What colour is your bathroom?

We are trying to choose a new bathroom. It hasn’t been redone for 20 years. The choice is overwhelming. I’m almost tempted to go for white ‘furniture’ and keep it neutral with tiles as it’s a fairly small bathroom and I feel darker furniture might overwhelm it and make it look smaller.
however we had been considering a navy colour for the ‘furniture’ (bath panelling, cupboard around sink and toilet) with pale / neutral tiles. I’m worried that I might end up not liking it though as it’s so bold.
I’m just looking for inspiration really. Anybody happy to share photos?

We are currently just about to redo our bathroom for the first time in the 13 years we've lived here. I used ChatGPT to help me decide as I'm not very good at visualising what things are going to look like

BeMellowAquaSquid · 12/06/2026 22:35

Mine is currently nothing. A shell. We’re going through a renovation. It’s HELL. It was 1960s peach with brown tiles. It will be (next Friday hopefully) walnut units, grey marble tiles on one wall and huge beige tiles everywhere else.

MissMogs · 12/06/2026 22:37

Did ours a couple of years ago. Started by googling bathrooms and then screen shotting the ones which jumped out at me. A trend soon emerged to show what I liked! That helped us know what to look for. Think about which bits it might be cheaper/easier to change in future if your tastes change. We knew we wouldn’t be able to afford to re-do ours any time soon, so went for fairly classic things. Avoided brass and black taps which seemed to be fashionable but we felt we’d go off quite quickly!

Definitely go for a white suite! Get lots of sample tiles and pick ones you like that won’t date. Don’t go for anything that’s currently ‘trendy’. I got my bathroom done 10 years ago when I moved in. I only tiled around the bath/shower and sink and kept the walls white as it’s small. Tiles are slightly larger flat metro style in sage green, white grout. It hasn’t dated and it’s easy to refresh by repainting walls. The floor just has lino on, which again, can be easily replaced to up date.

Nitgel · 12/06/2026 22:43

White suite. Pale pinky beige large tiles. Wanted it as neutral as possible as that's easier to update with towels etc while keeping the main colours neutral.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 12/06/2026 22:50

Look at Porcelanosa for inspiration. Metro tiles are done to death and dated. All that grout and raw edges if you don’t fully tile a wall. Texture and neutral colours are best and big format tiles. Wall hung loo and basin. White sanitary wear and vanity with storage makes sense. A cupboard for towels and a big towel rad. A large shower if you have space.

Whataflippincircus · 12/06/2026 22:55

White with Crome fittings. White tiles with grey running through, walls and floor Everyone has said it looks stunning.

Elfie23 · 12/06/2026 22:56

Daughter and I wanted something girlie. Bright pink walls with soft grey shower curtain and towels 👌

mumumental · 12/06/2026 22:56

All White, Farrow and Ball. Which is plain white but with no cold “blue” tones.

DelphiniumBlue · 12/06/2026 22:58

I change the wall colours but keep the suites white. Things like wood bath panels and cupboards also get painted. Over the years I've had wedgewood blue , orange, dark blue, mint green, and bright pink. My first flat had a pale blue bathroom with pink, purple and white paint effects ( it was the 80's).
Because it's a small room that you don't spend very long in, I feel that a bathroom can be brighter and more colourful than might be restful in a bedroom or living room. I really wouldn't like white ( or grey or beige) anywhere in my house.

One is ocean blue with wooden accessories, one is forest green with gold accessories and the other is cream with neutral accessories. All have white suites.

FastFood · 12/06/2026 23:25

Mine is pink and white for the walls, and dark grey for the floor, with brushed brass fittings.
Basin and toilet are white. Shower is a wet room so no shower tray.
I just did it last year and I love it.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 12/06/2026 23:31

@Davros After 40 years? That’s seriously retro!

BitDrizzly · 12/06/2026 23:37

Almost fully tiled with large, very light beige tiles, a bit of white wall and a white suite and furniture. It’s very ‘neutral’, but I find it relaxing.

