Asda is expensive now but I go for the gluten free range.

I keep misreading your title as ‘Is there anything worth making a trip to Alaska for?’

mumofoneAloneandwell · 28/03/2026 00:17

Check out the bakery and meat reduced sections - they're the best of any supermarket

Also pick up some Kingsmill bread which I can't find anywhere but sainsburys and asda for some reason

I love going to a big asda 😫😫😫

The do a great French Malbec - it has a coat of arms on the front and the words 'fruits of the forest' on the blurb at the back - for around just £5.50.

I love their sourdough and huge bags of peppers, also the nuts, Brazil nuts and walnuts are fresher than most.

LadyGAgain · 28/03/2026 00:22

Their cards (birthday and the like) are great value and a lot better than card factory. 3 for the price of 2!

horsemadgal · 28/03/2026 00:39

I like their coconut porridge sachets.

Maverickess · 28/03/2026 01:39

I'm having a bit of a run on their sausages, the 2 for £5 ones in different flavours, 6 in each pack and they don't shrink away to nothing in the air fryer at least, and all the flavours/types I've tried have been lovely too, especially the bacon & maple syrup, in fact the only one I haven't tried is the chilli one and that's because I don't like chilli!

Toilet paper, guinea pig food, tissue paper, wooden spoons, screen wash, mascara, farleys rusks (I love them!), hand towels, herbs, stationery., coronation chicken.

I only like Tiptree tomato ketchup and can only ever find it in Asda, so I stock up when I happen to visit the one near us (that isn't really that near as we visit maybe twice a year iyswim).

Rubbleonthedouble2 · 28/03/2026 03:51

Their own brand instant porridge comes in a coconut flavour! I like to mix one sachet with one scoop of rolled oats. Yummy.

Apple cinnamon hot cross buns oh and the15% staff discount.😁

Have you tried M&S own brand ketchup? It is delicious, has a low number of ingredients and has the same less-than-smooth texture as the Tiptree one. It's also surprisingly cheap.

OP, I'm not keen on much Asda own brand food, but their World Food sections at the bigger branches are great. There is a huge regular aisle and a decent-sized freezer section at our nearest 'big' Asda.

Girasoli · 28/03/2026 07:39

If you like baking my local Asda had the biggest baking section of any of my local supermarkets (e.g. different types of icing, cupcake cases, flour etc).

They also do nice jeans (true to size, have lasted a while).

JacknDiane · 28/03/2026 07:56

The hone bit usually has a sale on decent pots and pans

Englishonly · 28/03/2026 08:26

Big bunches of coriander and flat leaf parsley.

user2848502016 · 28/03/2026 08:31

Clothes and home stuff are worth a look if you need anything.
Food is ok but nothing special.
I do like their own brand cereal though and their freshly made pizza counter

Zippidydoodah · 28/03/2026 08:33

I got some decent bath towels there recently, for ridiculously low prices.

Sarahpainting · 28/03/2026 08:37

Their Extra special sausages and bacon are good, two for a fiver.

Moltencheese · 28/03/2026 08:40

Birthday cards are cheap
they do a good crème brûlée in the freezer deserts section (extra special range or whatever they call it)

Beautifulscribbles · 28/03/2026 08:40

The roll back deals are great. They have my favourite coffee there (TrueStart). I got some nice clothes from George last week.

OvernightBloats · 28/03/2026 08:43

Kitchen section and bedding is worth a look - I have had some good buys from both.

George clothes - especially knickers, thermal vests, T-shirts, fitness clothes, nighties

Sourdough bread, Greek yogurt, World Food sections are huge, wine, Little Angels baby toiletries are good for sensitive skin, extra special pickled cabbage (bought when reduced and it is the best!).

On the whole, Asda are starting to be really competitive again with prices. It is a search to find the bargains but worth it - eg. a box of L'or coffee pods (40 in box) is £9 but £10 elsewhere.

Are you talking food wise or in general? I’ve been really impressed by their clothing offerings recently, and I am also usually tempted by their make-your-own pizza

Absolutely not

RipplePlease · 28/03/2026 08:48

Yes, a huge side of salmon for £9.
I’ve bought 3 for Easter Sunday dinner.

Legs of lamb £7 per kilo
