What colour are your teeth?

Mine are quite yellow, which I think is fairly normal for the UK.

I never really gave it much thought until a recent visit to a new dentist who was trying to flog teeth whiteners costing several hundred pounds!

I’m mid sixties and can’t see the point. However it has made me a bit self conscious and more aware of how they look.

I’m pretty sure they’re natural and I know it’s nothing to do with my oral hygiene. I’m always very meticulous about this.

So please tell me what colour yours are?

I started a thread not long ago about the very fact that now I'm in my early 70s my teeth have started to realign themselves and are now starting to look yellowish

I hadn't realised this change in teeth was yet another part of the natural ageing process and tbh it's quite depressing for me. Like you OP I've always had really good dental hygiene and until recently my teeth were quite even and relatively white.

I'm going to speak to my dentist about what my options are but I don't want to spend a lot of money or go through a lot of possibly painful treatment

weaselwords · 05/03/2026 16:01

I’m half way through Invisalign treatment and will have them whitened when it’s done as mine are tea-coloured.

Ellanory · 05/03/2026 16:06

I've just finished invisalign treatment and had them whitened at the end. They're pretty white but (I think) quite natural-looking.

Mine have a yellow tinge but using an electric toothbrush (recent purchase) is definitely helping. I’ve tried all the over the counter teeth whitening stuff and none of it has made a difference.

RubyFatball · 05/03/2026 16:53

Tooth coloured and clean. I really dislike the white veneers look.

Augarden · 05/03/2026 16:58

Kinda yellow tbh, I don't terribly mind but if there was a treatment that would definitely work and wasn't too dear I'd consider it. I don't know much about what's available but I'm getting advertised some powder on Facebook which I'm fairly certain would do f all.

Goinggonegone · 05/03/2026 16:59

Yellowish. Natural part of aging.

InABalletBubble · 05/03/2026 17:09

I had to have a crown about 5 years ago and was told to have it in shade B2 to match my teeth. Reasonably white but not bright white. I think a lot is down to genetics but it’s normal for teeth to be less white as we age. I’d never whiten them as I know someone who does it and she has really sensitive teeth now.

ainsleysanob · 05/03/2026 17:15

I have quite white teeth. Teeth are one of the first things I notice about people. I have them whitened and use whitening toothpaste. Not ‘turkey’ white akin to LED headlights but they’re white.

NoYourNameChanged · 05/03/2026 17:18

Pretty white, I’m quite pleased with them really but then, I’m 32 so plenty of time for them to yellow over time I guess. I don’t know if they will though, my mums teeth are still gorgeous and white and she’s 62. Maybe it’s genetic?

AFieldOfStars · 05/03/2026 17:19

As I understand it, the slight yellowing of teeth over time is partly due to the white enamel coating gradually wearing and becoming thinner and more translucent, allowing the yellowish colour of the dentine underneath to show through. I don't think tea, coffe and red wine help either.

Anyway: mine are slightly yellow. I don't really mind.

Deadringer · 05/03/2026 17:19

I always wanted to get my teeth whitened and treated myself to it when I turned 60. They were yellowish, not bad for my age but I am delighted I got them done, they are not Hollywood white or anything they just look nice and clean. I top them up every 6 months or so.

Spaghettion · 05/03/2026 17:21

White, I’ve never had anything other than hygienist appointments done to them. The back ones are awful, missing loads and fillings in the others, I’m 43.

JustGiveMeReason · 05/03/2026 17:23

Normal, yellowy-white, tooth colour.

Of course, the more people that pay to paint their teeth a £bright white", the yellower normal teeth coloured teeth will look.

SheWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 05/03/2026 17:25

Horribly yellow, but I am getting braces tomorrow as they are also horribly crooked and I am having them whitened once they are straight. I am so happy that I can finally afford it and excited to not be embarrassed to smile 😀

blankcanvas3 · 05/03/2026 17:27

White because I get them whitened, but not Turkey Teeth White, just a natural white! Off white, I suppose?

Cetera · 05/03/2026 17:28

How much is it for whitening at the dentist these days?

Thecows · 05/03/2026 17:32

My teeth were always lovely but not so much now in my late 50's so having professional treatment to have them straightened and whitened. Yellow, crooked teeth just depress me (mine not anyone else's)

catlife7 · 05/03/2026 17:33

Not white but not dark yellow

What colour are your teeth?
dizzydizzydizzy · 05/03/2026 17:35

My teeth have become much whiter since using an electric toothbrush.

Moen · 05/03/2026 17:35

I’ve been using those gleam strips for the past two weeks and they are definitely a few shades white than they were!

VoltaireMittyDream · 05/03/2026 17:37

I like to think of mine as pale ecru

GoldenCupsatHarvestTime · 05/03/2026 17:39

B2. The shade I asked for when my dentist did them. It’s a shade or so down from Hollywood white so they look like very white, natural teeth (I hope).

Hereforthecommentz · 05/03/2026 17:42

Use arm and hammer bi carb toothpaste. I had yellow teeth when I was in early 20s. I was paranoid so got them whitened years ago. I have done two top up whitening at home, the tube cost about £30 but not topped up for about 5 years. I drink tea through a straw, it does stain teeth and mine seem to stain easily. My teeth are white ish, I always think they aren't but in photos they do look white. If mine started to go yellow I'd get them whitened, not veneers they look terrible! If your 60+ and your not bothered I really wouldn't bother to be honest. The dentist told me at the time teeth aren't meant to be bright white it doesn't mean they aren't healthy.

ThirdStorm · 05/03/2026 17:52

Mine are yellow with staining. I’ve been told by two dentists they can’t be whitened. However, I’ve been taking a lot more care with my brushing over the past year and the staining has improved a little which has improved my confidence.