I occasionally change the colour of bath mats/towels/plants/candles (cheaply) to add colour. I’m having a shades of blue moment right now.

Mum5net · 12/06/2026 23:41

@Davros just the mirror then? Looks so shiny and clean! Well done you!
OP, mine is literally a screeded floor, I get the tiles fitted on Monday.
i’ve gone for 60 x30 wall tiles and 60x60 floor tiles. Chosen shiny dark cream tiles for walls and matt version of same tile for floor so we are very neutral and don’t slide about. Also have a long floating shelf being added for a row of lush low hanging plants to bring dramatic greenery and have a 1400 x 400 wall hung oak unit that will match the oak door.

Towels yet to be decided.

Sunshine5791 · 12/06/2026 23:44

We went for a Storm grey gloss bath panel, toilet cabinet and cupboard under the sink. Large grey tiles on the walls and floor. The best bit are the lights and de mister in the mirrored wall cabinet. I love it so much! It’s only a small bathroom, slightly longer than a standard bath and wide enough for the width of the bath, a sink and toilet to not be touching but very close to each other, so I was worried the dark grey might be too much and make it appear dark, but there’s a large window which helps. I’m also glad we went for the drencher shower along with the standard shower (like a hotel shower), it just feels a bit fancier when I’m washing my hair!

My ensuite is a large walk in shower and white toilet and basin is set in a mid grey unit. Walls in aqua boards in pale silver grey, mid grey non slip vynal on floor. I have raspberry pink towels and it always looks clean and fresh. Toilet roll holder, toilet brush taps and shower head all in chrome. My main bathroom has a shower bath, glass shower screen, grey vynal, walls in pale grey aqua boards and the same grey unit with white wash basin as in ensuite with except it's wider and white toilet with crime accessories. I put blue towels in main bathroom. I have shower room in same on top floor. All the same as we had them all refreshed at the same time 2 years ago. They are all practical and very easy to clean.

HippyChickMama · 13/06/2026 00:07

White furniture, white suite, off white tiles on half wall and floor, wall above is olive green, white wooden Venetian blind. Towels and mat are colourful (Habitat skinny bright stripe) and lots of foliage plants in cream/white pots. It’s a big bathroom and gets a lot of light so looks better than that sounds!

FourCatMama · 13/06/2026 00:08

Blue

Crispynoodle · 13/06/2026 00:10

Ours is white with white tiles (fairly large) it’s been aqua, fushia pink, grey (not for long), deep racing green and currently farrow and ball peignoir.

Citadelica · 13/06/2026 00:13

Minty blue green.

DrPrunesqualer · 13/06/2026 02:39

White sanitary ware
Wood floors ( old rich oak original )
White polished plaster on all walls
A mix of black marble ‘look’ and gin bottles for the tops and WC lid
Chrome fittings

We have other WC / shower rooms to do and we’ll stick to the same theme assuming the floorboards are OK.
If not we’ll probably lay quarry tiles simply because they have been used elsewhere originally.

All 3 of our bath/shower rooms are tiny!

Family bathroom - about 6 x 7ft. White furniture. Lavender blue acrylic panels around the bath. Bottom part of the walls is white tongue and groove, top part is deep blue/purple. Floor is grey wood-effect ceramic tiles. Towels match the walls. Blind is grey and lavender.

En suite shower room - about 3 x 8ft. White furniture. Peppermint green acrylic panels around the shower. Light peppermint green paint on the walls. Floor is yellowish cream marbled ceramic tiles (the whole lot cost £1.50 in a sale 😁). Blind is peppermint green and mustard. Towels are mustard.

Downstairs shower room/toilet/utility - about 4 x 9ft but irregular. Sage green furniture with wood effect tops. Warm cream on 3 walls - huge window so one wall is mostly window. Crimson acrylic panels around the shower. Crimson paint on the short wall next to the shower. Light brown wood effect ceramic tiles on the floor, cream towels. The inspiration for this room was some sample tiles I bought years ago, which have a cream background with small red daisies with green leaves. Those tiles are behind the basin. White Venetian blind with tapes.
