I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, with girl cat 😊. She's ekekek-ing at the birds using the bath at the end of the garden. Dd2's up and out already to go to the last of the half term revision sessions - history and maths today. Dd1's working again - she'll be rolling in it for a few months but also needs to save towards second year.

Dd2 needs to leave a little early as she's got a haircut booked for 12:30. Hopefully she enjoys the experience - she hasn't been to an actual hairdresser in many years! I'm going with her for moral support/to pay, then we're heading to town for thread to make a minor adjustment to her prom dress, and foundation for her make up.

I'm going to move at 9 to get breakfast. Fruit and yogurt this morning I think 😋. Then I'll get dressed and potter between house and garden until I leave to meet dd.

I wanted to turn over one of the flower beds but the ground's a bit hard for me to manage that so I'll just continue tidying for now. I took all the rogue nails and screws out of shed and fence yesterday & it looks much tidier for it!

I'm not sure what's for tea yet. I did a BIG shop on Thursday afternoon so plenty to pick from. We'll see later. The rest of the evening will be showers and either read or crochet before bed 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

@lucysmam we are off to see Cuban Brothers. Its a tiny venue and they are very funny. We found them on a tiny stage at Hyde Park last year and it was just a brilliant, brilliant laugh.

Now that I am up and about I have realised I have some admin to do for my volunteer job. I've just watered the garden and the bind weed is back with a vengeance so I will need to go out and start pulling that up before it ruins all the seedlings in the wildflower bed. I foresee a further trip to the garden centre 😎

lucysmam · 30/05/2026 09:52

@Kim82 I'll be interested to see how commuting goes for your dd! Dd1 was pondering the benefits of commuting & using air b&b type affairs but likes being in London too much to do that I think.

I'm very proud of my horse. Today I got him down the lane on his own, he was very anxious and nappy but I persevered and managed ok in the end. He's an anxious horse but is slowly learning to trust me and its so rewarding.

We're sat in a supermarket cafe with a cuppa having just done the weekly shop.

Then haircut at 11am, back to the yard at 3pm for a whole host of jobs and back home for tea.

Good morning Squad

Im in town having breakfast alone and it’s quite nice! Just gearing up for some pottering in town. I’m rarely here so want a nose about.

Will pick up DS in a few hours. Lots of football today so will half watch that and do my course work. Need to pop to my sisters to pick up stuff.

Garden needs a water later and I want time with my book. Not sure about tea but now in the mood for chicken satay after reading about it here!

lucysmam · 30/05/2026 09:59

@FamingolosForDays I do like a tiny venue! Have a fab evening. I hear you re. bindweed - there is that and brambles in abundance here 🙄. A shame because the flower bed is full of established plants/shrubs but I've taken most of it right down so I can see and keep on top of the unwanted stuff <sigh>.

I've been up a while, tidied the kitchen, hung out some washing and just about to start cutting the grass. Got a fair bit to cut and I'll need to do it in stages as will need to recharge the mower batteries a few times!

Will head to the gym later with DH for a swim. DS will probably come too. He's still in bed at the moment - his only lie in during half term as he's been on a course. The mower won't wake him... nothing does!

Then it's a quiet evening in. Will probably all watch a film together, then a fairly early night as we're travelling to visit family tomorrow

Tarkan · 30/05/2026 10:25

Morning Lucysmam and all.

We’re off to visit my parents. My dad turned 75 this week so big family meal out tonight at a local Italian restaurant. We had to preorder food so I’m having calamari then penne salmone which is in a vodka sauce and really lovely.

I’ve got surgery on Tuesday and I’m going to stay at my parents’ house after that so having to pack absolutely everything I will need for this weekend, my hospital stay AND recovery afterwards. DH can always bring me more stuff from home after though so I’m focusing more on the first two things. I haven’t had to pack a hospital bag since I had my kids though and they’re 22 and 18 (and I didn’t even stay in overnight after having the youngest LOL).

Tiddlywinks63 · 30/05/2026 10:33

Good morning everyone, it’s a lovely sunny but cooler day here and the washing is drying on the line.
Dh has just left with bigger dog for a walk, he took tiddler out early.
I’m faffing around, I have tidied and cleaned and I am now enjoying scrambled eggs on toast before returning to my embroidery.
I don’t have anything much going on here, my life is very quiet 😊
Jacket potatoes with coronation chicken for dinner, I’ll probably just have the chicken with a salad.
i need to look for some dressings for my leg; I had a BCC excised earlier this week and the instructions say to do daily dressings. There are 10 stitches, it’s looking clean and healthy but the bruising is quite noticeable.
I hope your surgery goes well @Tarkan

Dropped brother off at bus station to get coach to Heathrow earlier. Waiting for wash load to finish to get out on line, picking friend up 12 ish to go into town as there is a monthly market on and then we are going to our beach hut for a couple of hours to stare out to sea, chat and in my case, drink tea and wine in hers.

