Anything pre 1960

Any Heavy Metal / Punk / Thrash Metal. I have an instant reaction to it. Once left a gym class because that was the soundtrack and I just couldn’t bear it.

Also:

Lady In Red
Move Closer

and Sweet Caroline now that it’s been ruined by fucking football.

Ooh I’d love that gym. Better than the bland crap you normally get

Did anyone read that OP said pre 1960

I assumed she meant that’s what she turned off

Pistacheeo · 19/06/2026 19:41

Beyonce "Run the world (girls)". It gives me the rage and I can't listen to it. Because very sadly no we bloody don't run the world. Otherwise I love Beyonce.

I'm generally pretty tolerant of most music these days, even APT grew on me.

GoodkneeBadKnee · 19/06/2026 19:41

Don't you forget about me by Simple Minds.
Mr Brightside.

pixie1345 · 19/06/2026 19:41

summer of 69

Becuriousnotjudgemental1980 · 19/06/2026 19:42

Watermelon sugar high 😱😱

Thebinisrightthere · 19/06/2026 19:42

My number 1 most hated song is Your Song by Elton John but closely followed by Breakfast at Tiffany's, 2 Princes, Beautiful Stranger, Anywhere by Rita Ora, Confide in Me by Kylie, most Oasis songs and Brimful of Asha. I don't need a bosom for a pillow, thanks

Brideofclover · 19/06/2026 19:47

Anything by Mariah Carey! I just can’t listen to her!

Mochudubh · 19/06/2026 19:48

Jump Around by House of Pain (never was a band so aptly named). It's the repeated high-pitched "Wiiieeeeeeeeeeeee, wiiieeeeeeeee", I find literally painful.

To a lesser extent, Crazy Horses by The Osmonds for the same reason but at least it's mitigated by it's early environmentalist message.

I assume the OP means she turns off anything released pre 1960. I'm kind of with her there but in my case it's anything pre-1970 with the honourable exceptions of The Kinks, The Stones and a few other individual tracks. I like to wind fans of 60s music (esp Beatles) up by saying "Bless, they were just learning how to make decent music, like stabilisers on a bike".

Dontlletmedownbruce · 19/06/2026 19:48

Simply the Best, Tina Turner. Always hated it

Waitingforlongerdays · 19/06/2026 19:48

Anything by M People. I have a really visceral reaction to Heather Small's voice.

I've never been able to listen to Oasis since Kathy Burke in 'Kevin & Perry' doing a pisstake.
'Ahr right our Kev, where's yer mam I'd like to shag'er, yeah, right, sorted'
I just burst out 😃

Oh hello Mrs Paterson thank you Mrs Paterson
