Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in the conservatory, with boy cat who has just been for a cuddle. Girl cat's gone back upstairs to try and pinch dd2's breakfast 🤣.

I've already had a potter round and tidy in the kitchen, and put the washer on. No uniform today though - last proper day on Monday so I'll wash when dd gets in & she can take it to donate to their "spares" box on Tuesday (own clothes for the final exam so they can do this).

Today's plan is to finish bedazzling dd's leavers shirt, make bracelets with her for each of the four in their friend group, and bedazzle heart sunglasses for their photos. If we're done early ish, I have some crafting of my own I'd like to get on with.

We need a small top-up shop so a walk down to Lidl is on the cards somewhere in there 🤔. At least, for me, dd might not want to come.

Dd1's working again today - she experienced the delights of trying to get back into Wembley after a big concert last night! She messaged to say it was a bit bonkers walking into such a big crowd, even on the edges of it 🤣.

Tonight may be something pasta based for tea, although I need to check what we actually have in first!

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , at last we have some sunshine here, albeit the clouds are moving in. It’s rather breezy and cool but at least the washing will dry.
I’ve been out in the garden deadheading the roses and tidying up, the second load of washing needs hanging out and I need a coffee.
DH has walked tiddler, he’s taking bigger dog to the village for her walk.
There’s pork in cider in the slow cooker for dinner, we’ll have mash and vegetables with it, it’s smelling good 😊
I’m going to spend the rest of the day in my Shed, I haven’t been down there for a while, tiddler will join me, I’ll do more of my embroidery and listen to audiobooks.
I hope you have a lovely weekend @lucysmam and followers x

I was awake as usual at 6:30. Had morning chats with DP. He went down and had his breakfast and brought me up a cuppa. We then did a half hour workout together. That brought us to about half 8. I have just cleaned my DD’s room and bathroom a little bit (she cleaned them yesterday but a 13yr olds standard is not mine 🤣🤣).And I dusted the hallway. The laundry is on. DP is painting the fence and will cut the grass. I am just about to make my brekkie.
DS is having a bit of screen time this morning. He is going to his cousins for a sleepover tonight and leaving at lunchtime. I have no idea what I will do for the day. Probably just potter and do laundry in between.

PermanentTemporary · 13/06/2026 09:55

Good morning! I’m having my second coffee after a lovely lie in. Ds is at parkrun and dp is off to see his mum. Later I’ll be going into town to see a specialist about my gum disease - fun! But we’ll probably have a chilled day, planting out some more tomato plants and catching some footy later. I have no idea what we’re going to eat yet, maybe some freezer food, I am not interested in cooking today after an exhausting week at work.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 13/06/2026 09:58

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I have stripped the bed and washed all the whites. I then went to aldi and stocked up. There were some seriously nice biscuits today- lemon biscotti and chocolate chip/pistachio cookies which ended up in the trolley. I bought most of the ingredients to make tirasemu ice cream, so I'll see how that goes. The tumble dryer is now on and im having a croissant and a cup of tea. Dinner will be fish cakes and veg. Enjoy your day

OchreSwan · 13/06/2026 09:58

Good morning @lucysmamand all. A very quiet day here today. DP and I are still in bed, I’ve just finished a cup of coffee. Will get up shortly for showers and then we have all the ingredients for fancy smoked salmon bagels for brunch.

It’s been a busy week so just some pottering and sorting for the rest of the day, and maybe a walk in the park. No idea what we’ll have for dinner, will need to pop to Waitrose to have a look. Maybe we’ll find a film to watch this evening.

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

YoBetty · 13/06/2026 09:59

We got home from holiday yesterday, so there is currently a load of washing on, and I'm drinking coffee and looking out of the window at the garden. The grass needs cutting rather urgently, by the look of it. Bit damp though, so it will need to dry out a bit first. DH has been food shopping, and I might go out for a walk later on.

FamingolosForDays · 13/06/2026 10:01

Morning all.

