Very pale lips

Does anyone else have very pale lips? Sometimes they are so pale they just blend into my face and it looks like I don’t have a mouth! Occasionally they go a greyish blue colour.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get a bit more colour into them? I’m fed up of looking like death.

I’ll try and add a photo…

Have you considered lipstick?

Have you considered lipstick?

I’m sorry but this really made me laugh!😀

I have had a few medical issues and one side effect is pale lips so I’d be interested in the answers (even if it is lipstick!)

Blimms · 05/05/2026 20:13

Taking iron supplements really help me with this. Are your lips quite dry?

Plasticdreams · 05/05/2026 20:14

What kind of medical issues out of interest? Are they autoimmune related?
I would have my lips tinted with a natural blush colour and would definitely wear some tinted lip balm in the meantime as they look a little dry too.

Overtheatlantic · 05/05/2026 20:16

Mine Are like this, and I hate it. I just keep applying lipstick all day.

For me it was low iron. However, I think hypothyroidism can cause pale skin/lips too.

JellybeansNellybeans · 05/05/2026 20:18

Yeah, I’ve tried lipstick but it wears off.

They are bit dry right now, definitely need some lip balm!

You could get lip blush. It’s basically a tattoo on your lips, so a permanent stain. You don’t need to get a bright colour, they can just make them look a natural pink! I’ve seen some really great results and it lasts a long time.

JellybeansNellybeans · 05/05/2026 20:20

I had considered if I might be anaemic but the GP said my bloods were normal. I got tested for hypothyroidism too and that was normal

Honestly look into lip blush! And look at pictures of when it is healed; don’t be put off by the freshly done pictures. It is the best, most natural treatment I have ever had and has just restored a natural tint to my lips.

JellybeansNellybeans · 05/05/2026 20:25

Does it hurt?

I had tattooed lip blush - worst pain of my life. Would definitely not recommend!
I will not be getting it redone despite it wearing off now.

You could try the Wonderskin lip tint. It goes on bright blue, leave for about 30 seconds then wipe off. It lasts a long old time throughout the day. If you wear make up, I’d put it on first, as I find it can take off the make up around your mouth when you take it off.

hatsoff234 · 05/05/2026 20:26

No, not at all

Overtheatlantic · 05/05/2026 20:26

I’ve used Wonderskin lip stain with decent results. Put it on after you brush your teeth in the morning.

Springbuck · 05/05/2026 20:31

I’ve had lip blush done. Here’s a photo, I have a bit of clear lip gloss on. It’s expensive, mine was around £300 if I remember correctly. But I had it done four years ago and it hasn’t faded at all.

JellybeansNellybeans · 05/05/2026 20:34

Googling lip blush now - I had no idea this existed. Looks amazing

I’m the same but have low blood pressure problems

Keroppi · 05/05/2026 20:42

Drink tonnes of water
NHS iron levels are very low compared to what is considered healthy/optimal for a woman- so find your level exactly from gp or nhs app and google it or put it into ChatGPT
Maybe take liquid iron supplement anyway as they are helpful for b12 too
Buy a nice lip scrub and a mosurising lip mask like Laniege
Or something from the korean beauty section in boots
then slap a load of vaseline over it at night to seal it in

Just checked and my Ferritin was 18 in March. Haemoglobin concentration was 129.

I have this, really loving the tattoo type peel off lip stick. It does last all day, a tad drying though

eurochick · 05/05/2026 20:56

I have the same issue and use Benetint with a lip balm over the top once it has dried if I don’t want lipstick.

I also have low ferretin.

Sorry, don’t want to hijack the thread. Did your photo not load? Would love to see it. I’m considering lip blush but all the photos on the galleries of the places near me that do it don’t look great so it looks like I’m going to have to travel further for it. Did yours hurt?

HaveYouTrumped · 05/05/2026 21:04

Isn't 18 really low??

Sorry I thought I’d added a photo. I will try again.
it didn’t really hurt, some areas felt a bit tender but the numbing cream worked well.
