The £30 Aldi stand mixer

It's coming back into the stores on Thursday.
Has anyone got one? Is it any good? I don't do a lot of baking, but there've been several occasions where I've wished I had a proper mixer. I neither have the budget or the commitment to spend vast amounts on one with great reviews, though.
On the other hand I don't want to chuck £30 down the drain if it's rubbish.

I got my local Aldi today and they were already sold out! 😭

Nooo 😭

Im not really that bothered about the wattage tbh, may not be the most powerful thing in the world but I’m very much just a hobby baker so it doesn’t make much odds to me! For £30, I figure I can’t go very wrong

Got one! (Because I know you all care 🤣)

Had to do an hour's return journey, but the bigger store I went to still had six of them, so I even got to choose my colour!

And yep, I'm not too worried about the low power drawbacks etc. It's not going to get a whole lot of use or have to do any doughy heavy lifting. Just a 'nice to have' on the occasions when I need to do batches of shortbread/cookies etc.

Yay! What colour did you go for?
I went back again today to add to my collection of tins, trays and cake storage 😂

I got the yellow one. I almost went for the pink, because my little granddaughter is a big fan of pink, and she likes baking with me. But I think that I can convince her that custard yellow is fun!

Oh, and I got the pink loaf cake container, as it's so difficult to find anything to store a loaf cake in

I got one last year, I'm sure it was £40.
I ended up taking it back, having not used it, for a number of reasons.

  • it was going to be stored in a cupboard & taken out for use, the suction cups made this a real pain and difficult to move.
  • it took up a lot more room than my electric hand mixer does.
  • you are limited to the stand and bowl that comes with it, with the hand mixer I can use any bowl or pot or jug and move the beaters as needed in the bowl.

My hand mixer does actually have a small stand & bowl so if I want to leave something to mix for a few minutes I can.

DP has recently moved in and his 1950s Kenwood mixer (was his grandma's) came with him. It is also stored in a cupboard and I got it out for the first time at the weekend. It is SO HEAVY, the bowl as well as the stand. I'll be sticking to my hand mixer. Unfortunately the Kenwood will remain, unused & taking up cupboard space, as DP values the connection to his grandma.

Edited

Oh my, this is what I’d do! I’d be influenced to buy it-it’s so pretty-then it never come out of the cupboard. I bought a mixer jug thing last year and have hauled it out once to make soup. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Bought this one from Aldi about 4 or 5 years ago. Daughter loves baking and uses it regularly. Cost about £35 I think

I bought one once but do lots of baking, it looked lovely but did not mix properly at all. My kitchen aid is so much better. I was gutted as it looked great but took to charity shop.

Yep. I'm not expecting much of it really. I won't be using it a lot, so if after a year, it's either not good enough, or I simply don't use it, I'll just stick it on a local selling site. But because I don't bake all that much, I can't justify spending more, let alone Kitchen Aid money.
