They will probably be raging that they never thought of doing that themselves!

I'd say I'd get applause if the offender takes note..

I wonder how many women feel safe enough to fall asleep on public transport.

Me, for one. What's the danger (other than being snarked at if I snored)?

Smoothquark · 12/05/2026 10:28

Of all the people to admire @beigetriangle , someone who would have likely really embarrassed this person, is not one of them

You honestly can't think why a woman on her own and fast asleep on public transport might be at risk?

I got told off for chatting in the quiet carriage. I was well pissed off because on Great Western trains the wheelchair spaces are in the quiet carriage only. I didn’t have a choice of carriage and I wanted to chat! I told her to mind her own business.

you sound lovely (not)
Wheelchair spaces are in several places on GWR and not usually in the quiet coach.

Gotbitsin · 12/05/2026 18:25

Oh I can just imagine this unpleasant woman. All jabbing fingers and looking like she’s permanently sucking a lemon.

🤣 🤣🤣 the answer is plenty. Esp on long distance trains running late because of track maintenance on hot Sunday afternoons.

I think I'll make up a little laminated note in big capital letters saying "This is a quiet carriage, please observe" or something like that. Then shove it in the offender's face with a wry grin or grimace depending on my mood. No verbal interraction required. Hmph. Better take my Hrt on time that day!

Such a classic mumsnet post!

I bet you often tell posters to respond to CFs with “no is a complete sentence” @maftan ?!

okay. The 8:03 I normally get from Paddington on Saturdays only has wheelchair spaces in carriage A, the quiet carriage. So I have no choice. Better?
know it all

Not his fault. Hardly comparable to blasting loud music. If she had kicked him, I'd hope he'd call the police on her.
