Ok. Its a £10 million jackpot tonight. What would you do if you won?

I'll start. I think my shoulders would finally go down. Id know my kids had a brilliant start in life. Although I would only give them a million each so they kept working hard and trying. Id want to give them the lot but I dont think this would be good for them.
Anyway, I'd help out my friends. I dont have family im close to, I wouldn't even tell them. We are estranged.
And we'd both travel. Everywhere. Staying in lovely hotels that aren't airbnb or travelodges. And meals out instead of chippies and a bench.
Id get a newer house and maybe a couple of flats in places I love.
Id donate loads to charity and id help as many people as I could.
And id have top level private health insurance and hopefully kick health anxiety out the door forever.

So what would you do?

(P.S. ....i don't have a ticket...oh well...)

Cry. Then I'd go and buy some chocolate.

After that, I'd be down the estate agents.

ItsJustMeMyself · Today 18:04

Shit myself and then no idea 🤣

tryingtobesogood · Today 18:06

Leave my job, book an amazing holiday or two, sort my kids out. Get interior designers in to sort my house out. Get a housekeeper and chef.

I’ve just bought a ticket.

applecrumblespider · Today 18:07

Quit my job. Then figure the rest out.

readingismycardio · Today 18:08

Ok, so:
£4 mill savings
£2 mill to my toddler’s account (hopefully that’d get some interest by the time he’s 18)
£1 mill to my mother - she totally deserves it
£1 mill dream house
£1 mill travel
£500 k charity
£500k make my life better - personal trainer, etc

Bookloverforever · Today 18:08

Gosh it’s just such a large amount…

first of all I wouldn’t tell anyone and sit on it for a few weeks (probably while I finish the school year)

and spend some time making plans !

probably a nice house , travel , helping family and friends and kids . Just enjoying life

i do have a ticket

NinthBestOption · Today 18:10

Any time I think about this I tie myself in knots because I begin with what to give to friends and family then worry about the affects it would have on them eg giving a million to a 21yo who enjoys the party scene.

I'd leave work (which I don't hate), buy a slightly better house and maybe get cars on the sort of lease where they just bring you new ones when something goes wrong.

I'm not fussed about travel, I'd go to events I fancy and all the theatres.

Justbloodydoit · Today 18:10

I was thinking about this earlier 😂

I’d gift my nephews £1m each, my kids can have the same but much younger.

I’d give my mum some (80+ so no need for much), but it could help her move.

I’d give my sister another £1m

I’d repair the pool at school

Give the women’s refuge a big donation

I’d have to give a bit to my DH side, but they are already rich, but a bit of balance.

I’d create grant opportunities for existing charities.

I have enough money already.

mumofoneAloneandwell · Today 18:12

Flat in Mayfair - top floor, period building, three beds, two baths

Ideally a share of the freehold

G wagon

Mummy makeover

New teeth

A fun, part time nanny for dd

🥰

Ohdearwhatnow4 · Today 18:20

I'd pay DD student loans, shes just finishing her masters and needs somewhere to live (staying in area she is) pay 80%of houses the kids want they need to pay the other 20%with a mortgage. Probably move and make sure i had a annex or accommodation for my parents, buy a second home. Try to persuade my dh to retire. Help my nieces and nephew all get on property ladder and pay off their student loans. Pay for all the kids, and nieces and nephews to learn to drive and buy them sensible cars, paying for the upkeep for first 2 years.
Charity's I do/will support, air ambulance, mountain rescue, a local children's hospice, help the local care home, help for hero's and mental health.

Ladynightcourt · Today 18:21

There is a beautiful house round the corner from us that is about to come on the market, it’s a dream home so I’d buy that. Love our home, it’s everything I ever wanted and I’m so grateful for it but this other one is the dream. Then I’d book a holiday somewhere hot to relax while we sort out what to do with the rest and who to donate money to, how much and what to put into savings/trusts etc.

Oh and a facelift 🤪

Thunderdcc · Today 18:26

I would just keep going to work and pretend it hadn't happened for a while to come to terms with it 😅

I can't quite get my head round it, all my plans are more for the £1m level. Maxing out premium bonds doesn't make much of a dent in £10m! Also the kids still have school so we can't just go on some mad round the world adventure.

Maybe I would just keep living life the same until August!

sanityisamyth · Today 18:32

I’d carry on working. I love my job. I’d buy a house (currently renting) with stables and some horses. I’d buy a minibus for my Scout group too.

MyWildOliveGoose · Today 18:37

I would start by paying off all my debt. I’d buy a new car, as mine really is on its last legs. I’d have both my kitchen and bathroom redone as I hate them, awfully.

I’d put 500k in each of my kids current savings accounts, and I’d open new ones for them to put another 500k in so that when they access one, they don’t realise how much money I’ve actually set them up with - incase one day they fall on hardship for whatever reason, there’s another windfall there for them.

I would send a large amount to my mum, she definitely deserves it, she’s helped me so much over the years.. and also my nan so she can enjoy whatever is left of her life living financially free; she dreams of solo trips abroad but says they’re far too expensive now.

I would donate to charities close to our hearts, that have helped us, women’s aid, mind etc.. Then after travelling a bit, I’d also start a business that I’ve dreamed of for a long time.

Buscobel · Today 18:46

Some would go to children and grandchildren. Enough to buy the grandchildren a property each and enough for the children to move up the property ladder if they want to, or upgrade current houses.
I’d get a car and upgrade the one we have.
A bungalow would be good.
I’d decide on local charities to support more and national ones too.
We’d have a river cruise to somewhere DH has always wanted to go.

countrygirl99 · Today 18:49

Pay my horses vet bill

VillageMilton · Today 18:51

Buy jewellery. The good stuff.

Villanousvillans · Today 18:53

I’d buy land and stables so I could rescue horses and ponies. I’d open a coffee shop and bakery, onsite to create jobs. I’d try and run it like the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth.

JacknDiane · Today 18:59

Its a nice dream isn't it.

OP posts:
Whosthetabbynow · Today 19:00

Move. In a heartbeat.

dudsville · Today 19:03

I wouldn't tell anyone.

I'd quit my job.

I'd get decoraters in.

I'd pay for private health care and very myself an mot.

I would do up my mum's house, and pay for her to have a cleaner and errand runner, handy man, gardener.

I would give some money to other family members.

Then I would work out what to do with my freedom.

But the first thing, the decoraters. I would love that. I have old painted woodwork and doors, artex ceilings, I would like new radiators. My dh's office is a nightmare and needs proper thought and money to sort it out. The most ridiculous thing I would consider doing though is swapping my kitchen and dining room.

Gcn · Today 19:05

Move, although our house is fine it would be nice to be somewhere that's not overlooked. Buy my DB a house. £1million to each of the kids.

The petty bit of me would go into work and tell a couple of folk exactly what I think of them and then leave.

DugnuttEyeBoogies · Today 19:07

You might need more than 10 million for all of that OP! A house and a couple of flats could easily be a big chunk of it.

MeekSqueak · Today 19:08

I’d pay off my kids mortgages and stop working - whoop whoop!

MardyMillylala · Today 19:08
