Why won’t my dress on Vinted sell?

TheMaidofOrleans · 31/05/2026 21:27

Very popular dress from last few year -think Cos/ & Other Stories etc.
It had been viewed over 250 times and added to over 50 people’s favourite… price very reasonable and I dropped price by a few
qyid today. Other identity dresses are priced around £20/30 more. I am baffled.

Someone please just buy it…

Is it the pictures?

sell lots of things on Vinted, here are my tips;
No blurred photos, and always put more than one photo
if you do books photo of the books description on the back else people will not know what it is about!
if someone likes, message them with an immediate dispatch notice
no creased items
if an item has been on a few weeks delete it and then put it back on so it is top of the listings
make sure there is a good discount on bundles plus make sure there are things that are attractive to people to add to bundles

IwanttoWFH · 01/06/2026 09:46

How much are you asking for it? I think if an item has lots of favourites, it might be because it’s too expensive and they’re waiting for a price reduction.

Have you tried deleting and re-listing? I’ve done this a few times and managed to sell things. New items will get shown in people’s newsfeed

I will not buy second hand clothing unless there is a photo from every angle in good light.

SilenceInside · 01/06/2026 09:54

For me, I don't buy anything that's being modelled by the seller. I find that to be extremely off-putting for some reason. Also agree with the New Without Tags as the category but the seller is clearly wearing it in the pictures or states that they have worn it "once or twice" or similar.

Alwayslurkingsometimesposting · 01/06/2026 10:19

Is it definitely priced right? The rule with second hand is half the price of new, if its unworn. Subtract further for any wear. Most people price too highly- its natural as we over- value our stuff but the market dictates what its really worth.

I don’t like seeing an outfit modelled personally. I prefer it nicely washed and ironed and displayed nicely.

I like Cos and & Other Stories but wouldn’t pay £30 for a good condition not new with tags dress. For a bit more I could buy new in their sales etc.

Trainup · 01/06/2026 10:26

I much prefer to see an item modelled just to balance up those comments saying otherwise. It gives me a realistic idea of what it will look like on. But then I’ll go and look and see if anyone else is selling it cheaper.

Yes me too 100% especially Cos as their clothes can be very very different when tried on to how it looks on a coat hanger. Plus you cannot return it so it is always a gamble.

Bit nervous to link to it….

Can you share the photos rather than the whole listing, so your username isn’t made public?

Speaking for myself, unless I really want something as soon as I see it, my favourites are just a shortlist. I’m likely to be choosing between several items, and may not end up buying any of them. I’ll also favourite items that I think are overpriced in the hope the seller will come down at some point.

Are you sure your price is reasonable? People do sometimes get bogged down by what they paid for it and wanting to claw back as much as possible, rather than thinking about what it’s worth to a buyer. Even a BNWT item is never going to be worth anywhere near the price on the tag, just because there’s the element of risk in buying from a private seller rather than the original retailer. You also have an inherently less valuable product, because no matter how nice a size 12 dress is, it’s only ever going to appeal to a size 12 buyer, whereas the same dress in-store can appeal to everyone in a size range.

Drop the price by a pound or two and everyone who has it in their favourites will get notified @TheMaidofOrleans

MidnightMeltdown · Yesterday 00:23

List it on eBay. I’ve had things for months on Vinted and then sold them immediately on eBay, and vice versa! They seem to have different markets.

People don’t like seeing pictures of people wearing things IME. They know it’s second hand and has been worn but they don’t want to be reminded of it so obviously IYSWIM.

Totally disagree with this. I really like to see the item being worn.

CookingFatCat · Yesterday 02:03

I would go with relisting at peak scrolling time, reduce price. Relist if needed. I didn’t think of relisting my stuff? But obvious now I think of it.

I might go back to EBay as Vinted have banned me for multiple accounts. I don’t , I just have teenage daughters!

Joolay · Yesterday 05:20

If you reduce the price even by a pound, everyone who has favourited it would get a notification
Cheaper than a bump
