Whats your go against mumsnet rules that would make some netters frown at you for, but we dont care, some netters may be shaking with what we do.

Mine is the following.
I clean my ears with ear buds.
I fly more than 3 times ayear.
And i use many disposable items.
I also have more than 1 packet of crisp aweek.
I dont donate money to any charity.
And all home waste goes in the black bin.
I dont cook from scratch.

Glass of wine every day pretty much
i shower at least twice a day
I have a child in private school
i let my cats out all day
i think women who rely on men for their financial wellbeing are crazy

What? Most of these are stereotypical Mumsnet

Mine is sometimes I leave the washing up until the next morning

AddictedToBooks · 31/05/2026 12:44

I like to feed squirrels and other wildlife (despite being a gardener).

I centre my life around my dogs out of choice (I don't mean expecting them to be allowed into shops or anything like that, but I plan my holidays with them at the centre)

On a Friday night I love nothing more than a bottle of wine and a horror movie - even better if I'm on my own.

I read Frieda McFadden and enjoy her books.

Probably 10 million other reasons too but I don't really care.

I drink
I vape
I allow my kids screen time (in moderation)
I don’t eat freshly cooked, UPF free food for every meal (I actually love a supermarket sandwich)

I also leave my washing out all night
I have a cleaner
I sent my child to a private secondary
I believe in financial independence, joint accounts only for bills, my personal money and my salary are my business only
I refuse to get married
I brought up my child vegetarian
I spoke a different language to my child in front of others who didn’t, because my child’s right to be bilingual trumps any paranoia on the part of monolinguals. Luckily we don’t live in the U.K. so no one got offended
I don’t drive anymore
I live in a flat
I prefer to spend money on good food and wine, travel and experiences, rather than buying a bigger house

People complain about people speaking their language to their children in front of others who don't speak it?? My mum always told us off in her language when we were out in public so no one else would understand Grin

Natsku · 31/05/2026 12:56

I clean the toilet with a toilet brush
No shoes in my house, even elderly guests (i.e. my parents, don't have any other elderly guests but if we did I know they'd take their shoes off anyway)
Don't know what else would be disapproved of, probably how much independence my children have.

Yes my mum did too!
There are lots if threads on here where someone has been told by UK in laws or friends to stop talking to their children in their language as said in laws/friends can’t understand and it is apparently rude. Even if you’re just telling them to go to
the loo. Lots of posts in support of offended in laws. People here don’t care, I used to get congratulated on ensuring my DD was bilingual as it was such a gift.

nettlesandweeds · 31/05/2026 13:52

What a refreshing thread. Phew, there are normal people on here!

Such a silly thing to complain about. And if its young children and you're doing one parent one language then you really don't want to switch language.

I live abroad and no one has an issue with me talking in the minority language with my children, but its English so I can't use it to secretly tell them off

GethsemaneHall · 31/05/2026 14:18

I vape
I am fat
My family shower daily and I don't monitor water usage
I drive relatively short distances that I could easily walk

I make up for it though as I have the MN approved 6'5 tall lanky teenage boy that eats about 5000 cals a day and doesn't gain weight along with the gorgeous 16 year old daughter that happens to be very petite!

ohyesido · 31/05/2026 14:24

I'm a SAHM. Still. Even though my kids are both adults now.

Vodkamartini3olives · 31/05/2026 14:39

I vape
I smoke weed
Sometimes I do both sitting at the FRONT of the house (wrap around porch).

Yellowpapersun · 31/05/2026 14:59

My tumble drier (vented!) is my best friend.
I love Kemi Badenoch.
I am a Christian.
I love my SIL (brother's wife), she is an absolute diamond.

SqueakyFromme · 31/05/2026 19:35

I don’t shop at Uniqlo and don’t have an electric car

UnPetitDunPetit · 31/05/2026 19:40

I think my MIL is lovely.
When I was TTC I waited until my period was due before taking a test.
I have never blocked someone on my phone or gone NC with anyone over a disagreement.
I don't own joggers or leggings.
I have never been to Center Parcs.
