Husband insists moon landings were faked and 9/11 was a false flag secret operation the Americans did to themselves

AmberTigerEyes · 15/04/2026 21:18

I am désolé
My husband, he tell me he really believe there has never been a moon landing and that the 9/11 attacks were faked too.
I was in New York on 9/11
He knows this
He keeps saying things that have been disproven as conspiracy theory myths.
I wonder if I should be calling for a mental crisis unit.

I also think the latter could be true. Did you watch the Michael Moore movie about this?

I'm interested in this, what's the film called (please)

Here is Chat GPT's take on the moon landing conspiracies if you're interested:

You said:
Is there any evidence that the moon landing wasnt real

ChatGPT said:
Short answer: there’s no credible evidence that the Moon landing was faked, and a very large amount of independent evidence that it really happened.
The first landing—Apollo 11 Moon Landing—is one of the most documented events in history. Here’s why the “it was faked” idea doesn’t hold up:
1. Too many independent witnesses (including rivals)
The mission was tracked not just by NASA, but also by observatories and even the Soviet Union, via its space program Soviet space program.
The USSR had every incentive to expose a fake—but never did.
2. Physical evidence still on the Moon
Astronauts left retroreflectors (mirrors) on the surface. Scientists today still bounce lasers off them to measure the Earth–Moon distance.
Multiple later missions confirmed the landing sites.
3. Modern images of the landing sites
The NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has photographed the actual landing areas, showing tracks, equipment, and descent stages.
4. Moon rocks
382 kg of lunar samples were brought back.
These rocks have unique chemical signatures distinct from Earth rocks and have been studied worldwide—not just in the US.
5. The sheer scale of the “cover-up” problem
Around 400,000 people worked on the Apollo program.
Keeping a conspiracy that large secret for over 50 years is essentially impossible.
Why do people still doubt it?
Some common points get raised, but they all have straightforward explanations:
Flag “waving” → looks like motion because of how it was planted and no air resistance.
No stars in photos → camera exposure set for bright lunar surface, so faint stars don’t show.
Shadows look odd → due to uneven terrain and wide-angle lenses.
If you want, I can go through the most common conspiracy claims one by one and explain them in plain terms—it’s actually quite interesting how they get debunked.

Ok

ChatGPT said:
Great—let’s go through the most common “it was faked” claims and what’s actually going on.

  1. “The flag is waving—there’s no wind on the Moon”
What you’re seeing isn’t wind. The flag used by NASA had a horizontal rod to keep it spread out. When astronauts twisted the pole into the ground, the fabric moved and kept moving briefly because there’s no air resistance to damp it. On Earth, air quickly stops that motion. On the Moon, it lingers a bit—so it looks like waving.
  1. “There are no stars in the photos”
This one sounds convincing at first, but it’s just camera settings. The surface of the Moon is extremely bright in sunlight. Cameras during the Apollo 11 Moon Landing were set to expose for that brightness—like taking a photo of snow in daylight. Stars are much dimmer, so they simply don’t show up at that exposure. (If you took a daytime photo on Earth, you wouldn’t see stars either.)
  1. “Shadows go in different directions”
People expect all shadows to be perfectly parallel, but: The Moon’s surface is uneven Wide-angle lenses distort perspective Light reflects off the ground and the lunar module This can make shadows look like they’re pointing different ways—even though they’re all coming from the Sun.
  1. “The photos look too perfect—like a film set”
This often gets linked to Stanley Kubrick conspiracy theories. But: Astronauts took thousands of photos—most are not “perfect” You’re usually seeing the best ones selected afterward Recreating Moon gravity, lighting, and dust behaviour convincingly in 1969 would have been far harder than just going there
  1. “Why hasn’t anyone gone back recently?”
They actually did go back—multiple times: Apollo missions 11 through 17 landed astronauts on the Moon It stopped mainly because of: Cost Political priorities shifting after the Cold War space race Now, programs like Artemis program are aiming to return humans again.
  1. “Wouldn’t someone have exposed it by now?”
This is the biggest issue with the conspiracy idea. Hundreds of thousands of people worked on Apollo. Plus: Independent tracking by other countries Decades of scientific analysis of Moon rocks Modern spacecraft imaging the landing sites A fake would require a global, decades-long, perfectly silent conspiracy across rival nations—including the Soviet Union—which just doesn’t hold up.

