Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my conservatory spot before it gets too hot! I've been out to water my plants with my new hose pipe spray attachment but don't think I like it so will do the rest with the watering can 🙈.

The cats have had breakfast & are currently bird watching in here too. Girl cat will probably follow dd2 back upstairs when she goes - she's just hijacked dd's glass of water 🤣. I'm not sure where boy's gone.

Todays plan is to re-pot my violets in their new hanging basket - the one they were in fell down and broke. I want to paint the hallway ceiling too. And that's probably it! Maybe sort peg dolls for painting since I didn't get to them yesterday but I think my paints will dry very quickly in this heat. The rest of the day might be spent reading or crocheting.

Dd needs to tidy her room since we were out longer than planned yesterday, and she wants to do some biology revision.

Tea will be roast chicken with salad and maybe new potatoes, or in wraps. I might nip for a bottle of something to go with it, and I might make some no churn ice cream for afters.

What about all of you? 🌞

Good morning lucysmam and others. Ive had 2 coffees, 2 slices of toast and a cuppa. I've tidied the kitchen and zipped over the floors with the hoover. Currently I'm waiting for a tesco delivery. Before it comes, I will clean most of the windows and mirrors. The rest of the housework was done yesterday. Later I will potter in the garden and have leftover takeaway for dinner. Enjoy your day

Morning @lucysmam
Fairly standard Sunday here. Cat fed and had her medication, me fed, just finishing my coffee. Off to my class in about half an hour.
It's still quite overcast and cool here, but looks like it's clearing up a bit.
DH will do a shortish run, as he has a 10 mile race next Sunday.
DS is still asleep but hopefully will be back on history revision later. He's had a couple of days off. Only the 2 short history papers left thankfully.
Footie at 4, F1 at 8. If the weather improves maybe a BBQ in between. If not sauages and lentil simmer and garlic bread.
Should really see my mum or go to my volunteering role but not sure I can be bothered to do either of those!
Need to have a look at my vegetable seedings and do a bit of weeding too.
Not back at work until Wednesday so no urgency 😀
Happy Sunday

Just finished an hour's call after twenty texts to support my middle child. She lives at university and we're so proud she is managing to live away and has a part time job because she also has some additional needs. I love her, but God in Govan do I sometimes want to strangle her. Cleaned the bathroom and about to iron in front of the tellyboggle. Any suggestions (for the TV, not for setting fire to the ironing) welcome.

Chipsahoy · 24/05/2026 09:59

A cool cloudy morning in ne Scotland. We’ve had breakfast and that’s it so far! Chickens, cats and dog fed. Will do a bit of tidying and laundry then a day gardening. We’ve five roses to plant and pumpkin plants to put in the patch and then figure out something to keep deer off then.

We moved here a few years ago and have been (and still are) renovating inside. We are now trying to work on the gardens a bit more too.

Have a lovely day.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 24/05/2026 10:02

Good morning @lucysmam & The Sunday Crew. Awake since around 7 but still not dressed - will have a shower & wash my hair once DH has finished. On my 2nd cuppa & have had 3 raspberry cream digestives. Sorting out the mountain on my bedroom stool. I have clothes to put away, some to try on & some to add to the Vinted pile including a pair of Levi’s from the charity shop which hopefully will make a few bob. Need to put the rest of my brooches in my 2nd Temu display case. So pleased with them! No other plans as yet. Tempted to avoid the crowds & sit in the garden with the bunnies & a book. It’s a lovely day here. Not sure we have the super high temperatures of some areas though. The dishwasher needs doing as per & I have a couple of bras to hand wash. Very unseasonal tea of pie, mash, peas & gravy. DH & I may go for a walk this evening. Oh & DD will come with me to visit DM late afternoon. Have a great day all ❤️

Good morning all. Beautiful sunny day here in the South. Breakfast and cuppa in the garden, then I’m off to the allotment to put in supports for the tomatoes and get the watering sorted out. Finishing my self-assessment in the heat of the day as I suspect I’m owed a nice tax rebate and the sooner i apply for it the better.

