How likely would you be to fall asleep

sleepy2026 · 21/04/2026 22:20

At work. If you had nothing to do, a fan on (white noise) and nobody else in work with you and you had about 5hrs sleep the night before?

i am trying to judge if my current tired/sleepiness level is normal! I do have an under active thyroid but it is medicated

Very likely! 🙈

EmeraldRoulette · 21/04/2026 22:22

Are you bored?

I'm a raging insomniac but the risk of falling asleep at work when I'm bored is always high! When I was a teenager doing temp jobs, all the temps used to talk about the comfort of the loos and whether or not you could actually fall asleep in one.

newornotnew · 21/04/2026 22:22

That seems a recipe for sleep!

No chance. I’d be bored but wouldn’t fall asleep.

NoYouCantComeToTheWedding · 21/04/2026 22:23

Five hours is a decent amount of sleep so pretty unlikely I think. If I'd only had 2 or 3 hours then it'd be much more likely!

Shinyandnew1 · 21/04/2026 22:24

I can’t imagine being at work with nothing to do! What job do you do!

This! for me 5 hours is nowhere near enough, and bored, white noise, no one else around??? I probably wouldn't fall asleep as I'm actually terrible at falling asleep during the daytime but... I would expect most people would

WonderingWanda · 21/04/2026 22:26

Unlikely for me. The only time I nod off anywhere other than my bef is when travelling on coaches long distance and I've had to take a travel sickness pill. I struggle to sleep in hotels, other people's houses, tents etc. Can't sleep during the day unless ill or experiencing extreme sleep deprivation (babies) or jetlag. Struggle to sleep at night often as well. Regularly exist on 5 - 6 hrs sleep.

I’ve NC so it would be outing but it’s effectively the equivalent of having say an admin job but you’ve done everything and nothing else to do that day

Very very unlikely to be relaxed enough to fall asleep at work, I do sometimes get bored and fidgety though

Haha some days are mega busy but the odd day isn’t. No work stress though which is the biggest thing for me

I work in inbound calls. I've nearly fallen asleep on calls to people in the midst of a busy office. I'd definitely be out for the count with your set up. Lol

Xmasbaby11 · 21/04/2026 22:32

No, I can’t imagine falling asleep at work! 5 hours isn’t a terrible amount of sleep. I would be tired but not enough to actually want to sleep at work.

Pricelessadvice · 21/04/2026 22:33

I have narcolepsy so very, very likely 😂

If you want to gauge whether your level of sleepiness is normal there is a scale they use to do that: https://www.msdmanuals.com/professional/multimedia/clinical-calculator/epworth-sleepiness-scale-ess

I definitely remember doing that before. Scored 6
I never wake up… refreshed would be a fucking miracle but I wake up thinking I just want to sleep for 10hrs and have to drag myself out of bed
sleep great, never wake up but am some kind of permanently exhausted pigeon rather than a lark or owl

I can't believe these posters saying 5 hours of sleep isn't too little. I'd be totally F'd!

Marble10 · 21/04/2026 22:38

I would definitely fall asleep 😴

donotmissyourchancetoblow · 21/04/2026 22:40

Very! I almost fell asleep at my desk last week. Third 12hr shift of 6, room was hot, only 3hrs sleep the night before, nothing for me to do (which is extremely unusual) I had to go and get fresh air to make it through to the end of my shift.

Unfortunately when you're SEND parenting and working it's pretty normal to get 5 hours sleep. Less sometimes. You just have to get used to it as the demands don't stop.

Cherryicecreamx · 21/04/2026 22:53

Not very. Only because my mind keeps me awake! Like just knowing I'm at work in general (and maybe someone could walk in on me?). Even if I told myself I'll just take a quick nap, the conditions have to be right and I have to be relaxed enough to make it happen.

AttentionPlease · 21/04/2026 22:55

Very unlikely. I don’t fall asleep easily, even when exhausted, and I need to be lying down and in the dark. I admire people who can nap but I’ve never been able to do it.

tofumad · 21/04/2026 22:57

Not at all likely. I never fall asleep accidentally. Have to work hard at it.

Fooledaroundandfellinlove · 21/04/2026 23:04

Definitely if I knew I wasn’t going to get caught.