I found that quite interesting and thought I am not a skeptic on the moon landings the last bit of "evidence" from your AI isn't logical. To actually do the landing would take hundreds or thousands of people. But to fake it would take far fewer. And just because there may be people who say "I designed the fluffle valve for the left thrust tickler" it doesn't mean that it was used.
I had better stop as I am aware I sound quite mad....

That ChatGPT from @Doggodoggo is compelling and intellectually I can see that it did happen as portrayed. My parents spoke of the excitement of that era and people following from all over the world. That can’t be faked no matter how cynically we look back.

But it still doesn’t explain how in an era before modern technology - the personal computer hadn’t been invented, the internet was a distant dream - NASA got to the moon and we can barely take off these days.

Intellectually I know it happened and I’ve even seen the launch area etc. but there’s a small part of me that makes me think - really?

I might have to take that approach. He has form for confidently speaking nonsense. Like he thinks male mosquitos bite, not females because he thinks they bite with their penis.

He is in good health, 60+ but I do wonder.

He thinks.... a mosquito bites with a penis that's sticking out of its face? And it sucks blood through its penis?
You say he's really an intelligent man but this is extremely stupid.

SassyButClassy · 16/04/2026 05:41

Lots of people believe celebrities when they say their boobs are real and they haven't had "any work" done.

I don't see the difference.

AmberTigerEyes · 15/04/2026 21:34

He does. That was his proof the moon landing wasn’t real. He said there are no stars in the footage. I said it was black and white footage and they were filmed during the moons day time, you don’t see stars in the day time. He looked at me like I was stupid.

There is actually a lot more than that to consider that doesn't make sense on that footage. And that's been going around for YEARS with all the reasons it wasn't real.

SparklyLeader · 16/04/2026 05:57

Ask him if he'd like to buy a bridge. Tell him he is what we call a stooge, someone who is so gullible, they will believe anything.

Plasticdreams · 16/04/2026 05:57

I’m very rational but even I am starting to think the moon landings weren’t real - especially after the recent mission. I also think 9/11 was most likely an inside job.
My change in thinking is down to the Trump administration, Israel and the extreme corruption now being exposed.

Problem with ‘conspiracy theorists’ is that’s the theories are so basic and repeated it’s hardly even a conspiracy anymore. So many people believe nonsense - my brother and his wife once told me that 5G was spreading covid and they’d done all their research (a few screenshots).

My main question is always and how does it impact you? So the moon landings were faked - what real life consequences does that have for that person? Normally they’re sub-par - so lower intellect, lower self esteem, lower social status etc, or isolated (seems your husband has retired to France and spends lots of time alone).

It’s so sad when the world is full of actual conspiracies and misinformation- these mega sleuths could go and do something productive with their insight! 🧐

You have to ask yourself:
Why?
Cui bono?
How much effort would they have to make, what would it cost, to do the thing and hide it effectively?
Would it be worth it to them?
Wider implications - more risk to them, or more gain?
......................................................

Israel doesn't need to hide its actions, it's proud of them.

The US government's done some disgustingly sneaky things (Tuskergee, Trinity & Nevada, more recent pollution scandals) but murdering 3,000 citizens on one day, in a dramatic event in Lower Manhattan and on worldwide TV, would be overkill as an excuse to escalate a war. They could just fucking go ahead and do it anyway, introduce their new controls & surveillance, without performing a deadly pantomime in their own front yard.

What do you mean “we can barely take off”??? We literally just did!