Woke up at 7:30 after a very busy day off. Hung out some washing and put more on, watered the garden and have been sitting scrolling MB for an hour with a cuppa.

Feeling a bit wobbly today, a bit tearful for various reasons. I'm going to a masquerade ball tonight on my own and I'm starting to get cold feet despite doing some serious "pampering" yesterday. I've no idea what to expect and I don't know what to do with my hair.

DC are with their dad this weekend. I miss them.

DM on her way over to give me a bit of a hand deep cleaning the house, I also need to mow the grass and tackle some of my volunteer admin. I've still got to post bits on Vinted that I was supposed to do last week.

Lamb and veg for lunch probably so that the stomach size decreases before I put this dress on later 😅

Tomorrow will be more washing, bed changes and getting ready for the week ahead. I am taking DD to Wembley to see Harry Styles and I want to surprise her with.. something.. to take with us so she has a nice memento. I know nothing about his gigs and merchandise will be £££ that I don't have. Any clues??

lucysmam · 13/06/2026 10:01

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand tiramisu ice cream sounds good - do you have a recipe you could share? Although I'll never get round to it - I've been making biscoff ice cream for weeks & not quite got there yet 🙈.

Woken up by my two small children in my bed snuggling me awake (5 and 3). Lovely until they started wrestling and fighting and battling over potties and toilets.

We're currently having a standoff with 3yo over breakfast, still. I stuck a washing load on while waiting. 5yo and I want to go to the allotment shortly. We'll take a ball and some pens to write on stones they've collected to label the plants (and so I can actually get stuff done). And we'll check on their recently planted sunflowers and hunt for bugs. The 3yo will to dig and they'll both play in the mud. But currently 3yo still wandering around in no underwear and not had breakfast. More screaming from the 3yo. More 'look at me aren't I being perfect' from the 5yo.

We'll get back from the allotment and they'll argue about who is sitting next to mummy at lunch so I'll dodge that by offering a floor picnic. My sanity prefers crumbs on the floor than another argument. Picking my battles.

Then we'll make a cake and I'll stick them in front of the digital babysitter for half an hour while I madly clean and tidy for a grandparents visit to us later this afternoon. Grandad will want to visit the allotment. Kids will want to go to the park. At some point I'll stick dinner in the slow cooker - it's a batch lady dump bag of chicken that I doubled up a few weeks ago and froze. Thank you past me! Then we'll probably play with duplo and I'll toss them in the bath and get into my PJs at the same time as them. When they're eventually settled, have had stories and in bed, after more battles with the 3yo of course, I'll tidy the kitchen hang the washing I forgot about then finally kick back with a gin while enjoying the silence with the book I've been reading for weeks, The Midnight Library. DH is away (not unusual).

DilemmaDelilah · 13/06/2026 10:05

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I'm guessing you're looking forward to the end of term! Is DD1 coming home for the summer holidays?

I've had a mixed week. I had an opticians appointment at the beginning of the week and apparently I have cataracts. Not too bad at the moment, in fact he was quite surprised at how well I can see, but expected to become fairly bad fairly quickly - whatever that means - because they are at the back of the lens as well as the front. When I eventually have surgery for it he said it's a bit more tricky and I will need a more experienced surgeon. That explains why I have a constant feeling of having something in front of my eye I suppose! As if my glasses are dirty. I now need to wear glasses all the time - and I will be picking them up on Tuesday. I've done what I do usually - bought a long distance and a reading pair from the optician and a cheap pair of each from Goggles 4 U in case I lose or break a pair.

I've been busy this week preparing for our holiday, and getting things ready for local daughter's birthday tea. Her cake is made and in the freezer, the curry flavouring for the coronation chicken is made and in the freezer, the chickens have been cooked and dismembered and the meat is now in the freezer, and all the accompanying salad, baked potatoes etc. have been ordered and will arrive the day before. I have to get things ready beforehand in case I'm not well just before - or on the day.
I also made a batch of ratatouille base yesterday and put it in the freezer. I had some spare tomatoes and peppers, garlic and onions, and I picked a stick of celery from the planter outside the back door. Mr Dilemma picked our first courgette and presented it to me yesterday, so when we have more I will add them to the defrosted ratatouille base. I don't like aubergine so I'm not putting those in.

