Just Wondering - Have You Ever Met Anyone At A Wedding?

Just that really.

I've spent all my life single except for 1 relationship where we basically carried on our lives separately.

So I've always attended weddings alone. Often not knowing any people other than bride and groom!

I love getting dressed up, seeing the bride's dress, having a tipple and getting a nice slab of cake ngl.

But god I get so bored.

I've always worked in sales so I'm very good at chatting to people and I'm very friendly.

But I've found most other guests to be quite unresponsive.

I wonder, can they not really be bothered because they know we'll never meet again? Am I being delusional to have hope that in attending, I could potentially meet a new friend or even a future date?

I have yet another wedding coming up this summer. It's a 2 hour drive away and I just think... I really can't be bothered any more.

But maybe THIS one would be the one event where I connect with someone.

Unlikely though, right? Or...?

I know the point of a wedding is to celebrate others' love. But I'm kinda done celebrating other people. I've given enough, honestly. I think its time to start being more selfish in life.

....I do have a really gorgeous dress to wear, though.

I met my husband at a wedding. Two friends got together at our wedding.

How old are you? In my early 30s I snogged someone at a few weddings in a row but didn’t lead to relationships

I met my (now) hubby at friends wedding. He was best man, I was friend of bride. They are now divorced. 45 years later we are still together.

At my wedding we invited one of my university friends and one of my friends from work. They had met previously and we thought that my work friend’s brother would be a good match for my uni friend so we invited him too, and introduced them.
They’ve now been married for 20 years!
It makes me thrilled that my wedding could be a catalyst for love and a new family.

Years ago when single I met a man at my cousins wedding. He was a friend of her brothers. We had a great time at the wedding and dated for a while after, look back on it with fondness.

My friend met her husband of twenty years at a wedding. He was the best man.

Update.
I went.
It was great.
The dancefloor was a full-on rave. None of this "Stevie Wonder - Superstition" stuff you've danced to a million times before.
3 people asked for my number - 2 girls, 1 fella.
So it looks like I'm gonna have 1 date, and 1 friend-date out of it.
Also it was really nice to see my 2 friends so loved up, of course.
I was fully depleted for the 2 following days though. 🪫

My cousin had men buzzing around her like flies at a wedding and ended up having a fling with two of them (not at the same time!) And two of my uni friends were pursued like mad at my wedding. I've heard of people who met at weddings. I was chatted up at a wedding by someone I knew who I liked and would have dated. But he made it plain he was looking for a life partner. At the time I wasn't and he basically said he wouldn't waste time dating someone who didn't want to get married!

At my wedding 10 years ago we sat the solo guests and those that didn’t fit into any other group at a table for 10. I worried a bit as hardly any of them knew anyone else. But it turned out to be the best table plan ever, as they had a fantastic time together and are still all in touch with each other these many years later.
