Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, after a nice lie in with boy cat 😊. He's just eating his breakfast now.

Dd2's been up ages and done the majority of the small jobs I would have done while making my cuppa. She's just eating breakfast then getting dressed, & I'll get dressed after my cuppa.

Today's job is to build the wardrobe for the girls bedroom! It's in five massive boxes. But first we need to remove both current wardrobes & the furniture that's coming out of the room. That'll probably take all day.

Later on, I'm off for drinks and food at a friend's house for the evening. I'm walking with another friend so we'll probably leave before it gets too dark. It'll be bedtime when I get in, so I can get up earlyish tomorrow and crack on finishing the hallway walls.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam

Enjoy your night tonight. Sounds lovely.

Im still in bed. DH just brought up tea and a bacon roll. I was up earlier and sorted all the pets and brought up initial hot drinks.

I need to organise DS and DD who are both going to friends. Then do some work on my essay. Work was exhausting and stressful yesterday so I took last night off but I must get moving.

DH and I are going to a friend’s later for food so that will be nice.

Hoping to be home by 9 to watch the Scotland match but will see.

Enjoy your Saturdays squad.

FamingolosForDays · 06/06/2026 09:39

Morning!

Been awake since 8am, just had a cup of tea in bed scrolling mumsnet. There's a community festival thing in the park next to my house today so I have friends coming and we will go over there later. Although the weather is looking pretty horrific... undecided whether we will take the gazebo. They were setting everything up yesterday while I was running round, quite exciting really. Hopefully i can dance to some ska music later and not get too wet.

Beers will be had so I should probably think about cooking a half decent meal this afternoon. I've promised sausage butties at some point this evening. Got to get up and tidy up and mop kitchen and bathroom floors.

Tomorrow I will need to work, up to neck in deadlines and my poor colleague's mother is seriously unwell so I will try and pick up some of her outstanding bits to give her a hand. DC will return from their dads at some point, I have really missed them.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 06/06/2026 09:44

Good morning lucysmam and others. Enjoy your well deserved night.
I've had two coffees and a cup of tea with pancakes. I've dried one washing from yesterday and washed all the bedding. Shortly I'm heading out to meet a friend for second breakfast. Once home, I will crack on with housework or visit dd, I haven't decided which. Enjoy your day everyone

DilemmaDelilah · 06/06/2026 09:49

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I was hoping you weren't going to be too late today as I'm off to the optician this morning. My eyesight has become noticeably worse, which I'm putting down to all the meds I have been/am taking, not just to old age. So I thought I would just go and get them checked out. Then on the way back from the optician we're popping into Next to pick up a parcel.

Later I have to dismember a bra. When I first started wearing a prosthesis I, stupidly, ordered two bras that were recommended to fit by the lady who measured me up. That was November 2023. I have never been able to wear them as they have side boning which I find incredibly uncomfortable! I got tired of this a while ago and, basically, butchered one of them to remove the boning. It is now comfortable so I'm going to perform surgery on the second one today.

I don't have any other particular plans for today. I'm tired this morning as I didn't manage to get to sleep until around 3am, so I expect I will need a nap this afternoon. I also need to find a good, and easy, recipe for rhubarb and custard cake, which my eldest has requested as her birthday cake. There are so many recipes out there ranging from a basic Victoria sponge with a rhubarb and custard filling, to really gooey cakes that are more like puddings. My daughter has not pinned down her choice in the slightest, but I THINK she would prefer something more puddingy. If anyone has a good recipe please would they pass it on?

Have a good day everyone, or at least the best day you can.

Rainydays26 · 06/06/2026 09:52

I woke up at 4am. Didn't get up till 6 though. Just been doing washing general tidy up.

Older ds and his girlfriend been up since 5 cooking pizza 🙄

2 younger ones woke just over an hour ago. All 4 of them are now playing switch.

We are going to see a Michael Jackson tribute later.

