Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

lucysmam · Today 08:42

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my conservatory spot, with girl cat 😊. She's ekekek-ing at the birds using the bath at the end of the garden. Dd2's up and out already to go to the last of the half term revision sessions - history and maths today. Dd1's working again - she'll be rolling in it for a few months but also needs to save towards second year.

Dd2 needs to leave a little early as she's got a haircut booked for 12:30. Hopefully she enjoys the experience - she hasn't been to an actual hairdresser in many years! I'm going with her for moral support/to pay, then we're heading to town for thread to make a minor adjustment to her prom dress, and foundation for her make up.

I'm going to move at 9 to get breakfast. Fruit and yogurt this morning I think 😋. Then I'll get dressed and potter between house and garden until I leave to meet dd.

I wanted to turn over one of the flower beds but the ground's a bit hard for me to manage that so I'll just continue tidying for now. I took all the rogue nails and screws out of shed and fence yesterday & it looks much tidier for it!

I'm not sure what's for tea yet. I did a BIG shop on Thursday afternoon so plenty to pick from. We'll see later. The rest of the evening will be showers and either read or crochet before bed 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Since I can't access that specific thread, I'll just say that for me, a productive day usually involves tackling one big chore first thing so I don't dread it later. Honestly, even if it's just getting out for a quick walk, it makes a massive difference in how the rest of my day flows. Hope everyone else is having a decent one!

youngestisapsycho · Today 08:46

Going to get my nails done, then off for some drinks in the sun for friends child’s birthday, then meeting another friend for her bday this evening. Dh will spend all day gardening, adult DDs will probs not leave the house!

Iocanepowder · Today 08:46

Solo parenting my 5 and 2 year old today.

Considering a trip to Smyths and Mcdonalds for lunch.

Maybe some fun with bubble guns in the garden and some ice lollies. Then dealing with the kids getting annoyed because the ice lollies are melting.

And a trip to Morrisons where they have little kids’ trolleys.

JacknDiane · Today 08:47

Im in bed, just had my tea and toast and am unfortunately getting up soon to get ready for work

MoonWoman69 · Today 08:48

Been up since 5-30am, had a horrendous nights sleep and no idea why!
Had my morning hot water, then a coffee and played with the cats, watched our young fox finding peanuts in the garden.
Did the monthly shop yesterday, so that's all done! So other than going through the boots and shoes in my wardrobe, to take to charity, I'm doing nothing!
Although I'm making bacon baguettes for brunch and chicken tikka skewers and salad for tea tonight!
The cats have now gone to supervise DH repairing bits of the fencing in the garden!
Now time for a nice coffee made with milk! Have a fabulous weekend OP x

FamingolosForDays · Today 08:48

Morning!
Not long woken up here. Had a late night at our friends, the DC all had a great time. Unbelievably (!!) DS is still asleep in bed (this is the latest he has ever slept in in 10 years!) so I am enjoying the silence!
DD also still asleep but at the age of 13 that is far less unusual 🤣

Hot here today. Ice lollies and darts/games in the garden i think. Shopping arriving later and will need to tidy up as my mum is coming to babysit as I'm off out to a gig later with my friend. I have had tickets booked for a year to see this and I cannot wait! Satay chicken for tea.

Tomorrow will be another chilled day and getting everything ready for back to school/work on monday.

JacknDiane · Today 08:48

You've got hard working girls there @lucysmam, they are a credit to you.

FayKnights · Today 08:56

Morning @lucysmam and Saturday gang

Just about to get up and make my first cuppa to take into the garden.

I’ll potter about the garden today and then off for dinner this evening with family for an early birthday celebration, The dogs will need a walk, but only when it’s not too hot, we have woods near us that stay coolish and has a lovely stream they can swim in.

Have a great day all!

DilemmaDelilah · Today 09:06

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Did you manage to find your missing box, by the way?

We didn't have any particular plans for today, but now we are going out this morning to buy some (new) dining chairs that are being sold on facebook. I'm just waiting for the chap to let me know where to pick them up from!

I sorted out all the clothes I'm taking on holiday during the week which mainly means trying them on to see what fits. Unfortunately there are a lot that don't, which is a shame, but actually I have plenty so it's not going to be a problem were going to be away for 11 nights, in a variety of places, some of which require more formal evening dress, so I need to take quite a lot. I'm only 5' 3" tall nowadays and I don't wear high heels - ever - so I've also spent some time taking up hems and doing some alterations. Mr Dilemma has been sorting out his, and has ( finally) taken notice of the fact that I refuse to be with him if he chooses to wear his nasty slimy Temu shirts with the flashy buttons in the evening, so he has sorted out some very nice shirts and actually bought himself a nice new non-iron 100% cotton one as well. He has a LOT of clothes but has, unfortunately, developed a habit of getting new, cheap, stuff from Temu. You wouldn't BELIEVE how many pairs of socks he owns now! Most with garish product pictures on them. He also bought himself some plain black socks, thank goodness, as he recently had to borrow a pair of mine for a funeral.

