Hand luggage only: favourite bags that fit EasyJet and Ryanair sizers

We’ve got a few weekends away coming up, using both EasyJet and Ryanair, and I’m forcing myself to stick to hand luggage only.
I’m looking for recommendations of bags you own and love that fit in the bigger hand luggage sizers.

I bought this one recently for a work trip, it fits the under seat size for EasyJet.

I did two nights but I could’ve managed three plus it fit my laptop in easily.

Look at John Lewis Vienna 37cm under seat bag with wheels and pull out handle. We were fortunate to get a couple half price recently. It is really well made and lots of compartments. Suited to EasyJet though not Ryanair.

Cabin Max Anode 24l on Amazon £39.95 for the twin wheel as gives a bit more space inside than the 4 wheel. I used it on easyJet within UK and then friend borrowed it to take it to EU somewhere with easyJet. Fitted brilliantly..

@Losted I will help you out as someone also helped me out with long links. The /ref part and anything after is not needed so you can just reduce it to this. Great product by the way.

@NorthFaceofthelaundrypile try Kipling.
I have 2 cabin cases, 1 is exactly for Ryanair and 1 is exactly for Easyjet, so you can get the size you need!
And the wheels and zips are good.

goingtotown · 22/03/2026 08:45

Remember to leave space in the luggage for any purchases you buy for the return journey.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 22/03/2026 08:51

We always take hand luggage only.
we walk a lot so I often pack older trainers which I then leave there to make room for purchases.
same with old beach towels if needed.
and old husband .

I’ve been using one for my past couple RyanAir trips and it’s perfect! It’s RyanAir size and even when they were measuring everyone’s bag last time I was fine! It does expand so you can be a bit flexible with how much you pack - just be careful not to overpack! Such a good value bag, I use it every time now!

I’ve used this one for every trip I’ve done for years, even 2 week holidays- I love that it can be wheeled or backpack. This is the right size for EasyJet or BA hand luggage but they also do a smaller one that’s Ryanair/Wizzair size

Metz 30L Hybrid - 45x36x20cm

Metz 30L hybrid backpack trolley fits EasyJet’s 45x36x20 cm rules. Spacious, lightweight, and durable with padded straps, wheels, and organizer pockets.

I have a rectangular backpack (rectangular means I can get more in it) from Amazon which fits the Ryanair rules (20x30x40 IIRC). It’s good because you can use it as a backpack while you are away (it looks OK) but bc it is squared off it fits more than an ordinary backpack. It has lots of outside pockets which you can zip tight. You could also use packing cubes tho I never have.

Cannot find the link but there must be loads. It was pretty cheap for sure.

Last time I flew with Ryanair I was away for three nights (it was summer) and easily fitted in:
1 pair pjs
1 dress, 1 top
1 pair flipflops (essential IMO)
toiletries – tiny ones
chargers, phones, cables
Passport, purse, contact lenses
underwear and socks
Small handbag for use while there
A book

Wore light trousers and top with nice trainers and cardi

ETA: Just read the thread properly @NorthFaceofthelaundrypile are you planning on taking two bags? That won't work on Ryanair. If you pay extra you get one bigger bag IIRC. But I am tight so no probs fitting three nights into the free bag tbh.

My DD had this one. I bought a different one & returned it & ordered this instead. We took them as our only bag to Prague for 3 nights. I am bad for taking too many clothes so I had to be strict. I have used for weekends away in UK & as hand luggage for other trips ( where I’ve had hold luggage). It’s lasting well, still in good condition, all zips etc are fine. It’s also on offer & cheaper than the £20 I paid 3 years ago.

@clary - yes, to taking two bags. One for under the seat and one in the overhead. It’s included in the priority allowance.

I've just bought 2x generic easyJet sized 46x35x20 for £20ish from Amazon and they both seem fine. One has more complicated zips but expands to deeper than 20cm which is useful. If you spend double that you can get ones with a vacuum section.

I figured I would start cheap and upgrade if needed, but we will keep these and buy 2 more the same for the rest of the family. They seem solid. The only thing I think they are lacking is a waist strap.

I think it's definitely worth getting an easyJet one and not making do with the Ryanair one for both, as the volume difference is substantial.

Overthemoun · 22/03/2026 22:25

One of these underseat - take the wheels off and pop them in your pocket.

Ok yes apologies. Is that the same for EasyJet? You can easily get what you need for three nights into the free allowance tho.

Bringflowersofthefairest · 23/03/2026 08:14

Also, you can get those neck cushions with strap that open with a zip so you can fill it with extra clothes. Double use.

albalass · 23/03/2026 10:25

I have a couple of cabin max rucksacks (from Amazon) in different sizes. Used them many times and they are still going strong.

AnneShirleyBlythe · 23/03/2026 12:42

Do the vacuum bags make your clothes really creased?

angelcake20 · 23/03/2026 13:03

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 21/03/2026 09:52

Three nights… This is for the overhead sized bag. Though I’m sure some people would manage it in one of the under-seat bags, I am just not that effiecient!

I’ve done 5 or 6 days away with an underseat Ryanair bag several times. I just searched for a Ryanair bag on Amazon and loved it so much that everyone in the family has one and so do friends that I’ve travelled with!

I didn't find that. I laid everything flat and then folded and rolled it. Didn't need to iron anything but I never iron anything anyway

CointreauVersial · 23/03/2026 13:20

Bookmarking this thread, as I need to get kitted up for a Ryanair flight in a few week's time.

I am quite tempted by the Primark range of mini cases with removeable wheels, all in line with the various airline restrictions. You pop the wheels off to fit the case into the luggage sizers.

ByZingyMauveReader · 23/03/2026 15:10

Ryanair are ridiculous. They will try to charge you for anything. I was on a trip a few years ago when the ground hostess tried to take the wheels off my suitcase. She started a row with quite a few people in the queue. They seem to pick and choose what is ok according to where you are. I've seen huge bags be allowed through and then smaller ones be stopped and charged. Give them nothing. NOTHING!

Janey90 · 23/03/2026 15:30

I think the Ryanair measurements are just a few cm smaller than everyone elses?

Nooooo A LOT smaller. You'd be safer just putting your things inside a teabag.
