What funny little quirks do your children have?

Tell me a funny quirk your child has.

I’ll go first.
DS5 - Loves adverts. Obsessed with fun jungles, we showed him Auto glass repair, auto glass replace and he went wild. Bonus if you know any other jingles we can show him.
DD6 - Uses “old people” phrases. If you say “see you next week!” She will say “god willing”. She’s got this from my dad who thinks it’s the funniest thing ever.

They both have pretty strong Scottish accents because they’re Scottish but they say certain things in my English accent. Mainly things like “okie dokie” and “oh dear” because they’ve heard me say them so much. They also refer to people as “mush” because their grandad universally refers to everyone as mush.

My youngest has recently learned to word literally, so everything is literally something. Space and Spain are currently interchangeable as places. He also, much less wholesomely, shouted "I'm the fucking winner" when his older brother generously let him win a race recently Grin

DS1 (10) is a bit too interested in finance/interest rates/if we have any investments. We jokingly call him 'boss baby'

DS2 (6) likes anything with a nice texture to stroke his face with...he keeps trying to steal DMs silicone pastry brush and her various make up puffs/exfoliating brushes.

One of mine from childhood - I liked to wear plain clothes so I'd blend in better if I accidentally time travelled.
I'm very normal as an adult 😀

I do love it when they invent words for things. Favourite was after a long regarding of the garnament my daughter came out with "I think I need .... leggycoat" (her puddlesuit) Now she is toilet trained they are rather less convenient, but we still call them leggycoats.

She's also a stickler for rules and manners, recently started enquiring "Shall we start?" when I put dinner on the table and telling us offifwe get stuck in before everyone is there. Her nursery (which we have to call "pre-school" because she is now "a big girl and nursery is for babies") teacher her better manners that I manage.

Every evening before bed we talk about our days at work/pre-school. DS (3) will tell us all about his ‘meetings’ at pre school with his friends 😂

Ive been with my grandson today and discovered that every time he sees someone in a wheelchair, using a wheeler or Motability scooter etc he shouts “tractor!”

My daughter used to love tv jingles too when she was little. “AO - let’s go” was a particular favourite and often bellowed in the car if we ever saw one of their lorries 🤣

Anyone from NE Scotland will know the Thistle Windows Aberdeen jingle played regularly on the radio….

Haven't lived there for yonks, is it still 706 treble 5? Grin

Nothing to add as my little one is too young to have developed any fun quirks yet, but on the jingle front, the Superfresco “what goes up must come down” one is hard to beat!

When we leave a friend’s house our 2 year old will say “Well THAT was really really nice” as if she was 65 and had just been to a national trust tearoom.