It is going to be lovely to eat fresh veg out of the garden. Our tomato plants are flowering, we already have some tiny sugarsnaps growing, the celery is just about big enough to cut - as are the Welsh onions. The courgettes are starting - I will leave some to become marrows. We have some potatoes and garlic that will need harvesting fairly soon. Our peppers don't yet have flowers and our beetroot are nowhere near ready yet, but I confidently expect to have all sorts of things ready to eat when we come back from holiday. We also have lots of plums on our tree, although our apples are very disappointing.

I don't have anything particular planned for today. I have a few things left to iron and pack (again I'm doing things while I can) and I need to clear out and tidy up the conservatory dining room before the birthday tea on Wednesday. I'm expecting a dress to arrive from Vinted today, and that will need to be washed and ironed before I pack it. And I'm keeping on top of the everyday laundry so there isn't much left in the basket when we go away. Far away daughter is coming down to stay in the house some of the time we are away, so I need to get her room ready. She's not bringing Houdini this time, so only the one room to do.

Lots to do... but no plans.

Have a great day everyone, or at least the very best that you can.

lucysmam · 13/06/2026 10:14

@FamingolosForDays he has merch socks for £15! That's not too dreadful. What's she wearing? One of dd1's friends bedazzles a hairbow for each gig she goes to, although maybe a bit late to buy supplies unless you have stuff to hand. Erm...I'm not really sure. I know ties are a thing, would she like a personalised tie? Again though relies on time/craftiness/supplies 🤔

@SowWhatNow I started reading The Midnight Library but couldn't get into it. I love reading and really a LOT but I do tend to prefer books that aren't prize-winning types of you know what I mean. Philippa Gregory rather than Hilary Mantel. I want to be entertained, not to have my thoughts provoked. Maybe I should give it another go.

Giggorata · 13/06/2026 10:18

Good morning lucysmam and all.
Another dull day but I'm chancing some laundry on the line.
DH and I are discussing the day's activities and when we are going to the cinema.
No other plans, apart from pottering about and getting rooms ready for visitors either today or tomorrow.
I wish the weather would cheer up, as I wanted us to be able to have dinner in the garden.
My friend gave me a beautiful enormous cabbage, some of which is going to be served tonight with lamb pie, carrots and gravy.

Larrythecatforpm · 13/06/2026 10:19

Morning. Just taking ds10 to specsavers this morning, need to have a tidy round this afternoon as we’re finally having our bathroom replaced next week after nine years of living with a mouldy broken bathroom 🥳 not sure about dinner yet.

lucysmam · 13/06/2026 10:19

@SowWhatNow that did make me laugh! I wish you well 🤣.

@DilemmaDelilah I am so looking forward to the holidays! Not even doing much really. Yes, dd1's move out day is 4th July - I was half looking at trains to collect her earlier but also need dd2 and her dad to look with me. She has to be out by ten, so we need to be on a 6am ish train, or they can meet me there & I'll stay over on the 3rd to pack and clean. She's already let her manager know that she's interested in going back when they open the winter bar.

Morning! I've been to the gym and then sorted my boy out as he's staying with my parents overnight whilst I go out with my friend for a bottomless brunch 💃🏻🍹I've got a nice frock on and I'm on the bus en route. Later my husband will pick me up from the boat and we've got steak for dinner. He's out gigging so I'm home alone. Cannot wait

I’m going to a village fete in a Manor House with the intention of buying lots of nice cakes from local grannies and eating them later while watching horror movies.

