I'll start. I think my shoulders would finally go down. Id know my kids had a brilliant start in life. Although I would only give them a million each so they kept working hard and trying. Id want to give them the lot but I dont think this would be good for them.
Anyway, I'd help out my friends. I dont have family im close to, I wouldn't even tell them. We are estranged.
And we'd both travel. Everywhere. Staying in lovely hotels that aren't airbnb or travelodges. And meals out instead of chippies and a bench.
Id get a newer house and maybe a couple of flats in places I love.
Id donate loads to charity and id help as many people as I could.
And id have top level private health insurance and hopefully kick health anxiety out the door forever.

So what would you do?

(P.S. ....i don't have a ticket...oh well...)

I love this game! Firstly, we'd never tell anyone we'd won anything, we'd make up a story about DH having developed some sort of data management programme and sold it to a big company. But I'd buy a lovely house that's for sale in the next village for 1.8m, and a little cottage at the coast, so that's probably 2.2m gone.
Then I've got my eye on a lovely bungalow for my mum that's 350k in this village, and I'd put another 500k into a high yield investment account for her to top up her retirement pot.
1m each into trust for the kids, not to be touched until they are at least 25.
1m to mil and fil, they'd pay off their house and travel I think.
My brother and dh's brothers are all horrifically irresponsible, I'm not sure we could give them the money outright but I'd allocate 1m each for them to be used for buying houses, investments in businesses that sort of thing. Then another 150k each into trust funds for my niece and nephew.

At this point we're at roughly 9 million gone, I'd use the remaining money as a seed fund to start a construction business building affordable houses in our local area because property is stupidly expensive here. I'd sell our existing house and use the money (roughly 700k) to bolster our personal retirement and investment portfolio.

Might skim off 100k for some nice holidays but I think with that setup we'd be able to afford whatever travel we wanted moving forwards anyway.

And we'd all live happily ever after!

Actually I'm revising this, 500k each into trust for the kids, I want it to be a lot, enough to buy them a house etc but not so much that if they know it's coming they will never feel the need to try to build something for themselves. The extra million can go into pensions and savings for DH and I. They'll likely get it all someday anyway but not when they are young and (potentially) stupid....