Kim82 · 06/06/2026 09:56

Good morning everyone. I’ve had the week off work and it has left me absolutely exhausted! Dh went away on Monday and isn’t due back until this Monday coming. I’ve spent the week decorating both dd11 and dd18’s bedrooms. I also thought it was a great idea to slip in a trip to Alton Towers on Wednesday (shhhh, don’t tell the school attendance officer as I took dd11 out of school for the day 😂) which involved a hell of a lot of walking. My leg muscles are done in from all the walking and climbing up and down ladders, etc. so I am having a very well deserved chill day today. My only plan is to do a last coat on the radiator in dd11’s room and wade through the Everest size pile of washing that needs to be done - as dd18 is now home from uni she has brought everything home and revealed all the washing yesterday. She will be helping with this obviously but I’ve made a start this morning while she’s still asleep.

I’ve just asked dd11 what she wants to do today and apparently I’m now not having a chill day, she wants to go shopping for accessories for her newly decorated bedroom so that is now what I shall be doing this afternoon. Joy.

I do really need to sort the house as it is in absolute chaos from the decorating - why does it create such a mess in every single room?! I don’t understand it but it’s just not going to happen today, that’s a problem for future me. The painting in dd11’s bedroom is now pretty much done and her room needs putting back together but I just don’t have the energy or enthusiasm for that right now. I might get her to go through the rest of her belongings so I can do a charity shop run later but we shall see. Dd18 has a date this afternoon so will head out around lunchtime and will be back in time for tea. I can’t be bothered cooking so I’m going to collapse on the sofa no doubt surrounded by decorating detritus and piles of (hopefully clean) washing, enjoy a Chinese takeaway and much needed glass or two of wine in front of a film before passing out in bed ready for “operation get the house back in order” tomorrow. I can’t wait to get back to work on Monday for a break! 😂

gingercat02 · 06/06/2026 10:00

Morning all, I had a dreadful night's sleep and DH was up at 7 to do the Parkrun, so I feel a bit meh!
Got up about 9, long shower, just finishing my coffee and about to go to get ready to go to my volunteering role.
Load of washing on, I did the rest yesterday afternoon.
Back for late lunch and F1 qualifying.
I was going to garden after that but it's cold, windy and currently raining, so maybe not.
No other plans as I'm knackered 😴

Iamnotaloggrip · 06/06/2026 10:07

Morning all. Just back from parkrun where DS got another PB. Not sure about me yet but probably not, and I’ll be at least 5 minutes slower than him anyway! He’s hopped in the shower first so I’m having a coffee while I wait.

DP and DD are out with the dog. I’ll do some breakfast when they’re back then it’s off to gym with DD while DP and DS go to his football gala.

Chilli for dinner then we’ll watch England at 9. Have a good day everyone!

MyDuvetDay · 06/06/2026 10:07

We’re not off to a great start. DD woke up at 5am complaining of tummy pains and has been vomiting on and off then. Me being hungover is less than ideal. But I’m m going to make the most of it - we are cuddled up cosy on the sofa with an iPad and various books. Have promised an ice lolly later

Giggorata · 06/06/2026 10:08

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I am doing tea and pills prior to doing my stint in the village shop this morning.

It rained overnight and I am hoping that it continues brightening up so that I can get all the plants I bought yesterday into the ground. I have a lovely purple hydrangea and a pink elder to replace the huge old lady that died. Definitely a purple and pink thing going on, with all the different flowers.
The garden at the house still isn't anywhere finished but I can't do without proper flowers for another year.
One complication on Thursday was the emergence of a deep hole in the yard, meaning a collapsed drain.😳 Undoubtedly a result of the massive skip lorry we had a few months ago. Someone is coming on Monday to sort it but in the meantime, we have put a large roof tile over the hole, to save postie's legs.

DH is off at the weekly farmer's market, so I am hoping for something special for brunch. We have tuna steaks for dinner tonight.

OchreSwan · 06/06/2026 10:16

Good morning all. I am still in bed, have had a coffee and some yoghurt with fruit and granola for breakfast. Need to get up and go on my run shortly.

