And a £2m watch in a pub in Central London?! I’m sure someone will come on here and tell me I’m victim blaming but wtf was she thinking?

This is bonkers, why would anyone carry £2m of stuff around London in a work bag and without proper security?

Don’t we all have a work Faberge egg? I know I have one as well as my personal one.

Well naturally. Mines on my desk as we speak. I nearly got it mixed up with hairdressers one only last week as we both put them down on the reception desk while I was paying.

Pollyanna87 · 26/02/2026 13:45

I’m wondering if it’s a proper Fabergé egg or a ‘Fabergé egg’. Because I can’t imagine the egg would be insured for sitting in a handbag in a pub?

i never go anywhere without mine…..

Beat me to it lol

It’s a modern (genuine) Fabergé egg created in a tie-up with the whiskey company she works for.

WellHardly · 26/02/2026 13:38

That company does stupidly expensive ‘collections’ where you get a Celtic-themed Fabergé egg and rose gold watch along with your premium whiskey. Aimed ( apparently very successfully) at US bazilionaires with a soft spot for Ireland.

Ah, so it’s not a proper Fabergé egg. This makes more sense.

Bruisername · 26/02/2026 13:47

It’s interesting they named her. Whilst it wasn’t her fault - it does call into question her judgement

OvernightBloats · 26/02/2026 13:48

The whole story is dodgy as anything - wouldn't be surprised if she was involved somehow. Why did she have permission to take it anyway?

Insurance scam probably.

Bruisername · 26/02/2026 13:49

Tbh it sounds like he’s the fall guy.

ilovecardigans · 26/02/2026 13:50

The Graun headline writers on top form there - items including the Fabergé egg were 'poached'... 🤦‍♀️

Yes, lets all blame her for taking her handbag into a pub, and not the low-life scum who stole it.

It doesn't matter what was in the bag. Women should not be made to feel responsible for having crimes committed against them.

Well she was clearly very stupid?

in an ideal world yes, no one would steal. But we know that people steal and are dishonest.

yet she for some damn reason took 2m worth of stuff to the pub.

SpodeFan · 26/02/2026 13:53

I collect small antiques and I’m agog that someone carried a faberge egg around in a handbag!

Bruisername · 26/02/2026 13:56

I would have thought big burly security guard taking egg, whiskey and watch from heavily fortified suitcase is part of the buying experience. Not it being pulled out of a handbag with some tatty tissues hanging off it

JustPlainStanfreyPock · 26/02/2026 13:56

I wonder if the unicorn she left parked outside was stolen too?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/02/2026 14:01

I’m reminded of a Barbara Pym novel in which a new male cook-housekeeper keeps ‘borrowing’ a wealthy clergyman’s Faberge egg. At one point when bumping into someone he knows at the supermarket, he takes it from his pocket to show them, tosses it in the air, and catches it!

HighburyHope · 26/02/2026 14:04

I has no idea that Fabergé still produced “egg objets” as they call them.

They even made a Game of Thrones one. Just the egg for a post-imperial age, I suppose.

Busybeemumm · 26/02/2026 14:06

Hang are we all not carrying a Faberge egg with us in our handbags. I don't leave home without mine 😀

LVhandbagsatdawn · 26/02/2026 14:08

Many jewellery or precious metal dealers will carry stock around in old tatty plastic supermarket bags when taking inventory to or from shops and vaults.

It doesn't draw attention when you're walking down the street. Few muggers will attempt to wrestle an Aldi carrier off you.

Worked with antique jewellery for many years, saw this an awful lot. She was unlucky.

I don't think we are blaming her! We are just aghast at anyone doing this - woman or not.

Yeah lots of people think I have big boobs, but it’s just my Fabergé eggs giving me a boost.

I have 3 boobs, there is a reason for it.

Pricesandvices · 26/02/2026 14:10

I'm glad someone else wondered this. I saw the article yesterday, had to read it twice as it was so weird.

What the hell was she thinking?!

Topplace · 26/02/2026 14:12

It sounds like it was probably connected with her work, and in her bag with her work.

I probably wouldn't have gone to the pub that day, but if carrying the thing was normal for her, why wouldn't she?

Ilovemyshed · 26/02/2026 14:13

Much the same as the idiots who thought motorcycling across Iran would be a great idea and got arrested for spying 🤷🏽‍♀️ what were they thinking!

plentyofsunshine · 26/02/2026 13:31

Hmmm wonder if shes in on it and it's an insurance scam of some sort. I mean, I'm no victim blamer but that was bloody stuipid.

Unless she's got dementia or something.

Well, sometimes victims are just plain stupid!
