Could you do your job if you had diarrhoea 4-5 times during your shift? (Not caused due to a food poisoning or a bug)

That’s all really. Could you do your job if you had urgent diarrhoea 4-5 times during an 8 hour shift?

No. It would take me away for far too long.

@Iloveeverycat tablets?

I have severe 😭 and the tablets do help on a day-to-day basis, but if I am stressed or have sleep disruption - carnage ensues….

I have found that. I get anxious about going on car journeys and never go out for meals as mine is so unpredictable. I'm sure it doesn't help but I just cant help but get anxious about going out.

Nope. I work in retail and couldn’t just pop off that many times.

It’s manageable as a one off but definitely not regularly. Hope you can sort something out for your work OP.

I think that we've all been there and done that at my workplace (farm workers). Unless we're not fit to be out of bed, we're in work, because the workload is non-stop.

We don't always have an available loo at hand, either, so fields and slatted floors have been used where necessary (grim, but true; you just have to pray that nobody sees you!).

I could, and have on occasion. I work day-to-day partly from home and partly in-office, but the ratio is up to me outside of event days. For events, no I couldn’t work as I’m supervising guests and often children. Thankfully my GI issues are well-controlled at the moment so it’s not been a concern.

I have BAM too. I avoid eating all day at work to get through the day but I really regret not eating later on because not eating makes it 100% worse. Have you found anything that helps at all.

Yes and no ive had it for over 12 years now, I tried fodmap but that didn't help
The best thing I found was restricting food groups for months at a time and keeping a diary so that I could see what caused the worst reactions and changing my diet around it

Doing that I found cutting out dairy, pasta, nuts/seeds and high fat meats significantly reduced my chances of 15+ days
I do still get them but I can usually trace it back to something I wasn't as careful about

Yes, I wfh. I do have a lot of online meetings so if I needed to attend I would have to say “I’ve got a delivery”, “I’ll be back shortly” or something to depart for a few minutes.

I have IBS so I do pretty much every day. Its not a problem generally as I can easily step away from my work and go to the loo whenever I need to.