DilemmaDelilah · 24/05/2026 10:06

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

We did go out yesterday and did quite a lot (for me) so I'm quite tired today. So - nothing planned. There is a wash on already and I would like to dry it on the line but Mr Dilemma has a HUGE aversion to drying anything on the line so it will probably be just my few bits that go out there. Mr Dilemma has sorted out a lot of his clothes for our holiday so there are a couple of pairs of chinos in the machine and, to be quite honest, I don't fancy doing much ironing so I don't really mind those being done in the dryer. It won't cost us anything in energy as we have solar panels and an A+ rated dryer. Yesterday we were running the whole house, including the dryer, purely on solar and still exporting the excess.

I may do some sewing later - I usually do it in the conservatory/dining room as it has the best light, but it's a bit hot in there. I will ask Mr Dilemma to open all the windows (we have big tilt and turn windows) in there and the double doors, which may make it bearable although probably full of flying things.

Were just about to play scrabble, something we're doing a lot of nowadays as it helps take my mind off food and my tummy rumbling.

Salad for lunch today, chunky fish fingers and green beans for supper this evening. Mr Dilemma will have his with chips and peas. I would like mine with chips and peas as well, but not good for my diet. I have, however, discovered that Heinz now do a zero added sugar tomato ketchup which means I don't need to be quite as careful about the amount of it that I'm going to eat. It's actually OK.

Tiddlywinks63 · 24/05/2026 10:09

Good morning everyone, oh boy it’s warm here 🥵, I honestly don’t tolerate it anymore.
I did the ironing at 7, deadheaded my roses and sorted out the chicken ready for roasting - well gave it warm with potato salad and bits. I rearranged the freezer to put a lasagna in, dug out some frozen fruit that we can have with yogurt.
That’s the extent of my efforts today!
I have wandered around the block with bigger dog, DH took tiddler out early, so they’re sorted.
I will get the fan plugged in later, at the moment it’s comfortably cool indoors; we’re lucky that by opening windows and doors front and back, there’s a gentle breeze through at the moment. We have tiled floors in the kitchen that stay really cool, that’s bigger dog’s preferred spot.
Enjoy the bank holiday weekend x

legosnowqueen · 24/05/2026 10:09

Good morning everyone, thanks for starting the thread @lucysmam

Already heating up here (West Yorkshire moors) so had an early dog walk on the edge of the moors. Having a coffee in the garden & planning my day. DH & I are splitting up & the houses is on the market, which is very slow, so will tidy the front garden & plant some geraniums in pots to increase kerb appeal!

DS & I will have croissants for breakfast in about an hour, before he heads off to work his restaurant job, which will be a long & hot shift. I’ve already prepared salads for tea tonight so - apart from washing & ironing - I intend to have a chill day & try to resist the temptation to dip into work.

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!

user1469565563 · 24/05/2026 10:14

I got up, did some watering in the garden and put a wash on. Now I'm having fried eggs with sourdough bread and freshly squeezed orange juice. Yes, its very warm already!

I have conposed a song with my sister, who needs it for her upcoming play, and she's coming over later with her guitar, so we shall see how it all sounds!

Later, my daughter and I are going to church for the evening service. DD feeling lonely, so I hope they have some young people there she can chat to.
Have a lovely Sunday, everyone!

DilemmaDelilah · 24/05/2026 10:15

Hmmm - Mr Dilemma is now in a strop because we had to move my dolls houses to ensure the windows would open properly... and he 'doesn't understand why I have to have everything open and it's not going to make it cooler' 🙄. However, the windows ARE now open which, hopefully, will make it bearable later on... he's not bad really.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 24/05/2026 10:19

P .S Excited to use my rather beautiful “Wet” detangling brush which I bought in TK Maxx recently. It’s the little things!

Kim82 · 24/05/2026 10:20

Good morning everyone. I’m still lounging about on the sofa drinking cups of tea, I’m feeling super lazy today. It’s lovely and warm already and I have the back patio doors and all the windows open downstairs to let all the fresh air in, it’s lovely. There’s just me and dh up so far, I was up at 8am and fed the cats and dh got up around half an hour ago. I need to nip back to Iceland today as I realised this morning were running out of cat food and teabags and I think I’ll pick up some ice creams for the freezer too as a treat this afternoon.

