I so agree with you!! It's a terrible song, so plainly written badly, in a huge hurry, and if it hadn't been for the charity aspect it would have sunk into the oblivion it deserves!

Sweet Caroline is another that has suffered from the over popularity thing that ruined Fairy Tale of New York. It was a great song back in the day but now its just fucking annoying.

Neil Diamond is a fantastic performer and song writer and as his closing anthem at concerts its a great song. But then it was adopted (and ruined with the "SO GOOD SO GOOD" bollocks) by footie fans and its been completely spoiled. My mother had/has such a thing about Neil Diamond and even she can't stand it now.

My personal hatred of this song comes from the fact that they are saying that its ok to be fat (which of course it is) but is so disparaging of being thin. "The anorexic chicks, the model six" is so derogatory and shaming. Its fucking awful.

I remember hearing it, for the first time after I got my official anorexia diagnosis in my 40's, and I had to pull over as I was crying so much from shame. I am now recovered (mainly) but I still wont have it on in my hearing.

And someone needs to tell Paul Heaton that acting like an angst ridden student when you are 60+ isnt edgy, its fucking sad.
