Anyone else literally smash things up with rage? Cycle related?

As I type that I think it’s not normal. I’m sat at my desk literally screaming with rage between calls, my hand is sore from punching things and I’ve smashed two mugs. I’m ovulating today but I’m sure I don’t normally experience this but it’s more and more frequent.

anyone else?

Thanks @SingtotheCat i think being on the pill masked all of this for many years. I can remember being a school refuser for a period and feeling exactly like this, which was around when my periods started. Throw in a last ditch ivf attempt too and I genuinely think I’m going mad. I’ve gone from being that confident, take it all in their stride person, on everyone’s invite list, can solve anything to a wreck that’s just about keeping her cover to the outside world.

also suspect some form of undiagnosed autism / adhd. Are you taking anything for this?

I’m on the Mirena coil, Mediketnet (low dose for ADHD), Prozac and HRT. It’s working for me.
Make sure you aren’t brushed off by medics. This is seriously affecting your life x

Oh my god, this was me last june

eventually, as a dear friend the same age had found relief with HRT, I contacted a menopause specialist gp online

1 hr online consult later, many tears, long story short I started 25mg estrogen. Within a week the intrusive/suicidal thoughts were lessening

she diagnosed me with PMDD, as she said my local GP might not agree with HRT aged 41, and by writing PMDD on my notes they can continue to prescribe my HRT - but she explained that essentially I am in Peri- menopause.

after 3 months I felt sane again. 1 Year later am on 75 mg patches and so relieved for modern medicine. I would have been one of those women who had their head in the oven/spent all day drunk not so long ago…

GP advice can be hit and miss, so I recommend searching a menopause specialist. Not a gynaecologist as they are different.

Don't waste time, please go and find the best quality help you can x

It sounds like PMDD, potentially exacerbated by autism or ADHD (PMDD and neurodivergence is linked).

If you are able to cope with high stress usually but post ovulation you can't then it's probably PMDD.

I have it and it was clear because the same thing could happen at different times of the month and my reaction would be completely different.

I too felt suicidal at times, the rage I experienced was also all consuming. Strongly suspect I too am autistic.

Please see the GP - there is help out there for this but women's health isn't exactly well researched so go armed with info - to be fair, my doctor has always been good.

I have addisons disease

Before diagnosis I had 2 major symptoms

A long period of debilitating anxiety

And instances of complete and utter rage, especially around stressful times. I smashed up a cupboard with a hammer, jumped out of a moving car.
This is not my general personality AT ALL

I dont have any neuro divergence so just throwing this into the mix

Cortisol imbalance is now a new "trendy" diagnosis. This is bullshit. It doesn't affect you unless your adrenal glands have stopped working or for a few other medical reasons. It is something that needs to be investigated by a Dr and you will probably have other symptoms. But just an idea as this all sounds hideous for you

Slynd is a really good new generation mini pill that stops your cycles, great for PMDD. I get mine free via an online NHS funded service, no need to visit GP.

I was prescribed this by a modality gynae dr but her dismissal at my experience of painful examinations has led to me not trusting her.

please could you tell me more about this medication, do you take it all month round? I’m so worried about irregular bleeding, as horrific as my periods can sometimes be, at least I know when it’s due and can be prepared. HRT is not an option as they are finally agreeing with me after 25yrs of my insistence that I have endometriosis as now indicated on scans!!!!

I always thought progesterone levels were the cause of my mood swings, the more I read the more confused I become!

Yep, take it continuously, don't use the dummy pills, no reason for a bleed. I got mine from contraceptiondirect.uk

A bit of spotting when starting, but as progesterone keeps uterine lining extremely thin (I'm on oestrogel too so I need to keep it thin), any irregular bleeding for me was light and pants handled it fine.

There are other progesterone only mini pills too, or Mirena. But this one was recommended in particular as I didn't get on too well with Cerazette.