I have no other plans today, all the cleaning and washing is done so I’m hoping to be able to just relax in the garden in the sun most of the day. Ds’s boyfriend has been messaging me this morning as I think he wants to come round and spend the afternoon/evening with us which will be nice. I should probably pick up a couple of bottles of wine while I’m at the shop as no doubt we’ll have a few drinks in the garden. Dd18 will also want to have a couple of glasses too I imagine. Tea tonight will be chicken drumsticks, spicy rice and salad. I might have to bulk it out with some Garlic bread, corn on the cob and maybe some wedges as well as it seems likely we’ll have a few extras that I’ll be feeding but that’s fine.

I’ll have one more cup of tea then get off my backside, shower and back to the shops I go…

Oxborn · 24/05/2026 10:23

Just had my morning cuppa watching the cat chase a fly trying to find the energy to go to the gym and then watch Arsenal v Palace later with a little tipple

chickenfordinner · 24/05/2026 10:32

Morning all, we are away for the weekend, on the coast near the new forest and it’s beautiful! Lovely and sunny but not the ridiculous heat of London, with the added bonus of the beach - though the sea is freezing - DD12 went in yesterday but I declined 🤣

today we are going to potter in one of the towns then go for a walk in the new forest then back to our air B&B for easy tea and board games or a film.

have a lovely day all

maddiemookins16mum · 24/05/2026 10:38

I’m hanging out my 2nd load of washing and changing my cushion covers/throws etc to the summer ones.
Off for a swim around 1pm then to a BBQ at friends. Choir rehearsal tonight which will be hard work in a stuffy, non air-conditioned hall with 100 others. Oh and I’m boiling new potatoes for a potato salad to take to the aforementioned BBQ.

GoodkneeBadKnee · 24/05/2026 10:39

Me and DH have just finished planting out some flowers grown from seed. They look so relieved to be in out of pots and in the ground! Just had beans on toast for breakfast. Will get at least one wash load out on the line today. Later going to a football match with DH. Probably having a takeaway for dinner.

Peridot1 · 24/05/2026 10:43

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I’ve been up since 8 and have unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. We had friends over for a bbq last night so lots of washing up. Dishwasher has just finished so I can unload and reload again!

I had boiled eggs and toast and tea for breakfast. Cleared off the dining table from last night. Just finishing another cuppa and will go and have a shower. We are going to the village duck race today and we said we’d go and help set up at 11. Don’t think we’ll get there at 11 but will hopefully be in time to help. It’s a five minute walk.

Need to remember to drink lots of water and not too much wine. Famous last words! It’s going to be really hot. Also don’t want to be too late tonight. Need to be back in time to water all the plants.

I think we’ll plan to come back by 6. Maybe pizza in the garden for dinner.

BlackBean2023 · 24/05/2026 10:48

We’ve been pottering this morning - getting the washing done as it’s super hot here and will dry in less than an hour. I’ll be spending the day flitting between being in the garden in the sunshine and lolling in front of the telly moaning about how hot I am!

We’re going to dust the paddle boards off and head to the beach early evening.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 24/05/2026 10:59

Wow my brush is amazing!

ToadRage · 24/05/2026 11:01

My husband treated me to McDonalds breakfast and we are now watching telly procrastinating before we have to continue with our final assignments for this year's module which is due Tuesday.

SaltShark · 24/05/2026 11:05

Im staying in all day I hate the weather its making me ill.

Thislittlekitten · 24/05/2026 11:59

Afternoon everyone

I’m been doing not very much actually! Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH who is out with the dog now. Had a shower and dried hair. I’m meeting friends in a few hours.

DD sleeping, DS downstairs gaming. Cats snoozing. Windy but getting warm in NE Scotland. Already getting too hot for me 🙈

Shouldn't be a late one tonight she says 😬

Judellie · 24/05/2026 12:39

Good morning - well afternoon - everyone. Dropped my two off at church then came back and entered a few competitions and emptied the dishwasher.
DD has met a friend who's here visiting her brother who lives in our city now, and the two of them (DD and friend) are coming back here for baked potatoes for lunch then we're going to drive up to the coast for the afternoon and maybe finish with fish and chips.
DS wants to go round the shops and see his friends as usual and DH is painting something for his model railway in the garden. He must have been waiting for it to dry as he came in to get the washing out of the machine to go and hang it out.

Rainbow1235 · 24/05/2026 13:07
