Has anybody had covid in the last couple of weeks?

And if so, what were your symptoms? Thanks

My daughter poorly at the moment but we wouldn’t know. Haven’t tested for years.

Brewtiful · 02/04/2026 07:57

Is anyone actually still testing? How would you actually know?

SillyBilly123456 · 02/04/2026 08:00

I’m pretty sure I had a couple weeks ago. Didn’t start off like it had before - I was literally just extremely wheezy (I have mild asthma) 24/7. After about 4 days I started with some pretty violent coughing, I couldn’t lie down even a little bit as I would start coughing. Terrible headaches all day long. Then in the last couple of days I lost my taste and smell which is when I thought it had probably been covid.

Yes, people do still test. I have a very weak immune system and thankfully people have enough respect for my health to test if they are unsure.

A friend had Covid recently, she said it was like a fluey cold. She tested because she visits her 96 year old mother in a care home.

PearlWisher · 02/04/2026 08:10

Yes seems likely

Little bit under the weather for 3 days or so.

Woke to a coughing fit this morning.

Hmmm.

Surely if people were unwell with cold/flu/COVID symptoms they just wouldn't visit elderly or immune compromised friends and family though? Knowing it's COVID wouldn't mean they could visit so testing seems a bit redundant?

I don’t mean to be goady when I ask this - but if she had tested negative for covid, would she still visit (even though she knew she had a fluey cold). Surely if you are ill, you don’t visit a vulnerable person - therefore testing is irrelevant?

Squirrelandhedgehog · 02/04/2026 08:27

I had it starting 3 weeks ago for 2 weeks. I knew as I had the COVID rash all over my stomach and got the anti virals. Had aching shoulders and back, shivery, very bad stomach for week and half, changed sense of taste, breathless, slight cough, trouble swallowing at one point. Not had any illnesses since 2022 so seemed to catch up. Now completely better and have been for a week.

PuttingOutFirewithGasoline · 02/04/2026 08:30

I like to know what's wrong with me so I still test I would test for everything if I could

ForgottenPasswordNewAccount · 02/04/2026 08:30

Corona virus has existed forever - way before tests existed.

If you are sick dont visit people. Pointless testing

Realistically though - if you have a very weak immune system - what difference does them testing make?! You’re going to want to avoid their germs regardless of what they are.

What? even if its not covid and she has the bog standard flu why on earth would she be visiting elderly and health compromised people with that?

Flu can kill people you know

What an odd post. There is no need to test- it's bloody selfish to be visiting anyone who is immunocompromised if you have a cold, flu, OR covid. Stay away.

everardshutthatdoor · 09/04/2026 22:38

I think I might have COVID, my main symptom is a really, really sore throat, like razor blades, along with cold and cough symptoms. I contacted my GP practice and was referred to the pharmacist who decided it wasn’t tonsillitis and so they couldn’t offer treatment. No-one suggested Covid.

However I did a quick google and these seem like symptoms of the new Cicada variant. I’ll test tomorrow for my own information. I hope it’s not as DH will really suffer if he gets it but it doesn’t feel like a normal cold at all.

LethargeMarg · 09/04/2026 23:01

Friend had it first week of Easter holidays . Tested as was so ill wanted to know what it was and lost taste and smell (still gone)

Pieceofpurplesky · 10/04/2026 00:31

We are asked to test if we feel ill
before visiting DP's care home. I guess it jus gives them a layer of information

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/04/2026 00:37

Something is spreading through work like wildfire at the moment and I was thinking the other day there seems to be a lot of ambulances about so I’m guessing Covid is about and on the up.

General resp symptoms and a really sore throat seems to be what I’ve heard people complain about.

Newmeagain · 10/04/2026 00:57

Interesting. I am just recovering from what I thought was a common cold but I did have some weird symptoms - really sore throat for around 24 hours and also this strange stabbing/burning pain in one spot in my lower back.

patooties · 10/04/2026 01:20

I had it twice end of last year. Fever, no taste, exhaustion and aching like you wouldn’t believe- cried before going back to work in January as I was sleeping 16 hours a day(broken by fever) and didn’t know how I would be able to function when I went back. We hid away as I wouldn’t want to pass it to anyone let alone friends and family.

JustAnotherWhinger · 10/04/2026 01:26

Yes it’s doing the rounds here.

We test because DD gets antivirals if she tests positive, but it’s incredibly difficult to test her due to her lack of understanding.

Symptoms here were slightly achey, upset stomach and a weird feeling of having a combo of a stomach bug and flu, but not debilitatingly so. Unhelpful I know, but weird is the only way I could describe it. It felt like you’d feel absolutely floored any moment but it stayed like that.

Was thankfully relatively mild as DD ended up with slightly higher oxygen flow to normal, but didn’t end up in hospital this time.

trainedopossum · 10/04/2026 03:38

DH and I had a bug about a month ago, started with fever/chills and some foods didn’t taste right to me. Main symptoms were diarrhoea and fatigue which carried on for weeks for me, though DH bounced back quickly.
I posted about it here and people suggested covid. I did test as I had already visited my elderly mother (thinking I’d recovered from a stomach bug) and if I’d exposed her to covid she could’ve done something about it. Tested negative for flu and covid by then but apparently new versions aren’t showing up on tests?

Walkden · 10/04/2026 03:56

Yes in mid February. Runny nose and strange pain behind an eye. Realised it must have been COVID as completely lost all sense of taste and smell which has still not returned .

Only ever happened in my first COVID infection. ( But not the 4 infections since)

Topseyt123 · 10/04/2026 04:12

I've not tested for years and don't intend to restart with that.

If I am ill I stay at home and generally don't go out associating with people. If I am not ill then I go out and about if I want to. That's how it has always been.

Same here. Stabbing pain in back. I think I have covid. I don't generally get colds and this just feels different to a cold. The first morning I woke up feeling ill, had to use the downstairs toilet as dh was using upstairs bathroom. I felt terribly breathless just climbing the stairs. I work with older people and have had to cancel all visits obviously. may do a test today.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 10/04/2026 08:01

I don’t think so. But felt a bit funny past few days and nausea when out. Got a test somewhere but do we test now?