Im working unfortunately but the weather doesn't look promising so I don't mind too much.

mondaytosunday · 13/06/2026 10:30

Morning (for once I’m here relatively early). All I’ve managed to do so far is frown at the laundry as I passed it before walking down the stairs to feed the cats. I’ve had egg and smoked salmon on a protein bagel with tomatoes for breakfast and contemplating another cup of tea. Nothing on the cards for today other than crocheting a top I’m working on. I need to finish it so I can return to work on my DD’s poncho, promised for Christmas but I’ve got a complicated part and not sure how to approach it (she showed me a pic of what she wanted which is really beyond my skill level as there is no pattern so I’m free handing it). Of course plenty of housework to do which is all too easily ignored! My DD is on her last two weeks at uni - academic part was over almost a month ago but she’s editing an academic journal and has a paid internship so is busy doing that. But really burnt out I think, however she’ll only be home for a week then off to another internship in Columbia! She has MS and fatigue is ever present but she keeps on going.
My son (doesn’t live with me) is working this weekend but coming up for a couple days next week so actually I will have to do some housework in preparation.
I’ve been updating my Will which has brought up all sorts of dilemmas. I’ve got my main executors but need back up ones. Then there’s the ‘if x predeceases you…’ which means my children and the thought of that is unbearable. Then there’s if the next lot in line are also dead and so on and I’ve hit a wall as the end of the line is my disabled niece who does not have capacity but her mother has not yet set up a Special Needs Trust. And I need to name a separate executor for that! So have had to open up a couple frank conversations with family which is distressing for all. But on to more pleasant things… The sun is out and my back doors are wide open and the cats have had their morning zoomies and are chilling. Now on to that cup of tea…

Apart from the horror films, this sounds like a great day! Can we swap 🤣

BeKhakiReader · 13/06/2026 10:32

I’ll join this gentle thread if I may.

I’m still chilling in bed (have a fatigue illness). DH is at work until tonight. In a minute I’m going to have a shower and jump on a zoom call at 11.

It’s set to be a lovely day here, so after some light housework, I’m planning on settling in the garden with my audible. Just me and pusscat all day, although I often get a call from dear granddaughter on Saturdays asking if she can come for a cuddle.

Kim82 · 13/06/2026 10:33

Good morning all. I am currently alone in the house for the first time in what feels like months and it is heaven! Dh is at work, dd18 has gone to Birmingham for the weekend for a friend’s birthday and dd11 has been at her dance show practice since 9.30am. All I can hear is one of the cats snoring on the other sofa (all 3 are asleep in here with me but just the boy cat snores 😆).

I really should be scrubbing my absolute pigsty of a house but I just really cannot be bothered right now. I have a load of washing that’s finished and needs to be hung on the line but, again, I can’t be bothered. I’m currently sitting on the couch with a cup of tea doomscrolling.

I do need to get moving but it’s just too much effort and I’m tired after not having a quiet day for weeks! But, alas, I shall clean the house soon, my Tesco shop is being delivered this afternoon and then my dsis is picking me and dh up around 4pm and taking us to her house for a family bbq for my nephew’s 21st birthday - dd11 is coming too but she will be coming with my cousin who is her dance teacher. My cousin said she may as well keep hold of her (and my niece who also dances) after practice, take them back to her house while she gets ready and bring them to dsis’ house as she’s coming to the bbq too, saves us having to go and pick them up.

So tonight we’re having a bbq for tea then more than likely drink too much wine and get an uber home. I’m already dreading the hangover - this is why I need to get the house in order today so I can sit and feel sorry for myself and not move tomorrow. I need some motivation…

Judgejudysno1fan · 13/06/2026 10:36

Morning everybody

How are you all and lucysmam

God willing all is well with everyone

Today has been a slow morning of odd jobs round the house, breastfeeding and making lesson plans for the week.
Delicious baby girl is now 7 weeks old. How quick has that gone when I was updating you all on her birth!!!seems like yesterday.

Today, we were planning on going to a museum but changed our minds due to dc5 being ill. Instead will just be relaxing , watching kids on lego and ps4 and making more lesson material for the next 4 weeks!!!

Dinner tonight is boiled and then seasoned and air fried baby potatoes with basa fish, spinach and red onions.
