I just feel so unwell and fragile .
Maybe I've got a virus or something,

Same. I thought I had the start of a cold but it’s hay fever. I don’t remember having it this bad in previous years.

JackJarvisEsq · 15/05/2026 21:26

This is my worst season in around 30 years. Ended up getting the injection, its been a revelation

Nitgel · 15/05/2026 21:33

I take the orange packet Piriton which helps alot but makes me sleep for ages

Nitgel · 15/05/2026 21:34

What's the injection Jack?

limetrees32 · 15/05/2026 21:37

I just feel such a wuss.

DH gets very distressed with hay fever. It’s awful. You have my sympathies.

SJM1988 · 15/05/2026 21:44

Its so much worse this year for me.
I thought I was coming down with something but so many people have said they feel the same way I'm more inclined to think its hayfever now.

Notmeagain12 · 15/05/2026 21:48

Yes first year I’ve actually had more than a few sneezes and “ooh wonder if I’ve got hayfever”.

think it may have been triggered by a trip and constant AC/HVAC drying out my sinuses/skin and making it more sensitive. Why Americans are obsessed with it I don’t know as it makes me feel awful.

i feel terrible. Exhausted, my face aches from my eyes through my teeth. I tried antihistamines which make me feel better but so tired. I’ve just discovered Beconase which seems to help.

and yes really teary and stressy. Everything is too much.

sallydoodlecat · 15/05/2026 21:50

I managed to get mine sorted two years ago. I now take TreatHay which is fexofenadine. It’s been a game changer. Really helped me. I do still get it a little but nowhere near as bad. Hay fever is horrid. People don’t realise just how miserable it can be.

LooneyLiberalSpaceWaster · 15/05/2026 21:50

I have allergies to all airborne allergens. There is a lot of rapeseed being grown this year.

I don't get itchy eyes or sneezing anymore, it just goes straight for my sinuses, ears and throat. I now have vertigo. But I live with it all year round because of mould spores, even a walk outside in the rain requires me to have taken antihistamines.

I'm not tearful, but I am grumpy at times.

Husband now suffering from hay-fever and he's a grump too.

MelOfTheRoses · 15/05/2026 21:57

It has definitely been a much worse year for tree pollen than I can remember. I get very tired when I have symptoms, and very tired with antihistamines and have a bit of a cough going.

Boots have the fexofenadine in, so I may give that a go.

I feel worn out by it all.

EmeraldRoulette · 15/05/2026 21:59

I started this thread at the weekend

Then I decided I must have a virus

Now I don't think I have

To complicate matters, I'm having some particularly horrible dental work done and I grind my teeth - which is the cause of the dental work

However, I increasingly think the facial pain is from hayfever.

@limetrees32 you are not being a wuss.

The steroid?

EmeraldRoulette · 15/05/2026 22:01

And I get really bad SAD so to feel ill in summer seems unfair

it's not normally this bad - there is something strange about it this year. Normal things aren't helping. It's normally dealable with.

JackJarvisEsq · 15/05/2026 22:03

Yes it’s a steroid, Kenalog.

its not without its potential side effects but this year I took the plunge as I was so miserable

Kerri126 · 15/05/2026 22:04

Mine has been bad this year and seemed to start much earlier (tree pollen). I tried the injection as it worked wonders for my husband last year, sadly not so much for me. Been sucking on my asthma pump like I smoke 20 a day, I rarely need to use it outside of hayfever season. The breathlessness really freaks me out and I feel so generally miserable.

CaptainCalm · 15/05/2026 22:04

Awful this year, very chesty, blocked ears, sore throat and raspy voice.

I also wondered if it was a bug but on balance I think it was hayfever for me. Luckily it seems to have stopped mid week for me

piscofrisco · 15/05/2026 22:05

I’ve had hayfever this year having never suffered with it before. Particularly unhelpful as I work on a farm! I genuinely thought there was something seriously wrong with me then I realised what it was. (And it is serous as it’s making me feel permanently rough, but not life threatening obvs).

SproutingBee · 15/05/2026 22:09

It’s particularly bad today. Can’t drive because my eyes are so bad.

I take this too. Three tablets a day at the moment which is above the recommended dose but safe. It’s not working as well as usual despite increasing the dose!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 15/05/2026 22:18

Yes. Been bad this year even with tablets.

I’m getting the fenoxafadine this weekend at boots.

Mine is the worst it has ever been 😳

The injection is life changing. I have had a tiny bit of itchy eyes so far this year and that’s it. I’m usually miserable.

xanthomelana · 15/05/2026 22:27

Where’s everyone getting this injection from please?
