Why won’t my dress on Vinted sell?

TheMaidofOrleans · 31/05/2026 21:27

Very popular dress from last few year -think Cos/ & Other Stories etc.
It had been viewed over 250 times and added to over 50 people’s favourite… price very reasonable and I dropped price by a few
qyid today. Other identity dresses are priced around £20/30 more. I am baffled.

Someone please just buy it…

Link it and let’s see!

Jellyofftheplate · 31/05/2026 21:28

Because they want to bundle it with something to save on postage but you don't have anything suitable.
Or it's listed as new without tags and then you say you've worn it. Or the description size doesn't match the photos.

craftycowbag · 31/05/2026 21:29

Can you link it? Is the price genuinely ok? Is sizing right?

Also if it’s a winter dress, take it off and relist later in the year. People are looking for summer holiday clothes etc just now.

LetsMakeThisMomentLast · 31/05/2026 21:38

Have you got good reviews for selling? Unless something is an absolute bargain, I don’t usually take a chance on someone who only has reviews for buying or who only has a couple of reviews overall.

TheMaidofOrleans · 31/05/2026 21:42

It is a summer dress. Honest description and I worn it a couple times so in excellent condition. Pics good with a couple of me wearing it and size showing. I have good reviews as a seller.

Bit nervous to link to it….

If it’s considerably cheaper than similar dresses, people might think somethings wrong with it. ‘Too good to be true’ etc.

Well then how can we advise?

RudolphTheReindeer · 31/05/2026 21:55

maybe it's not as popular this year?

Daisypod · 31/05/2026 21:55

Are the dresses priced between £20-30 actually selling though? People can list for whatever they want, doesn’t mean they will sell.

Summerhillsquare · 31/05/2026 21:58

Relist relist relist...vinted is extremely time sensitive. People forget their favourites, the only use of them is they push you up the homepage rankings.

Hallywally · 31/05/2026 21:58

You can get nice summer dresses for £30 new. Is it designer?

NotAWurstToIt · 31/05/2026 21:59

I sell quite a bit on Vinted (have lost weight so have bought clothes from there that are now too big etc.) and, when I started I found prices were fairly reasonable, but now people expect things for a couple of £, even if they are new with tags and it’s just not worth the effort - I took loads to charity the other day that just didn’t sell. I wonder if it’s just people wanting something for very little?

PermanentTemporary · 31/05/2026 22:01

I don’t like Vinted because there’s no end point. People (including me) will stick a like on something and then go on scrolling and there’s no reason why they should ever buy it.

Obviously lots of people do brilliantly on Vinted but I went back to eBay. If something hasn’t sold after a couple of week-long listings I just take it to the charity shop.

ThisTimeWillBeDifferent · 31/05/2026 22:03

People don’t like seeing pictures of people wearing things IME. They know it’s second hand and has been worn but they don’t want to be reminded of it so obviously IYSWIM.

LarksAscending · 31/05/2026 22:13

You need to keep relisting every 3 days. If it hasn’t sold after a week it won’t be seen by anyone again unless they very specifically seek it out. Or boost it.

I disagree. Modelled items sell way faster than I modelled ime. Only if it looks good though.

VeganSteakAndFries · 31/05/2026 22:19

Message all the people who have liked it op. Tell them … Hi I can post tomorrow if you’d like this 😊

And drop it by another £2.

TheWildZebra · 31/05/2026 22:21

IME things sell best if you list them on an early Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening when everyone is sitting on the sofa scrolling.

it it’s not sold, relist it during one of those times.

I’ve somehow spent most of my disposable income on bloody Vinted this month. I’ve only just discovered it. All started when I favourited an item and they messaged an offer. I couldn’t resist.

Yes! Especially shoes with bare feet rammed in. But any clothes really. It puts me off, but I suppose some people might like an idea of the fit. There was a big beardy bloke modelling a woman’s top once when I was scrolling through. Made me laugh, but also feel slightly queasy🤣

Pootles34 · 31/05/2026 22:37

What's your vinted rating like? Are you sure the sizing category is correct?

DilemmaDelilah · 01/06/2026 08:50

I haven't seen your item so I can't comment on your listing specifically, but these are the things that put me off.

First photo doesn't show the entire garment
Poor quality blurred photo, or too dark to see details
Insufficient photos to see everything I want to see (length, length of sleeves etc.)
Garment is very creased
Insufficient information on the listing, fabric etc.
Incorrect sizing
Too expensive. I only look for things which come within a certain price range (varies according to the article) INCLUDING the buyer protection fee and postage
Delivery method - some are better than others