I expect this afternoon will be spent putting the chairs together (they are semi-flatpack, in that the legs need attaching to the shell). It is usually my job to read the instructions and pass the relevant bits - although actually I am quite good at making up flapjack furniture.

My sister and niece, together with the rest of the Hawkstone Farmer's Choir, have the final of Britain's Got Talent this evening. Please wish them luck and, if you don't have any other preference, please vote for them. Quite apart from how good they are, they are supporting a really important cause (Farmer's mental health) and they are doing this on top of their day jobs. It's a busy time of year for people in agriculture at the moment. My sister was busy 'topping' 6 paddocks (whatever that means.... I know it involves a tractor!) on Wednesday morning as well as all the usual animal care, and my niece had to miss the Thursday rehearsal as she had a class to teach (not a school teacher) that day.

Have a wonderful day everybody, or at least the best day possible.

MrsClattenburg · Today 09:06

I'm lazing around before walking to the supermarket to take some clothes back. I could drive (10 mins) but will get my shorts on and have a nice walk in the sun before getting home and lying in the garden with my book all afternoon ☀️

We have a wedding evening do tonight so will be driving to the hotel later today. I have no idea what to wear (not like me at all) and DH is no help as he's just saying, don't stress - we're only there for a few hours... 🙄

I'm just disappointed this weekend isn't another 3 day Bank Holiday!

ToadRage · Today 09:10

Off to the Challenge Cup final at Wembley its our usual annual day out. Although this year I have a wheelchair. Husband left it too late to get two disabled seats together but he could get one and a wheelchair space. Luckily my uncle had an old wheelchair collecting that he was only to happy to offload to us.

Hidingwithcoffee · Today 09:13

I am sat looking at my ankle. Rolled out yesterday running for a ball for DC. Foot went into a hole, ankle went sideways. Hurt like he'll. Is now puffy like a tennis ball on one side. I've had or elevated all night which has helped. We love in a 3 storey house so I'm shuffling up and down on my bum.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · Today 09:17

Good morning lucysmam and others. I was up early and had two coffees and a cuppa with a slice of toast but I've retreated to bed as I'm feeling low. Not exactly ill, just unhappy. I will get up again shortly. I've decided to put off food shopping till tomorrow, so will potter about the house today. Mostly I will spend it in the kitchen, making soup and bread. Have a good day all

JudgeJ · Today 09:18

I'm up early for me, ie a time in single digits, the chiropodist is due at 9 30 so I'll be walking on air for a few hours.
Yesterday evening I rather foolishly cleaned the cooker hob, I took all the burners of and their metal tops. When I reassembled it one of the metal covers was missing, I searched the kitchen though they'd never been more then a couple of metres away. Eventually I gave up and went to bed, after all Tomorrow is another day, it would magically reappear but in bed I decided it must have fallen on the floor and been kicked under the cooker. When I got up I pulled the heavy range cooker out, it wasn't there, as I was pushing it back, now crumb free on the floor, I had a silly thought, maybe I put 2 caps on one burner, lo and behold there it was.
Later I will continue my war again ground elder.

lucysmam · Today 09:20

@HonestBrickJoker which particular thread can't you access?

@FamingolosForDays who are you going to see?

@JacknDiane thank you 😊. I do sometimes wish dd2 would relax with the school stuff a bit but she's determined to do as well as possible.

@DilemmaDelilah no! It's still missing. So annoying because it is 100% here somewhere, and the house is not a mansion! I wanted a bit of the fabric that's in there for a work display but 🤷‍♀️.

Agree, I am a lurker rather than a poster on these but always think what well brought up girls @lucysmamhas!

Morning all. Had my first tea in the garden, in the sun, in silence. My absolute favourite thing to do. Just had some breakfast and will take another tea out there with my book shortly.
Then after lunch a few of us are off to a spa! Very excited!
I have a less motivated child. He’s doing year one of T Levels exams but says he doesn’t need to revise, as it’s computers, just needs to DO IT so 🤷🏼‍♀️
Although with a crazy motivated older one, it is nice to have the first summer in years to be less dominated by revision sessions.