I felt very overwhelmed by mess yesterday so we spent a couple of hours blitzing everything last night, which means we don’t actually have too much housework to contend with this weekend! So I will mostly be a lady of leisure today.

We have a friend’s birthday party/housewarming this evening, and another friend is staying with us. The party is only round the corner so I’m hoping I won’t be in bed too late. Have a lovely day all!

Simonjt · 06/06/2026 10:17

Good morning, me and the kids have been for an early saturday swim and our oldest made everyone pancakes for breakfast (hes been a pain at times this week so he’s after something). Our youngest is going to a birthday party this afternoon, so while shes there I’ll take our oldest to the skatepark for a bit so he can glare at me from a different location.

No other plans apart from that, so largely a lazy saturday.

Have a nice weekend, good luck with the wardrobes @lucysmam

Rainbow1235 · 06/06/2026 10:19

Emowoman90 · 06/06/2026 10:35

Good morning.

I'm currently in a huff because I have to attend a BBQ (my partners work mates) it's raining, windy and I hate eating in front of people I've never met. I'm hoping with my two kids attending also they can comfort me and I won't feel as awkward 😂.

My partner then said once we leave we'll attend his brother in laws 40th birthday party for an hour, they will be all wasted at this point and my social battery will be low, I'm dreading the headache later tonight 😫.

Hope everyone is having a positive Saturday 🙂.

IfyouStealMySunshine · 06/06/2026 10:43

On a caravan holiday with dp and ddog. Weather not the best but been dry so far this morning.
Had coffees in bed, crumpets then a big walk on the beach.

Heading in to the town shortly to have a wander round the shops and get something nice from a bakery for lunch.

Planning on a snooze this afternoon then back in to town for a few drinks tonight and a takeaway back at the van.

HelpMeGetThrough · 06/06/2026 10:53

The weather is shocking here today, cold, wet and very high winds, so can’t mow the grass and trim the hedge. Shopping has just been delivered and put away. Just having a cup of tea and had my second round of painkillers.

Will get in the shower in a minute and then do some cleaning. Will sit down this afternoon and have a beer. I can’t go anywhere as I had an infusion this week, which kills my immune system, so until the middle of next week, l am under strict instruction to stay in and keep away from people. Feels like 2020 and shielding again!! 😀

Tiddlywinks63 · 06/06/2026 11:25

Good morning everyone, it’s miserably cold and wet here, I’m thinking about lighting the wood burner in a moment. DH is out with bigger dog, tiddler is snoring in her bed. They got soaked on their early walk, I wrapped her up in towels when she returned and DH needed a hot shower.
I haven’t done much this morning apart from a quick tidy around, put away the washing and moan about being cold despite having on three layers of clothing and thick socks 🙄
I’m having steak for dinner, DH can have chicken goujons, there’s sauté potatoes and salad. I might even have a glass of wine, I rarely drink so it’ll probably lead to a sleepless night.
I’ll get on with my embroidery in a bit, I can happily sit and do it for hours while listening to podcasts or audiobooks, and there’s really nothing to stop me doing exactly what I like!

ShipshapeShore · 06/06/2026 11:30

I'm supposed to be decorating but still drinking tea in my PJs. We're only painting a few walls so nothing huge but I still can't get going! DD wants to make dot cakes later (viral trend apparently) so that will be nice. Working my way through washing mountain throughout the day too. What I really want to do is read and knit though!

itsmeits · 06/06/2026 11:35

Morning,
Making a cup of tea, after getting home from dropping DM her bady 🎂 🥳 present off early so she has it for Monday
Going to peel the spuds for mince, mash and dumplings for tea - DP wants lasagne
I dont fancy lasagne and if the spuds are peeled he has no choice 😂

Judellie · 06/06/2026 11:53

I started to read this then realised we were out of toilet roll so had to go and do a food shop.
Prior to that, I had showered, washed and dried hair, done my ten minute exercises, had my breakfast, sorted the dishwasher and set it off and hung some washing out. But then it rained.
Mumsnetting for a bit then sorting lunch for DD and I then taking her to work. Probably just a bit of tidying later then whe she gets back we'll watch 'Race Across the World'. We're up to the Vietnam one but I'm not looking up the winners as it will spoil it; final one tonight anyway.

