Solve a minor marital disagreement: What do you do next?

You've just unwrapped a delicious (and much, much smaller than they used to be!) Mint Cornetto from a multipack.

You are left with this wrapper.

What do you do next?

I'd maybe scrap it if alot got left on wrapper, wash it recycle. DH would lick it, recycle

user293948849167 · 21/06/2026 18:20

I would bin it, DH and my DC would lick it (and I wouldn’t judge I just hate licking paper!)

mondaytosunday · 21/06/2026 18:25

Well it’s mint so ugh I’d fold the wrapper and bin it and reevaluate my life choices. It may be hot but not mint ice cream hot!

FlorenceBlack · 21/06/2026 19:08

Fold it, pointy bit first, then the sides to the middle, then the top.
Bin it

merryhouse · 22/06/2026 21:45

in a cafe I would scrape it with a teaspoon, obvs.

But that's not as efficient

I still lament the discontinuation of the Mint Feast. A sad day for humanity.

Because it’s not nice for other people to hear and see. Nobody who does it ever does it quietly.

Would you do it in a cafe or restaurant if the food you received was in a wrapper?

I don’t think I’ve ever been in a restaurant or cafe where I’ve been served food that’s come in a wrapper.

Also, are you generally a noisy eater? I can’t imagine that most people make much audible noise when they lick a piece of paper.

Lick it and resolve to only ever buy ice creams from Lidl in future. Corneto, Magnum, Solero imitations all bigger, cheaper and nicer too. The last "real" Cornetto I had didn't taste of anything.

SirChenjins · 23/06/2026 14:50

Bin it.

I hate seeing people licking wrappers or digging about with their fingers - gives me the absolute ick.

Same, the entire thing would go in the bin, it will never be hot enough for mint choc chip ice cream.

Now if it was a traditional Cornetto - lick it, from the context you are at home and I guess just with family. If in polite company, bin it.

W0tnow · 23/06/2026 14:51

Depends. Do you have a dog?

Kingfisherfly · 23/06/2026 14:52

I should say at home or out and about I'd lick it. I once licked a yogurt lid in the office and the reaction I got means I won't do that again!

Dontlletmedownbruce · 23/06/2026 14:55

I'm intrigued how one could lick it noisily as pp suggests. A lick by its nature is silent. It's smacking lips or inhaling through the mouth while licking that makes noise.

Popdropper · 23/06/2026 15:01

Bin it, mint icecream is an abomination and cornettos are crap now anyway. Morrisons own version are lovely though, and a decent size, can recommend the raspberry pavlova one!

Now that sounds like my type of Cornetto!

WHAT?!

purplecorkheart · 23/06/2026 15:13

I am not sure I have ever had a cornetto in years that was not in bits when I opened it. In regards to the wrapper I would bin.

Arlanymor · 23/06/2026 15:21

This is what my old cat was for - yoghurt lids and ice cream wrappers. He was not blighted by lactose intolerance. He was always very neat too and then into the bin/recycling (depending on the material) it would go. Sadly since he departed my wrappers remain unlicked - but I might scrape the ice cream remnants off with a spoon if I was in the vicinity of the cutlery drawer.

Fifthtimelucky · 23/06/2026 15:41

I don’t like mint ice cream but if it had been a normal Cornetto I’d definitely have licked it.

I’m 65 and my parents were brought up in the war and hated any food being wasted, so I’m sure they have done the same. Also, licking it would save having to wash/wipe it before it went into the recycling.

Jellycatspyjamas · 23/06/2026 20:01

I’d resolve to only buy the Tesco own brand ones, a third of the price and much nicer.

Nevermine · 23/06/2026 20:27

Why is seeing the licking of the wrapper grimmer than the licking of the ice-cream itself?

SirChenjins · 23/06/2026 20:33

Because you're licking the wrapper that goes in the bin, not the food. I don't lick any other wrapper or container clean before I put it in the bin.

But it hasn’t been in the bin yet. You are weird

Nevermine · 23/06/2026 20:45

You're eating a hot crumpet thickly spread with butter and homemade jam and some of the topping slides off the crumpet onto your fingers. Do you cast the crumpet back onto the plate and rush to wash your hands or politely lick the side of you finger?

UniquePinkSwan · 23/06/2026 20:44

It's rubbish destined for the bin. Do you lick all wrappers and food containers clean before you put them in the bin? (Raw meat and similar excepted, of course)
