The £30 Aldi stand mixer

saraclara · 16/03/2026 16:31

It's coming back into the stores on Thursday.
Has anyone got one? Is it any good? I don't do a lot of baking, but there've been several occasions where I've wished I had a proper mixer. I neither have the budget or the commitment to spend vast amounts on one with great reviews, though.
On the other hand I don't want to chuck £30 down the drain if it's rubbish.

I don’t know but I’m following with interest! The pink has sorely tempted me!

It comes in yellow, too! But I imagine it'll be down to what stock my smallish store gets in.

We have a mixer from Aldi although it’s an older model and was more expensive (maybe £40)

It’s fine, does what we need it to do and we’ve had it at least 2yrs with no issues. I’m not much of a baker so it’s my DH who mainly uses it and he thinks it’s great.

No way we would spend more on an expensive version as we don’t use it enough. Ours doesn’t have the handle though, which would be handy to have.

likelysuspect · 16/03/2026 16:39

Ive got a Kenwood cheapy, which wasnt that cheap that £180 I think at the time, they often do offers

But one thing I do regret is not having one where the bowl has a handle.

Mine isnt that strong, its only a lightweight one probably like the Aldi one would be but I love it for mixing butter into flour, mixing eggs etc.

Samewrinklesnewname · 16/03/2026 16:42

My only concern would be the power of the motor, which isn’t stated, but any appliances I’ve bought from Aldi Are all lasting well, so for general family type baking it would probably be fine.
Ive had a Kenwood K mix for about 10 years and it’s great but gets a LOT of use

saraclara · 16/03/2026 16:51

I'm unlikely to make anything like bread, so hopefully the power would be enough for me. I basically just want one for creaming and whisking when I suddenly get an urge to bake. Or at Christmas when I tend to batch make cookie/shortbread dough to freeze.

Someone lent me a Kenwood K mix once, and it was great. But I really can't justify buying one.

Oh interesting. I have an ancient magimix that I use for all my cake mixing. A few years ago I bought a very fancy kenwood in the Black Friday sale. I only used it a couple of times as it was such a faff to set up. I sold it on EBay.

The Aldi one may be easier to use.

SimoneChouxssoff · 16/03/2026 17:27

I bought that for £40!

I use it to make bread. It’s brilliant. My vair vair vair expensive artisan food mixture packed up after 14 years and the diagnostic charge was £80 alone so I bought the Aldi one and have never regretted it. I only used the three hooks anyway and none of the fancy attachments and the Aldi one grips to the counter better too.

Buy and enjoy.

AliasGrape · 16/03/2026 17:35

I got it last time it was in, towards the end of last year. Am sure it was £40 then but might be remembering wrong.

It’s fine - noisy! But does the job. I’ve used it for cake mixture, cookies and biscotti, not attempted bread or anything in it yet.

They only had the grey/ off white colour in which I was disappointed with but not enough to pay more for more expensive one in a pretty colour 🙂

MissyB1 · 16/03/2026 17:37

Oooh thanks for this thread OP, I’ve been wanting a mixer for ages, but like you I can’t justify spending £££ so the Aldi one will do nicely.

likelysuspect · 16/03/2026 17:43

The thing I would say, which is what I found with my Kenwood but would apply to most mixers, is that its helpful to have a spare bowl for recipes where you need egg whites and then egg yolks or something else for example and want to keep the whites separate before mixing in to the other bowl

TLDR - see if you can get a spare bowl

Pernicketywishes · 16/03/2026 17:48

I have one, I absolutely love it. It’s a duck egg colour but the one on the link doesn’t look exactly the same as mine.

It’s been brilliant, I’ve made loads of cakes and meringues in it. I made my daughter’s wedding cake with it actually. It’s definitely worth the money.

saraclara · 16/03/2026 22:40

I'm slightly concerned that the latest one is 25% cheaper, and doesn't look quite the same as a pp's version. I hope they haven't cut some corners on the latest model.

I got the green one a few years ago, looks a bit sturdier than this one although hard to tell from a picture.
I'm not a big baker but it works really well for what I need. No complaints at all.

Ownedbyabeagle · 17/03/2026 07:15

This is my one

I’ve got it from a few years ago. I don’t use it loads, but works fine when I do make cakes etc.

Shedmistress · 17/03/2026 07:28

I have a Lidl one and really wish it had a handle.

I use it to make bread 3 ish times a week.

That definitely looks prettier and sturdier than mine, which is the same as OP’s link I think. The button on the side is definitely different.

Mine might have been the same price, I just have a terrible memory these days. It really does work fine for most things OP so don’t be put off!

I got one last year, I'm sure it was £40.
I ended up taking it back, having not used it, for a number of reasons.

  • it was going to be stored in a cupboard & taken out for use, the suction cups made this a real pain and difficult to move.
  • it took up a lot more room than my electric hand mixer does.
  • you are limited to the stand and bowl that comes with it, with the hand mixer I can use any bowl or pot or jug and move the beaters as needed in the bowl.

My hand mixer does actually have a small stand & bowl so if I want to leave something to mix for a few minutes I can.

DP has recently moved in and his 1950s Kenwood mixer (was his grandma's) came with him. It is also stored in a cupboard and I got it out for the first time at the weekend. It is SO HEAVY, the bowl as well as the stand. I'll be sticking to my hand mixer. Unfortunately the Kenwood will remain, unused & taking up cupboard space, as DP values the connection to his grandma.

Edited

I had to clear my kitchen worktops and dump stuff so that I had enough room to justify keeping my mixer and my food processor on the top, I cannot be doing with heaving them in and out of cupboards, they just wouldnt get used I know it.

Thats why I got this Kenwood Go, its apparently very tiny.

Chasingsquirrels · 17/03/2026 19:36

My food processor lives on the counter in the corner, but takes up far less room. Due to the size of the mixer and the lifting arm I would have still needed to pull it out from the back if I stored it on the counter and the suction cups hindered that.

I'd been looking at them yearning for a few years and though "just but one, it is only £40". So I was a bit peeved it wasn't practical. Using DPs Kenwood last weekend took away any remaining desire for a big stand mixer though, it was such a faff. I ended up getting my hand mixer out to do the buttercream.

NoYourNameChanged · 19/03/2026 15:00

Managed to stop myself buying both green and pink of, well, everything, and once I saw the stand mixer, I liked the yellow more than the pink! There is also a three year warranty on the mixer apparently, so that’s cool

You might get frustrated by the low power (the box in the photo says 420W) but I would guess you could probably get something back for it reselling it. Just having your hands free does speed up baking a lot and makes it easier to commit to on a random day.

saraclara · 19/03/2026 15:58

I got my local Aldi today and they were already sold out! 😭