Money is a huge factor in the lack of space missions - and they’re really bloody dangerous. The two combined mean we’re not going to be launching rockets on a daily basis 😀

LeavingForUni · 16/04/2026 06:58

In all honesty I find the moon landing slightly suspicious not for the visual etc but for the lack of progress between then and now, I feel as if surely with the world the way it was then that the next step would have been travelling to the moon repeatedly then to Mars and yet everything stalled.

Twonewcats · 16/04/2026 06:58

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 15/04/2026 23:35

No, I don't understand that either. I think there's potential for insistent illogicality on both sides of the debate.

People who dismiss the theory that 9/11 was an inside job as obviously ridiculous, but then don't have any explanation about legitimate questions such as how a passport survived unscathed and identifiably in a fire that did immense damage to an aeroplane; why was the complete collapse of Building 7 reported by the official news channels when it could still be seen behind them standing before suddenly collapsing 20 minutes later; how was the Patriot Act all ready to go in just six weeks - and not even just any six weeks, but six weeks after all of that had just happened? Also the reports that the Bushes and Bin Laden's close family members had met socially shortly before the event; and the claimed testimonies from very experienced military pilots that they couldn't have flown into the buildings with such accuracy etc.

As PP said, whether or not you accept the veracity and evidence or not of these questions/conclusions of something afoot is one thing; but just instantly huffing and harumphing that it's so clearly all ridiculous, and that anybody asking these questions must be mentally ill, doesn't necessarily put you in a great intellectual light either.

On the other side, the people who doggedly insist that Finland doesn't exist; birds are actually robots that recharge by sitting on telegraph lines; the royal family are actually, physically reptiles and not human at all - because they read it online and so it must be true... These can all be very easily gainsaid with very simple logic, and none of the claimed 'evidence' can be objectively said to merit any serious consideration.

Oddly enough, even the most staunch automatic deniers of all conspiracies in the west never seem to have much difficulty in assuming the exact opposite when it comes to allegations of what the governments of Russia, Iran, North Korea and China have been up to. Unless you genuinely believe that all/certain governments would never, ever lie to their people about anything, it does seem to me to represent a bright, open mind if you critically examine the evidence and the merits of the suggestion. Insisting that it MUST be true, or similarly that it CANNOT be true, without any consideration at all of serious, at least possible objections or questions just seems rather intellectually dishonest to me.

Could you pls post the footage of building 7 with the reporter in front? And with regards to the passport, you regularly see debris from a plane crash that includes a shoe , a handbag etc. That just means it was blown out and away rather than burnt upon impact

The Soviet Union Politburo and scientists all upholding the fakery too.......amazing........for all these decades.

What wouldn't Putin give to reveal the USA faked it all?

I wonder why he doesn't? 🙄

WildDenimDuck · 16/04/2026 07:03

The moon landing thing is pretty common - faking it is exactly sort of thing America would do. I’d say the majority of people think it’s at least a possibility it’s fake.
9/11?I’ve heard about some IRL thinking it was an inside job, not that it never happened. The second is worrying and I’m assuming a flat earthed too? I don’t know how common thinking it was an inside job is. But probably wearing more of a tin foil hat on that one over the moon landing.

The Anerican government has done all sorts of mad unethical things - especially during the cold war. Nothing would surprise me.

Bluegreenbird · 16/04/2026 07:06

I have a conspiracy theory that all religions were made up by men. That burning bushes and angels giving messages and flying camels weren’t real.

Given how popular religion still is, it shows that people believe what it suits them to believe. It’s real in their heads and gives them comfort. I find it weirder that so many people still believe their holy books than that some are sceptical about big political events.

Religious people don’t care what I think and conspiracy theorists don’t care that you have facts you want to argue with. They think they’re right and prefer that position. And we don’t even argue with religious people because it’s considered rude.

bunnyvsmonkey · 16/04/2026 07:08

I think if the Epstein files have taught us anything it's that powerful men are so concerned about their penises they probably don't have time or the brains to orchestrate these conspiracies.

I could see a woman faking the moon landing but they wouldn't have left doubt.
