How can police have tracked me

Vintedlover888 · 01/05/2026 16:04

I was reported to police for something the person only knows one of my surnames as I only use one but the police obviously know who I was as they called my mobile

Rough area and name is enough to find you. Hope you’re ok.

But they only had one of my names?

Why do you have multiple names? You can only have 1 legal name

They had your surname, presumably a rough location and your description it doesn't take long to track people down.

midlifeattheoasis · 01/05/2026 16:10

I’m sorry but you’re not making much sense

JohnofWessex · 01/05/2026 16:12

My late father had to trace people as part of his job - they were the beneficiaries of wills he was the executor of.

he always got his beneficiary.

Ditto when I helped the Solicitor administering my mothers best friends will - names only no addresses, he found them all.

If you do it all the time then you obviously get very good at it

BunnyLake · 01/05/2026 16:19

Well this is all very vague.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 01/05/2026 16:26

If you’re in any kind of legal trouble: stop posting about it, stop texting your friends / family / colleagues anything potentially related to this. Do not ask ChatGPT, Gemini or input any google searches related to that potential issue either.

Either get proper legal advice (from an attorney, not ChatGPT) or just do nothing (Edit: which is extremely difficult but still better than most alternatives).

How do you know it was the police?

How do you know it was the police?

Presumably the bloke on the phone had a Geordie accent and a really high pitched voice.

😁

And OP's name is Roxanne.

getupdostuffgotobed · 01/05/2026 16:54

I got stopped late at night whilst driving home on an odd route - motorway shut and other roads congested.

I gave my name and could hear all sorts of other information about me coming into his earpiece. Things that weren't on my driving licence.

All ok but interesting.

WonderingWanda · 01/05/2026 16:55

If you are concerned it wasn't the actual police who called you then the only way to ve sure is to go to the police station.....I guess if you aren't guilty of what you were accused of.

Tillow4ever · 01/05/2026 17:14

This is the third post I’ve read on here today being a bit vague about the police and possible crimes/finding the op/warning vs arrest. Trying to work out if it’s the sane person with different names trying to get advice from different angles, or if there’s genuinely multiple all at once!

ChocHotolate · 01/05/2026 17:19

Because they’re the police…? This is literally (one of) their job

Batties · 01/05/2026 17:20

Are you sure it was the actual police?

What kind of info?

just curious

I was thinking that the OP may have been …provoked. Or thrown water over someone.

You read the same posts! I was trying to find them. On the provoked thread I was going to ask if she’d thrown water over someone.

If you are the same poster, you are clearly very worried OP. Perhaps speak to a solicitor if you won’t or can’t share the full story for anyone here to help you.

Have you had any interaction with the police before? If so you’re on file

dalmationtux · 01/05/2026 17:36

Detectives detecting.

blacksax · 01/05/2026 17:42

What did the police say when they rang your mobile?

I was about to say how do you know she lives in a rough area 🤣
