Is there anything worth making a trip to Asda for?

Not got one locally but have to run and annoying errand tomorrow which will take me right past one

A few years ago I would shop in Asda fairly regularly. Good value, pleasant staff and good layout.

Now I can’t abide the shop. It’s scruffy, the staff are not as helpful and the prices are not as good. I now do most of my shopping in Aldi; good prices, easy layout and very helpful staff.

i went into Asda a couple of days ago for a top up shop and it immediately made me feel irritated.

This is a helpful thread - thank you. I’ve just been sent a ‘we missed you’ £20 voucher from Asda (I changed to another supermarket last year). I can only use it on Groceries online, so keen for any more suggestions.

The loyalty app is now rubbish.
When it was first released I accumulated £120 in a year just by completing my weekly food shops.
I think it was £20 last year. Apparently, Asda have new owners who don’t prioritise the loyalty element. Wrong move imo.

I agree that the Rewards app is hit and miss. I earned £15 off my shopping for completing a mission but other times, it doesn't appear to work.

I hate going in there at peak times so use click and collect. Today it's being delivered as they gave me a delivery voucher. I popped into Waitrose yesterday and it was a very pleasant experience!

The cherry bakewell hot cross buns are lovely and they have some nice items in their exceptional range.

Just giving this thread a bump in case there are any more suggestions before I finish my online order this evening. (Hope you don’t mind me jumping on your thread @onflic?)

I think the OP is looking for any suggestions (including clothes, home, etc.) but I’m just looking for suggestions I can get delivered from the ‘Groceries’ part of Asda.

I'm not a fan of Asda, the fruit and veg is really expensive for what you get and compared to other supermarkets and their bakery isn't great. Not impressed with their own brand stuff either. However the are usually huge and well stocked, I only use them in a pinch.

Their 'Exceptional British Potatoes' are delicious - made some really tasty mashed potatoes with them the other day.

The fresh fennel is cheap and good quality.

They stock Tim's yogurt at my local one which is on offer at the moment - the vanilla flavour is the best vanilla yogurt I have ever tasted.

Trying to think of more stuff but really there are some gems to find - it's just a matter of searching for them!

They have had some very nicely priced fruit trees in stock over the last couple.of weeks.

Only 7.27 for a cherry or plum tree.

As others have said, the World Food aisles are excellent. I go periodically to stock up on dried pulses, big jars of tahini, etc.

Their grapes. Clementine and strawberries are always sweet and tasty.

For the clems and grapes I find you have to leave them at least 2 weeks before eating.

I find the Asda nappies superior to other supermarket. Kendamil is also 2 pence cheaper. The foods not great. So unless you have a baby, then no

GrueyTwoey · 31/03/2026 12:54

Their fancy curry range is excellent, I hope particularly for all of the dishes.

I rarely visit one and wouldn’t do a food shop there, although the frozen skin-on fries were good and very cheap.

The homeware is worth a look. Scoville pans are often on offer, their rectangular glass storage tubs are excellent, and I like their t-shirts and vests for keeping their shape and colour better than any other supermarket versions.
