Muscadet for me. I also really like the volcanic mineraly dry whites you get in the canaries but they're not that easy to get here.

Sangiovese for a red and a cremant or cava for fizz

MissyB1 · 16/05/2026 17:17

I don’t drink red at all - much to dh’s disappointment. I love a Rose, my favourite being La Veille Ferme (the chicken wine). Incidentally Aldi’s own version of this is brilliant! The only white wine I like is Vermentino.

Endofyear · 16/05/2026 17:19

Buffalo Ridge zinfandel rosé, nice and chilled!

Pieceofpurplesky · 16/05/2026 17:19

Nero D'Avola please

Fishingboatbobbingnight · 16/05/2026 17:20

Chicken wine !!

RS1987 · 16/05/2026 17:20

Chianti for red, cote de Provence for rose and Gavi for white

Papyrophile · 16/05/2026 17:21

Spanish or Southern Italian whites. I'll go with a verdejo or an albarino or a fiano.

Generally I like Spanish reds too, tempranillo or garnacha, so Rioja or Navarra.

Favourite reds have been Kiwi pinot noirs, from Martinborough or Central Otago but too expensive to drink in the UK, and hard to find.

Squirrelchops1 · 16/05/2026 17:22

Currently into a good chianti.

SabrinaThwaite · 16/05/2026 17:22

White - Albariño / Alvarinho, or Vino Verde or Rioja
Red - Amarone (if you’re paying), or a Montepulciano or Malbec
Fizz - Cava

ETA: Gavi for white too.

Witchonenowbob · 16/05/2026 17:24

Campo Viego Rioja

Chicken Rose wine

cheers

Sproutling · 16/05/2026 17:25

oops, for white that should be, Ontanon Rioja Blanco (I read the label on the red rioja lol)
Also enjoy an icy cold Sauvignon Blanc at our local, cant remember what its called

FloofyKat · 16/05/2026 17:26

A New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, please, Cloudy Bay if you can afford it.
Reds - I do like Primitivo….

DomPom47 · 16/05/2026 17:28

Nytimber. An expensive treat - well worth the cost. Best glass of wine.

PersephonePomegranate · 16/05/2026 17:33

Oooh for a red, I'd like a Malbec, please, 250ml 😄

I generally prefer whites: Sav Blanc (Marlborough, please), Picpoul, Viognier or Sancerre if I'm somewhere nice.

Pretty pedestrian, really.

CanterThroughChaos · 16/05/2026 17:40

Red - 19 crimes
white - gavi
rose - Provence

WhatAMarvelousTune · 16/05/2026 17:43

Whatever the driest white wine you’ve got is.

Unfortunately alcohol stopped agreeing with me so I don’t drink it anymore. And alcohol free wines can never get the dryness.

WhatNextImScared · 16/05/2026 17:44

Cremant for me, thank you!

Greenfingers37 · 16/05/2026 18:03

Red-Rex Mundi which is a Shiraz Grenache only available from Laithwaites
White-Oyster Bay or Villa Maria Savvy B
Rose-Whispering Angel

ImWearingPantaloons · 16/05/2026 18:24

A nicely chilled Sancerre please.

Failing that a Sauvignon blanc.

lilaccamille · 16/05/2026 18:41

Viognier for a white. And a good Provence Rose. Amarone for a red. Crement for sparkling. You choose what to pour me OP, happy with any of those.
Cheers

weegiemum · 16/05/2026 18:50

A Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from NZ, good ones like Mussel Pot, Cloudy Bay, Sunday Bay that we order when they’re on offer from Laithwaites! Also Tesco do a nice version in their “Finest” range.

I don’t like much red wine, but would have a Malbec or Cabalié with steak.

I avoid rosé.

FlashHeartFly · 16/05/2026 18:54

Aluado Alicante bouschet please. Although will happily accept most Portuguese reds

PermanentTemporary · 16/05/2026 18:58

About once a decade - Vintage Dom Perignon.

Generally - Picpoul de pinet.
I like a Rioja if someone hands me a glass of red.

cubistqueen · 16/05/2026 19:00

A Muscadet or Pinot Grigio for white. Preferably Italian. Tesco actually do a decent Pinot Grigio for about £6 that we all like here.
red - Shiraz or merlot from NZ or Oz. Occasionally a Tempranillo.
rose - something French and mega dry like a Provence.
really don’t get the chicken wine love 💁🏻
Love prosecco in high summer and cava anytime.
Special occasions is always a piper heidseck
