Turned up late to hair appointment and stylist was away

I booked a hair appointment t dir today. I turned up an hour late as I wrote the wrong g time in my diary. My stylist wrote it on a post it note. When I got there the other stylist looked annoyed and said my stylist was on holiday but she could do me anyway. I said no I prefer my usual one. So I have been given another appointment for 2 weeks time with my own stylist.

Not sure how that happened. It was a bit embarrassini was looking forward to seeing mystylist as we get on well and have a laughs.

So is this the same hairdresser that did a patch test on you in February and you ended up itchy and wanted them to be shut down, but then said it was actually shingles?!

No i left that salon and this is a new one. The good thing is that the new salon is a 15 minute walk from my house whereas the previous hairdresser was a train ride away a d even when I got off the train it was a 15 minute walk from the station. From door to door it took me about 50 minutes. If I was pushed for time I would take a cab which would cost about £10.

I prefer the nearer place

You do not know what problems she has.

If the OP wants any problems taken into account, she needs to at least say what they are

PerkyOchrePeer · 05/06/2026 18:52

When i joined my current salon I just told them my previous salon was too far away. However, when my new stylist looked at my hair she said she liked the way it had been cut. I never had any issue with the way my hair was cut at my previous salon. It was cut very well. My current stylist is just as good so it's a win win

I've been thinking about today and they usually write the appointment on a post it note. I took it and wrote it in my diary. I am 100% certain it said 12.45. I cannot find the note.So what happened was I transferred it into my diary , and through the note away. When I got to the salon at the correct time , I was told it was 11 45. There is no way I would have got there an hour lates, so I think what happened is that they wrote the wrong time on the post it notes and put a different time in the salon diary.. i was looking for the note to take it along and to prove that that was the time I was told to turn up for the appointment. And now, because I can't find it, I've got no way of proving that I did not turn up 1 hour late. In future, I will keep a copy of the sticky notes, so that if this ever happens again, I can prove and show them what they wrote on the note. If there's any query, I can tell them and they cannot accuse me of turning up an hour late.

This time your stylist was on holiday anyway and you refused an alternative so it's pretty irrelevant if you were late or not

If there hadn’t been a miscommunication/mistake on someone’s part (yours or theirs) and you’d turned up at the time of the appointment, would you have gone ahead with the alternative stylist? Your preferred stylist wouldn’t have been there regardless.
Probably best to forget all about it and try again next time!

My own stylist knows how she wants to do my hair so I would rather wait for her. Ive been given a new appointment for two weeks time with my own stylist

I believe I was on time as directed by my own stylist. I think she wrote the wrong time in the salon diary so when the other stylist looked, she saw the time I was expected in by what was written. When I turned up later she said I was expecting you earlier. All I can do us turn up again and draw a line under it. Ive taken a copy of the sticky note with the new appointment as proof. I never turn up late for appointments whether it's dentist, doctor or anything else and always double check but with doctors and dentist or any domestic appointment, they always send a text reminder. Sone hairdressers do but my current and previous hairdressers never did

That's disappointing OP but it's great you were able yo get a new appointment scheduled without too long a wait. I need mine done and need to find somewhere new unfortunately, not looking forward to it!

franksmama · 06/06/2026 10:24

Perhaps she’s gone to Embarrassini on her holidays! Lovely part of Greece, off the beaten track.

LetMeGoogleThat · 06/06/2026 10:48

Tales that didn't happen at the hairdresser, part 10000 😂

How much actual hair do you have OP? You're always at the hairdresser, with some fantasy, perceived slight 🙄

So the point is that is was irrelevant if you were on time or not, you wouldn’t have had your hair done by the other stylist anyway.

Yes, I would wait for her, as long as it is not the one who coloured it too dark, or light last time.

Do let us know how you get on.😁

I read the post before looking at the username and just knew it was going to be you again

Thanks for the heads up, i hadn't noticed.

OP, so your stylist wrote the wrong day, not the wrong time, but it doesn't really matter because she wouldn't have been able to do your hair if you were an hour late anyway so the whole thing does not matter because of your action not theirs.

Springtimeinsunshine · 06/06/2026 13:15

No she told me at the last appointment , she was going to be absent so I'd have to work around when she was not at the salon. I then said, Kenny, adelady, do my hair.If you're not around, and she said she can so she booked it, and I mistakenly thought that she'd booked it for when she was next going to be around and when I turned up the other ladies said she was absent. So I just went back home again

But why are you telling us this? I've not seen any other posts you've made but you went somewhere late, and the person you wanted to see wasn't there.

Erm, so what?

murasaki · 06/06/2026 13:48

Again with the hairdresser issues. It reminds me of the M&S steak cut chips person.

Oh, you should read the others 😂 The allergy test one that turned out to be shingles, should be moved to classics!

YelramBob · 06/06/2026 14:43

OP are you the 'Get a compass' poster?
