What’s your family’s favourite home-cooked meal?

Just made my family their favourite, which is chicken breasts topped with homemade pesto, wrapped in pancetta and served on rice with a white wine and mushroom sauce and green veg.

If I’m honest, it’s not my favourite - it’s fine, but I prefer food with more kick to it - but DH, DD and DS all really love it, so I make it at least once a month.

What’s the smash hit in your house?

Fish pie, spag bol, Lancashire hot pot

Ooh yes, the hairy bikers sausage and black pudding hot pot is a big hit in this house. Hot pots are lush. Got to get those spuds a bit crispy on top.

I always have clean plates when I make a spaghetti bolognese. I’ve been making it once a fortnight for nigh on 20 years and everyone is always thrilled when it’s on the table. It bores me stupid. I always put a hot sauce on to give it a bit of a kick.

Every term holiday i dont even need to ask whether its summer or winter. Pasta mixed with chopped bacon, spinach and a tub of philadelpia (pref garlic n herb but thats my preference).

Another fave is leeks wrapped in honey roast ham with cheese sauce. Can’t recall if you put breadcrumbs on it but you do bake it.

my mother made that in the 70s and used to put crushed cheese and onion crisps on the top!