Home later for tea and sit in the garden with my gin and soda and watch the birds in the bird bath that I will have to keep topping up numerous times.😆

Off to Listowel book festival to hear a talk by Liz Nugent and Claire Coughlan

gingercat02 · 30/05/2026 11:13

Morning all, been up for a while but just chilling in the garden over coffee and breakfast with DH.
DS is revising War of the Roses for Tuesday.
Today is a garden day I reckon!
No plans at all will just see how the day pans out.
Enjoy everyone.

Crunchymum · 30/05/2026 11:58

Hello all,

Back from holiday yesterday but couldn't get a food delivery slot (despite having an annual pass and checking on Wednesday) so I'm just back from my second Sainsburys trip. It's only a 5 minute walk away so not too bad. Think we have all the essentials.

Just going to hang some washing, iron some uniform and then make lunch.

Arsenal v PSG final this evening so we're having a few people (BIL, SIL and their kids and PIL) round for pizza, beer and football. If Arsenal win we'll take a walk down to the Emirates. I'm not feeling overly hopeful though.

Peridot1 · 30/05/2026 12:06

Good afternoon all.

Started reading the thread early but got distracted.

Quiet start to the morning with tea and my puzzles. Then emptied the dishwasher and had some toast and more tea.

We are on a mission to sort our garden in preparation for a bbq for 60 we are hosting in two weeks. So I swept some of the patio for DH to be able to power wash it. Then washed down the outdoor table. Then went to the garden centre for a couple more pots and some plants. Came back and made a coffee for DH and I. Potted a couple of geraniums into some hanging pots. Hung out some washing.

Having a break now. This afternoon will be more garden stuff. Sorting the roses I think. The ones the deer haven’t eaten…..

Bbq for dinner later. DS is an Arsenal fan so will be glued to the tv. I won’t watch as I’m a bad omen!

Afternoon@lucysmam & all - just sitting down to lunch ( chicken mayo sandwiches & a gorgeous vine ripened tomato) after a very busy day so far. Glorious weather so planning to sit in the garden with a book later. Up early as DH was working at 8. He brought me a cuppa in bed & I caught up with Vinted, sent a few messages etc. Popped to the chemist then dropped my car off to get the Air Con gas changed. I’ve had warm air blowing during this heatwave which hasn’t been ideal! Whilst it was being done I walked up into town & found it was buzzing, which is really unusual. There was a food festival on. Wish I’d taken note of the name of one of the stands because their dishes smelt incredible. Some sort of rice bowl & fried garlic was mentioned. Couldn’t resist a look in the children’s hospice charity shop as I’ve never been in. I bought a pair of shoes & a handbag, both £1. The handbag says Ted Lapidus but it isn’t leather so probably a copy. The shoes are Day Vine, not my size so destined for Vinted. Will go back with DD17 so she can help find more that will sell. I just need to curb my spending on Vinted! Collected the car & oh my, it was worth every penny of the £74.95 to feel that cold air! Home briefly to pick up DD then we went to Asda for the last few party bits (celebrating DD’s GF’s 18th early tomorrow) & Tescos for edible silver spray to decorate the cupcakes. I did the dishwasher before lunch & will put the washing machine on & soak my bras after I’ve had a Quality Street toffee dessert. So good! The kitchen surfaces need wiping down & everywhere needs dusting. This sunshine shows it up! Easy tea of ham salad with Jersey Royals. Will watch the BGT final tonight. Have a great day folks!

zingally · 30/05/2026 15:15

I was up early to get to Asda before it was busy. Then to Waitrose for a couple of things I forgot/prefer from there, then to Greggs for my "free" Octopus energy coffee.
I've since spent the rest of the day "catching up" with various tasks that have fallen by the wayside... It's been a weird couple of weeks, and things are just getting back to normal, thankfully.
I've also just picked the first home-grown strawberry of the year!

DilemmaDelilah · 30/05/2026 19:56

Did you see it? Did you see the Hawkstone Farmers Choir in the BGT final? They were fabulous!!! If you watch it (I confess I don't usually) and you don't have a preference, please vote for them this evening. 🤞

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 30/05/2026 22:58

@DilemmaDelilah

Congratulations on the choir's win tonight on BGT.
You must be very proud of them all.

Titsywoo · 30/05/2026 23:03

I've had a lovely day on my own. Cleaned for most of it, did some gardening then got some nice food from Waitrose and spent the evening catching up on Rivals. DS went out early to meet some people and decided to stay out for the night. DH is working on Britains Got Talent and won't be done till 2 or 3am so is staying in town. DD isn't back from uni until Monday. So a whole house to myself - lovely treat!