JacknDiane · 06/06/2026 12:02

Morning @lucysmam and all others.
Am still in bed as I have a headache from one glass of wine. Im an embarrassment.
The weather looks dodgy and the washing machine is full.
Might try a walk later between rains rainshowers.

zingally · 06/06/2026 12:09

I've not long since got home from the shops.
I went out with the mission to find a light summer coat, suitable for a funeral. But not a jacket to be seen...
But did stumble across a large Sue Ryder charity shop that has opened, where everything is £1. I'm always in the market for mid-season style tops for work, due to my ever-fluctuating size. So I stocked up. 5 tops and a book. For £1 an item you don't have to absolutely love anything. It was all in the "that's perfectly fine" range. May well go back in a month or so, as the shop was busy, so I imagine stock turns over really quickly for that sort of price.
Nothing else planned for today, so I'll watch some telly and read my book.

mondaytosunday · 06/06/2026 12:25

Good afternoon! Sounds like an active day for you . I’ve finished brunch of smoked salmon and eggs on a bagel and thinking of making another cup of tea. Not dressed yet. Cats are somewhere - I think I left one on my bed. It’s sunny this second but raining off and on and still very windy. My focus today is proofreading an academic journal my DD is editing. Just making sure punctuation and spelling is right, a second eye so to speak, unless there’s a glaring error you have to let it stand as is. She’s already checked the quotes etc. I tell you academic essays and reports can be tough going if you have no idea about the subject! I remember reading a friend’s son’s History thesis and thinking my god it was as dry as a bone. Anyhoo I’ve got about 100 pages to get through and have to do it in blocks as my eyes start to cross after a while (plus my office chair is not the most comfortable)! There’s the usual chores but I’m very good at putting a lot off til tomorrow that never comes - living alone has made me very lazy in some respects! It’s only when guests are due that things get a proper going over. Dinner is probably a burger and chips and I’m on the last season of Resident Alien. Ah I knew it it’s clouded over and a few drops are falling…

Chelsea26 · 06/06/2026 14:13

Afternoon all!

im currently in our camper van heading to snowdonia with DP for a few days. We were meant to be going tomorrow but DP’s cricket match was called off so we are getting a bonus night!

We shopped for supplies yesterday so this morning we just had to load up the van and head off. It’s been raining on and off on the drive down and will probably continue for the days we’re there but that’s ok. I like reading in a cosy camper in the rain!

We’re planning on a couple of lovely long walks, a bit of wild swimming, some kayaking and lots of cheese and wine. I’m looking forward to it!

DilemmaDelilah · 06/06/2026 14:25

Bit of an update on my optician's appointment this morning. Turns out I have cataracts. Not too bad at the moment - as in I can still see - but cataracts all the same, and they're only going to get worse. What a bummer! I had a really thorough eye examination which has left me exhausted and with a thumping headache.

And - to top it all off - because it was quite late when I got out we bought ready-made sandwiches from Boots (yes - I am naming and shaming) for lunch. Now - bear in mind that I am both autistic AND a picky eater. Mine was labelled as a cheese ploughman's, containing cheddar, tomato, pickle and lettuce on malted bread. It had cheddar - tick - even if not much of it. It had tomato - tick. It had pickle - tick. It was on malted bread - tick. Here is where the outrage begins!!! It did NOT have lettuce, it had some other kind of leaf that was definitely NOT lettuce. Possibly rocket. I like lettuce, I do not like not-lettuce. AND it contained mayonnaise. I very much dislike mayonnaise. If the sandwich had been as described it would have been edible, perhaps even nice. As it was, it was not nice at all.... in fact I would go as far as to say it was disgusting. WHY!!!!! And to top it all off.... there does not seem to be any way to feed back to Boots. It was quite simply not as described so the description was misleading.

I am very tired, I have a headache, and I'm hungry. Sorry to be so grumpy.
