We haven’t found out the gender yet so we’re looking at both!
Currently our boys names are:
Noah Indigo Gale
Freddie River Gale
Freddie Flynn Gale
Jasper Indigo Gale
Fynn River Gale
Alfie James Gale

And our girls names are:
Autumn Rose Gale
Dahlia Mae Gale
Mabel Rose Gale

Which do you like the best and do you have any other suggestions?

Autumn Gale 😂😂 love a bit of windy weather in October!!

Yes I hadn’t thought of this until I posted here! Which is exactly why I did it Grin

to me Indigo is definitely a girls name.

I love Dahlia, but only with the pronunciation of a flower (day - lee - ah) not the other way I sometimes hear it said (Darh - lee- a)

I like the other names, but your surname is a challenge, so many of them are not going to wash with the surname. Especially Autumn.

Also, if using names like Autumn, Summer, even May I think it is odd if they are not born at that time of year/month. So Autumn really pretty for a girl born in Sept Oct Nov, but weird for a girl born in July.

I have a Florence Rose (surname is Indian and outing). What we totally failed to realise is that the minute people learned her full name should would be known as Flo Ro forever more. We then went for Eden Elizabeth for the next child…..who is now known by all as Eddie 💁🏻. We don’t get to influence our kids actual nicknames so make it a good one.

pS still love both Florence and Eden as names.

and another PS I’m actually known by my middle name because my first name is hideous. Think something old lik Barbara whilst my middle name is classic ans lovely like Victoria.

I think jasper gale is a cool name :) not overly keen on any of your girls names, though do like indigo for a girl. Indigo rose maybe

edited to add - I do actually love the name autumn, but as previously mentioned, it doesn’t work too well with gale!

Celeste Pearl

Lilianna Jane Gale? (Jane isn't my style but if you like James it might be yours?)
Lilianna Louise Gale
Lilianna Rae Gale

Lilianna personally is the only girl's name you've posted that I'd like BUT everyone has different preferences and it's part of what makes us all different! I gave my eldest DC a very odd name at the time and now nobody bats an eyelid at it.

Chester is a nice name, it's actually more your middle names that feel a bit too hard to pair. Jasper is also a nice name, not too keen on any of the others.
What about Cole?

ToyStory75 · 01/06/2026 20:46

you need to focus on picking a first name.
Gale is a pretty tricky surname!

I think you’re saying the full name in your head, they won’t use that on a day to day basis.

Noah Gale being the perfect example of this! 😂

Tuxmittens · 01/06/2026 20:47

Current top choices -
girl - Liliana Mabel Rose Gale
boy - Freddie Flynn Gale & Jasper Gray Gale

?

We’re not married, so we could use my surname, but I personally dislike it although it is probably simpler to pair with some names!

One of my dc went to school with a male Indigo - generally known as Indi. I thought it was a great name.

steppemum · 01/06/2026 20:58

to see how well they work, you need to think about it without the middle name
so Lilianna Gale and Freddie Gale.

The middle names are distracting from what the name will sound like on a daily basis (I love middle names, but you need to start with the solid first and surname combination)
I think 3 syllables works well with Gale, so Lilianna is good. But she is going to be Lily or Anna pretty quickly I fear.

Joolay · 01/06/2026 21:06

All of them are terrible

Joolay · 01/06/2026 21:07

Don't use Mae and don't use Rose

Just one middle name - it’s her/ he who will spend their life squishing their name onto forms like forms at the airport.

NoTouch · 01/06/2026 21:11

I picked a random name I liked for my ds’s middle name, in hindsight I wish I had picked something meaningful.

I have my mums name as a middle name and it means a lot to me. I wish I had given ds my maiden name (which can be a boys name too) or my late dad’s name as know it would have meant a lot to him.

Hoork · 01/06/2026 21:15

They are all nice with a lovely nature theme! But I would be careful with Flynn River Gale as I initially read it as Flynn Rider (the man from Rapunzel) and he might get called that at school.

GlassHeart1 · 01/06/2026 21:30

Amber Rose

17caterpillars1mouse · 01/06/2026 21:39

Noah Indigo - Noah is nice but obviously very popular. Indigo is nice in the middle name spot

Freddie River - i dont like this. Dislike Freddie as everyone ive met (under 10 years) has been a bit cocky and rude. I dislike River

Freddie Flynn - love Flynn

Jasper Indigo - Jasper is nice but i prefer Flynn

Fynn River - it's ok. I'd spell it Finn though

Alfie James - please no more Alfie's. Its been done to death, at least in my area

suggestions: Wyatt, Felix

Autumn Rose - love Autumn but fedl like Rose in the middle cheapens it.

Dahlia Mae - not a fan of Dahlia, like May but not your spelling
Mabel Rose - nice enough

mindfulmoaning · 01/06/2026 22:02

Mabel Rose and Freddie Flyn

Very good point!

I'm assuming that Gale is the surname rather than a middle name to be followed by an undisclosed surname?

My grandma was Daphne Cynthia Gale.

Jasper is good. I think 2 syllable names work well: Andrew, Carlson, Michael, Henry. Alice, Lucy, Susan, Janet.

Autumn Gale is not a name, it's a weather phenomenon :-)
