Help me tick something off my to do list - “find new period app”

GiveMearoomwithaview · 08/06/2026 06:36

Don’t ask me how but I’m right at the end of my to do list <twirls>

”find new period app” has been on there for over NINE months

i currently use Flo. I HATE it. I hate having to click through 10 adverts just to check what cycle day I’m on, I hate the constant up selling. I hate how busy the screen is. I don’t use my calendar as it’s all synced with my work calendar and the family calendar and I have a horror of repeating the “wax appt” incident of ‘23

Please help a fellow woman complete her job list and tell me what app you use if you love it?

OP posts:

My daughter uses P Tracker has a pink flower in the logo . Very simple to use . Never had a problem with adverts . Can see where she is and can see a prediction of next period and her history .

Sorry, but how on earth did women manage before these apps?
I used to put a note in my diary on the first day of my period. Could you not just do this in your digital diary?

LoveAGoodToddlerTantrum · 08/06/2026 06:50

I use the Garmin app that I use for tracking my runs. It sends a reminder before my period which is handy. It's free.

icannotlivelaughloveintheseconditions · 08/06/2026 06:53

I’ve got stardust. No ads

DappledThings · 08/06/2026 06:58

What are you tracking it for? If it's just to check you are fairly regular then isn't just making a note in your phone of when you've started each one sufficient?

ThursdayLastWeek · 08/06/2026 06:59

I use my Garmin app too.

Probably, but much like I don’t beat myself up because my grandmother used a board and mangle and I have an automatic washer and dryer at my disposal, some people prefer an app.

The electronic reminder when it’s due is useful. Also easier to track usual length etc which is useful medical information if they change.

Owmyelbow · 08/06/2026 07:01

I use p tracker

I don't know anyone with a physical diary.

And if she isngoing to mark it down in a 'digital diary' then whats the harm in getting an app that is much more comprehensive. OP might be experiencing unusual changes, perimeno, worrying cervical symptoms, increase in blood or cramps.
She might be trying to pinpoint ovulation/period week to avoid pregnancy or plan a big holiday in the future etc...

Always baffles me when someone goes 'I do this, but someone else doing it a slightly different way is ridiculous' (Which was the tone of your opening sentence)

Mbear · 08/06/2026 07:05

I use P Tracker as well.

DeafLeppard · 08/06/2026 07:10

Garmin here too. Tho I suspect Apple Health does this as well.

But it might be helpful of OP therefore explained what she's looking for as those with experience might therefore be able to better suggest specific apps if she has a specific need.

Otherwise then the solution of just making a note of the date, physical or electronic might well suffice. It could be that OP is looking for a solution to a non-problem.

This was my first thought, but also why do you need to track it- unless you’re having unprotected sex or trying to conceive. I used to put a s on my calendar if I wanted to track it, but my periods could be 28 - 45 days, until I went on the pill. My second thought was that I remember an article about the period apps being used basically as a way to gather and sell your information. Period trackers 'coercing' women into sharing risky information https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmj6j3d8xjjo

queenofwandss · 08/06/2026 07:24

I use Stardust and love it, I find it really helpful in comparison to others I have tried and I believe it is women-founded or owned. It’s not free though, about £25/year.

nimbleCosmicBadger · 08/06/2026 07:25

Ive been using P tracker for >10 years now. It's great, does exactly what it needs to, and I've never felt the need to use any other tracking apps because it just does the job so well.

YSianiFlewog · 08/06/2026 07:27

My Calendar is a simple app to use.

Edit - sorry I quoted wrong reply! My answer was in response to @RampantIvy

She’s already explained that.

Why does it bother you that the OP (and plenty of other people) want to use technology specifically designed for this. Is it because you’re from a generation of people who weee taught to give as few shits about how women’s bodies work as possible?

There’s all sorts of useful data women get when they regularly enter personal info into these programmes. If it’s not something you’d use then fine, but not sure why the need to try and belittle another woman for wanting to.

I’ll be following with interest OP. Was genuinely thinking about this this morning when I woke up and realised I’ve got a right cob on for the 3rd day in a row, for no apparent reason.

RampantIvy · 08/06/2026 07:32

Ha ha. That's me told then. I guess I never felt the need to track mine as I was pretty regular.

Edited

I'm not belittling anyone. It's not unreasonable to ask if something is really necessary. It might cause more anxiety than not tracking everything. If that's not the case then that's great. I hope OP finds what she needs.

Nothing unkind about raising the possibility of just not doing it.

We use it as my daughter started her period when she was 10. So i needed something to know when was going to need her period pants on and i
then also knew when she was likely to be on period if we were on holiday . For us it was very accurate . I never needed a tracker as I had an idea , but for a 10 year old , she has no clue .

I’m glad she’s regular. The only thing regular about mine was if it was a school day, it would seemingly start at 12 midday and class didn’t finish until 12.20 and it was usually a shitty teacher who wouldn’t let anyone go to the toilet for any reason! (Many many moons ago!) That and I usually had to go home as I had a habit of passing out from the pain!
Also, phones do have reminders you can customise, to remind you of these things!
