is so beautiful
