We haven’t found out the gender yet so we’re looking at both!
Currently our boys names are:
Noah Indigo Gale
Freddie River Gale
Freddie Flynn Gale
Jasper Indigo Gale
Fynn River Gale
Alfie James Gale

And our girls names are:
Autumn Rose Gale
Dahlia Mae Gale
Mabel Rose Gale

Which do you like the best and do you have any other suggestions?

Serena Rose
Poppy Mae

Xander James

CrowsInMyGarden · 31/05/2026 17:37

Like all the boys names but Freddie Flynn Gale the best. Don’t like Mae, it sounds just like a typical filler middle name. Not keen on Mabel either. Autumn Gale sounds like a bad weather warning.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 31/05/2026 17:40

Noah James Gale
Noah Flynn Gale
Fynn James Gale

really dislike indigo and don’t think your future son will thank you. Likewise I like Freddie as a nickname but feel on a bc it should be a Frederick - gives him more options as an adult.

Mabel Rose Gale - gorgeous
Phoebe Autumn Gale
Daphne Rose Gale
Greta Rose Gale
Rose Autumn Gale

Not initials NIG...

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 31/05/2026 17:41

Ohh and agreed with above you can’t do Autumn Gale - that sounds like describing weather.

NameChangeAgain48 · 31/05/2026 17:41

Id do

Boy
Freddie Indigo Gale nickname FIGGY

Girl
Indigo Grace Gale nickname inddy or IGGY

WhatAMarvelousTune · 31/05/2026 17:43

I know it is sometimes used for boys, but I strongly associate Indigo with being a girls’ name.
I like Noah & James from your boy list, but I appreciate you haven’t paired them together.

I agree with PP that you can’t go with Autumn Gale. I also think Mabel Gale doesn’t flow particularly well.

Tuxmittens · 31/05/2026 17:43

I hadn’t even thought about the initials thing! Thank god I posted here first Blush

I'd go for a name with two or three syllables to go with Gale. Serena Gale sounds particularly nice. Or Jasper Gale. Do people use their middle names much?
I don't like Freddie or Alfie at all. Simply because although they sound cute like that for children, they tend to get shortened to Fred or Alf for adults and thats not as nice.

Comedycook · 31/05/2026 17:45

River gale sounds like a localised weather event

Superhansrantowindsor · 31/05/2026 17:45

Freddie Flynn reminds me of Freddie Flintoff.
Noah jasper would be nice. And Mabel Rose for a girl.

mondaytosunday · 31/05/2026 17:47

I tend to shy away from popular names and I think you’ve just about hit them all other than Dahlia! I like Autumn Rose (though I know two Autumns) and Flynn River (though also know two Fynns, though spelt Finn).
Natalie Rose? though you guessed it, I know someone with that name too…

blacksax · 31/05/2026 17:49

Not keen on the modern faddy spelling of 'Mae', sorry. My suggestion would be that if you like the sound of the name, then spell it 'May' as in the month of May. Traditional and lovely.

My other suggestion would be that if you want Indigo as a middle name, make sure that the initials don't spell an unfortunate word. Always tricky when you choose a middle name that starts with a vowel.

Chewbecca · 31/05/2026 17:49

Freddie / Dahlia

(Choose whatever you fancy for middle names IMO, people overthink them, it's first with last that's used daily).

ilovemyrailcard · 31/05/2026 17:56

With your surname you need to shy away from anything that's a real thing e.g. Autumn, River, Indigo, Dahlia, Rose because (as others have said) it'll sound like a weather warning.

I'd worry about Dahlia being shortened to Day too as Day Gale isn't great. Same problem if Mabel gets shortened to May.

Freddie and Jasper are both good.

ilovemyrailcard · 31/05/2026 17:59

Also Noah Gale sounds like "No! A Gale"

CoffeeBeansGalore · 31/05/2026 18:03

James Noah
Finlay James

Rosie Georgette
Georgia Rose
Zoe Rose
Briony Rose

blacksax · 31/05/2026 18:05

Of those, Alfie James Gale and Mabel Rose Gale. They would sound nice as brother and sister too (future-proofing).

blacksax · 31/05/2026 18:07

Do people use their middle names much?

No, they don't.

itsgettingweird · 31/05/2026 18:14

Noah James
Alfie James
Freddie George
Flynn James

love your girls names - they flow better with the middle names you’ve chosen.

Also suggest
Issac Flynn Hale
Sebastian James Gale
Pheobe Anne Gale
Freya Rose Gale

The Jasper combo is good
Dahlia is my favourite but please not Rose or Mae. Totally done to death and beyond boring. What about Faith, Fay, or Cleo?

You beat me to it! This one absolutely not !

Fiftyandnotsonifty · 31/05/2026 18:30

Would father or your name work at all for a middle name ? Mae and Rose have been done to death? Do they even need a middle name 🤷🏻‍♀️

blacksax · 31/05/2026 18:37

Fiftyandnotsonifty · 31/05/2026 18:28

I wouldn't go for JIG either...

Love Fay, especially that spelling. But Fay Gale?