OchreSwan · Today 09:36

Good morning @lucysmamand all. I’ve just finished toast and a coffee in bed and pondering what to do with my day as DP is working.

Steeling myself to go for a run shortly, and then I think I’ll have no option but to tackle some cleaning and mess that I can’t put off any longer (I completely lost all will to do housework during the heatwave and have been on the back foot all week as a result). Will go to Waitrose for food shop before lunch as we’ve nothing in to eat! Think dinner will be a roasted veg and couscous salad as it’s still quite warm here.

Hopefully will fit in some time with my book and knitting somewhere too.

Kim82 · Today 09:42

Good morning all. It’s nice and warm again here today so I have the patio door open and all the windows to let some fresh air into the house.

I’m absolutely exhausted today, I didn’t get home from work until 10.20pm last night (despite getting to the office for 8.30am). It’s been an extremely busy and stressful week but today starts a week of desperately needed annual leave - hence having to stay so late last night to get things finished before I’m off.

Anyway, I’m on my own this morning, dh is at work and dd11 has gone away for the weekend with one of her school friends. I was rudely awoken at 6.30am by a bee that had come in the window but couldn’t get back out so my planned lie in didn’t happen. At least it means I’m on washing load number 3, I’m showered and dressed, Tesco delivery put away and I’ve started the usual Saturday house blitz - I’m just having a quick break for a cup of tea.

Today’s plan is to finish cleaning while I have an empty house then I need to drive to dd18’s uni to pick up her and all of her things as she’s moving back home today - yay! She’s decided to commute from home next year to save money and I’m more than happy to have her back.

This evening we’re having roast chicken and salad baguettes for tea, dh will no doubt start packing for his week away (he goes on Monday - hence me being on annual leave to be here for dd11 before and after school). Then tonight to celebrate dd coming home we’re having a wine, cheese and film night which I’m looking forward to. DD’s friend is coming over as she wants to join our wine night, it’ll be lovely to see her as they’ve been friends since they were around 5/6 but then went to different colleges/uni’s so they haven’t seen each other much - me and dh haven’t seen her for almost 3 years and she spent most of secondary school at our house every weekend so we’re all looking forward to catching up with her. I did offer to go out somewhere with dh so the girls could have the evening to themselves but she wants us to stay in with them which is nice. It should be fun!

Hmmm I always announce highly mo motivated ideas on this thread every week and then don’t do them 🤭

told you all over the last few weeks that I have been trying to see if I can make my booktok into a side income … so far I have made £100 , there’s another £20 transferring shortly and I have £40 worth of commission that is fingers crossed going to clear over the next two weeks. I have a £20 bonus to do if I make five videos today but I’m umming and arrring over it…

im going to put a wash load on and get it out in the sunshine.
I’m going to order the monthly frozen shop and I’m going to wash up and thoroughly clean the library.

husband at work untill 11 (doing some overtime to pay the roofers 🤪)

18dd asleep after coming in at a very late (early) time last night, she’s working at 5 so I’ll leave her till half 3.

ds 15 has been on his paper round and is going to meet his friends at the local fair this afternoon.

i plan not to leave the property boundary 😆

@daffodilandtulip I'm jealous of your silent garden!

The birds here have been very vocal since 4am and our neighbours have been in their garden chatting and laughing since 6am 😖 although I suppose that's a lie in as it was 5.15am yesterday...

Tinytwinle · Today 09:45

Im having a migraine hangover.
So im doing next to nothing all day.
Thankfully i dont have any chores to do, and live alone so just a quiet day and nap on and off.

BitOutOfPractice · Today 09:47

I’m sitting on the balcony watching the world go by in the park below (park run is just finishing) and the Swans on the river while drinking my second cup of tea and eating a lovely biscuit my friend sent me yesterday.

I will stir my stumps soon to go to the gym. Then this afternoon we’re off to a friends for a bbq in the sunshine. Going via m&s to buy dessert because I CBA to make one.

All of this will be done wearing surgical stockings as I had an op on Wednesday. My god I’m sick of them already.

@DilemmaDelilah I love the sound of flapjack furniture! ☺️

Oh I love the first couple of hours. The neighbours will be out soon, until the small hours, screaming, shouting, FaceTiming, hot tub-ing, playing music and generally being obnoxious.

DilemmaDelilah · Today 09:50

@BitOutOfPractice whoops I missed that! Autocorrect 🙄. Although I have been making flapjacks recently - and I'm making some for a friend's wedding soon.
