Not very long ago, this sort of sentiment would be seen only on the openly racist far right.

White gangs? Surely not.

To be clear - all SA/rapists deserve punishment imo whatever their heritage - edited to add that imo is not the death penalty and if it were then definitely not just for whom Lowe seems ‘foreign’ - that is sickening beyond words.
Totally agree with this @MsJinks

The Reform/Restore cheerleaders don't have much more than insults to contribute.

Yes particularly rude and bad-tempered this morning along with the name-calling

And pushing the notion of civil unrest. Pouring petrol on to the flames, like their heroes.

There was an influx of accounts during the summer of 2024 - very supportive of the rioters. I have no doubt that the same people are still active on MN.

I reported a post for hoping there would be violence against a select group of people - and was told it didn't break Talk Guidelines. So I guess MN is on board.

Yes. I think you're right. MN has changed for the worse since the 2024 riots.

Looking at the amount of agitation on the Web, I guess we have to be thankful for this week's slightly shit weather.

Piggywaspushed · Yesterday 13:28

Do you think there will be a push towards a referendum on the Death Penalty? That really scares me.

Piggywaspushed · Yesterday 13:29

I believe Henry Nowack’s family are waiting for the outcome of the IOPC report.

They have asked the Government to ensure that the IOPC have the resources and independence to carry out a comprehensive investigation.

Beyond that - for now - politicians need to shut up.

His family have also asked for his death not to be used to manufacture outrage against specific communities.

I like all of the above yet I still get Farage and Voice of Wales on my FB feed.

I never look at the main feed - I use FB only on my phone where there is an option for a friends feed. That gets adverts, but other than just your friends’ posts. Sadly it isn’t available on the iPad app. Don’t know about going vi the website.

Sorry, I forgot I needed disclaimers now for the hard of thinking, but yes, I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I think we really shouldn’t need disclaimers for normal thinking people. And I know I don’t specifically on this thread with regular/nice new posters but my words have been used in other threads before - the fame ha! So it’s now a thing I remember to do occasionally.

That’s commendable of them - though who would want their child’s death to be recalled for this abhorrence of manufactured outrage.

I’m not sure where it leaves the more (equally revolting) focus on Islam being the main issue - or is it useful now to find yourself able to include all non white brits - which is Lowe’s hope if not actually always Tommeh’s strangely.

SerendipityJane · Yesterday 14:50

TL;DR is that British fascists are so venal and greedy they can never consolidate

What a shame. We can't even get that right !

Birmingham still remembers the father who begged for peace even before his son was in the ground in 2011

Tariq Jahan delivering speech

2011 riots Birmingham: How Tariq Jahan stopped a race riot

When three Asian men were killed in Birmingham protecting businesses from black looters, many feared the city faced a race riot. Yet a speech by a grieving father is now credited with almost single-handedly bringing the city back from the brink.

So moving - I recall this now you’ve reminded me. Such brave, brave people amongst us.

It is so sad too that this has to be done - the loss is surely bad enough without having to consider others and their actions. Personally, I would expect some respect for the main victims’ views - that seems too hard for some to hear though.

placemats · Yesterday 16:14

Using the grief, pain and sorrow of a family as a weapon to facilitate and foment disorder and division is an incredibly shitty thing to do.

Many mumsnetters aren't listening to what the family has said. It is pretty sickening out there and very sad.

Imagine how much worse it could be if they were parents ?

Notonthestairs · Yesterday 16:49

Why do you think Yusuf peddled his ‘white people are the most discriminated against’ nonsense at the weekend?
It was deliberately said just before the hearing yesterday as a forerunner to Farage’s comments. Concerted effort to stir up tensions and give them credence.
Using that poor boy’s murder for political gain - against the families wishes and before the investigation is concluded.
