Veiledveritas · 09/05/2026 13:41

Is it possible to do this if i cut all carbs apart from occasiomal brown rice and stick to salad at lunch, salmon/cod with spinach and brocolli for dinner.
I already drink 2-3 litres of water daily and take green tea, mult vit snd vit D supplements. I hsve just started a probiotic.
Exercise will be 30mins ex bike snd 1hr daily walk.

It is possible but it is a lot. You will need to ensure you keep a focus on portion size to make sure you are in a deficit.

dont rely on calories burned, but calculate your tdee for a sedentary lifestyle then work out your deficit to lose…. You need to be looking at 1500 deficit per day which is a massive amount.

why the month deadline? You’d be better aiming for 2lb per week and allowing yourself time to get there rather than rushing….

I"ve just booked a holiday!

Probably not but even if you did you are likely to put it all back on. Rapid weight loss isn’t sustainable.

I"ve put on 10Ib in 2 months due to foot injury so not even been able to walk withot a boot. I've eaten a lot of bread, pasta and drank too nuch wine feeling fed up!

That’s a lot when you are already very slim
probably more likely If you were 13 stone
I’d be delighted to only weight what you do!

Me and my sister do slimming world and one woman lost 8lbs on her first week the other week but she was at least 13-14stone I’d say but you can look at their website and they have a 7 day plan that you could maybe tweak a bit?

That doesn’t change the fact that rapid weight loss isn’t sustainable.

PotatoFan · 09/05/2026 15:44

Unlikely to be possible given your starting weight

Morepositivemum · 09/05/2026 15:47

I honestly wouldn’t think so, I lost a stone over 5/6 months cutting out a lot of junk and cutting carbs right down. Even though I was eating polar opposite to the crap I was before it took about two months before I’d lost even a few pounds

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 09/05/2026 16:06

It would be very unhealthy. Just go on holiday and enjoy yourself.

Avocadoo · 09/05/2026 16:52

You would lose that fairly easily on the human being diet by petronella ravenshear. It’s not meant to be a quick fix one off. Treat it as a way to change habits and move to healthier eating. You need to read the book to understand the rationale but honestly, it’s surprising how much drops off.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 09/05/2026 16:54

I’ve lost 11lbs in 6 weeks, from a far higher starting point.

I’m going to assume that no it’s not possible, certainly not healthily, and I’d just take that extra stone on holiday with me. The people there won’t even know you’ve brought it with you.

somanychristmaslights · 09/05/2026 16:56

It’s not realistic. You’d need to create a 12,250 calorie deficit every week to lose 14lbs in one week. Cut your calories too low, you’ll end up just binging anyway. Set a more realistic goal and focus on achieving that and you’ll more likely succeed.

The op is in tne overweight bmi category, she isn’t very slim.

op, it’s doable but you’re going to gain it back immediately, you need to eat ina. Defecit of 1500 cals a day to lose 3 lbs a week. I’d work out whay you burn off, but you’re likely looking at a very low cal diet of 800-1000 cals a day, so will lose muscle and not fat.

id focus on 2lbs a week weight loss, and do it healthy, I know it’s only 8 lbs in a month but you’re more able to protect your muscle.

tennissquare · 09/05/2026 16:58

@Veiledveritas, you can loose a lot using the Human Being Diet - it’s calorie deficient and no exercise. There is a Facebook group for more info - you have to buy/ read books to start it. It’s changed my life!!

Mum5net · 09/05/2026 16:59

If you lose 7-10 lbs it is still worth doing. I did 10lbs once at similar weight though two inches taller. Basically I doubled my exercise and halved my intake. 25 k steps a day meant I had to get up an hour earlier though. Kept it off for 7 yrs. Now contemplating doing it again .

No exercise unless physically unable is not a positive

In that case, it will probably take you about the same amount of time to lose it again.

SixLeggedSugarBug · 09/05/2026 17:16

If you have been eating lots of bread you may be a bit bloaty, I always find I lose a few lbs in the first week of a diet because any bloat caused by eating crap comes off when I clean it up. If that’s the case here you have a good head start and can then aim for 2lbs per week and that seems more achievable. You might not lose a stone but you will feel better.

Kitt1 · 09/05/2026 17:23

@Safarisagoody She’s not overweight, don’t be ridiculous! She mentioned being short and muscular so the bmi calculation won’t be very accurate in her case.

I agree that trying to lose a stone in a month would mean she’d hardly eat a thing and probably feel very ill. She could definitely lose at least 8lbs if she was careful with her food choices and exercise though.

Newnamesarehard · 09/05/2026 17:27

No shot at your stats you can lose a stone of actual fat in 4 weeks. A few lbs + a bit of water weight, but nothing drastic.

Newnamesarehard · 09/05/2026 17:30

Oh god, someone mentioning BMI, ridiculous to assume she's not thin because of BARELY being into the overweight on a very very outdated and inefficient guide.

Off the back of her saying she's got muscle no less. Joker

I"ve never aspired to be thin! I've had an athletic build since i was 14 (horse riding and swimming).
This extra weight gain has gone on my stomach.
But i will take it slow and steady!
