Nutrition geeks collagen glow up or elavate ?

Ok. So I’m been looking at trying some collagen powder as it’s everywhere at the moment but which is best? Both of these two are all over my social media so if anyone has actual good or bad reviews please let me know. Thanks

I tried the elavate sample but have decided to go with a hyaluronic acid and vitamin C supplement and then my usual unflavoured organic collagen powder from Amazon. I am a bit suspicious about quite how much elevate is being advertised atm.

Imenti · 25/02/2026 21:00

The unflavoured elevate I found disgusting! The chocolate one was alright but I didn't fancy a milkshake or hot choc everyday. Nutrition geeks much better - and much cheaper! Will still alter the flavour slightly of your tea/ coffee etc so I did end up binning it. My coffee is sacred!! I don't think I am destined for collagen!!

I had the Nutrition Geeks Collagen. I put it in my coffee and never found it affected the taste. However, I didn't notice any positive effects from it.

I have the unflavoured collagen from elavate in my coffee every morning. Can't taste it and I'm looking better. Can't say if it's better or worse than others - but in general, I would say I'm very sceptical about miracle powders. I'm impressed despite myself

Mind you, I reckon any hydrolysed collagen from a variety of sources would work as well? Especially combined with vit C

Portakalkedi · 25/02/2026 21:42

I know this is everywhere but it's been pretty thoroughly debunked, as with other trendy supplements.

Deathofprats · 26/02/2026 16:16

Thanks for responding everyone. It’s a bloody minefield. On the one hand I don’t want to get swept up with the latest snake oil but on the other lots of people seem to feel collagen has helped them.

Maybe I’ll give the nutrition geeks a go for a month or so, that way it’s not too much money down the pan and at least I can judge its effectiveness for myself. I appreciate you all taking the time to post

I can’t be doing with powders or subscriptions and I’d seriously avoid anything advertised on social media.

I’ve been very happy with Healthspan High Strength (1000mg) Marine Collagen tablets. Great quality and value for money. Also gorgeous packing, not that it matters.

Oblivionnnnn · 26/02/2026 16:27

Hasn’t this been shown to be totally ineffective??

I haven’t found it ineffective. Its not just about looks.

DuchessDandelion · 26/02/2026 16:36

I've seen a number of poor reviews for Elevate, it doesn't seem to live up to its promise. On the other hand , I've a few friends who use nutrition geeks collagen and swear it's improved their skin, hair and creaky joints.

My knees sound like ancient doors so I ordered some this week!

Bringmoresnacksplease · 26/02/2026 17:05

I take the nutrition geeks glow up collagen. You need to take it for a few months but I’ve not had my usual hip and knee pain or clicking in my knee joint when using the stairs. Usually in the cold weather it’s painful. Maybe a co incidence but it’s the only thing I’ve introduced and I’ve had arthritis for years.

rainbean · 26/02/2026 17:10

I definitely find collagen helps. It isn’t a miracle but it does have a positive effect. I have a bag of this one to try but haven’t started it yet. I too fear the heavy Instagram advertising! But wanted to see if the vitamin c made any difference.

rainbean · 27/02/2026 08:50

On closer inspection, it’s packed full of various other (presumably synthetic?) other vitamins, that I didn’t ask for. All my others are pure bovine collagen. I don’t like blindly supplementing so I won’t be getting any more. Also a very small packet and doesn’t look that professional. Just in case that helps anyone!

I didn’t mention looks.

The Elevate collagen blend has a huge biotin over-supplement in it, I'm not sure why, my theory is that this then improves hair and nails and everyone feels it's the collagen. I have used more basic collagen supplements off Amazon and felt they helped my joints, not sure about face although nothing's worsened!

LaMarschallin · 27/02/2026 09:45

Was listening to the radio this morning and apparently there is some evidence that collagen improves skin a little (doesn't stop wrinkles though).

Taking collagen keeps skin elastic but won't stop wrinkles, say scientists - BBC News

I don't take it at the moment but, having listened to that, came here to see what people have found most effective.

FlyHighLikeABird · 27/02/2026 09:50

@LaMarschallin , so you have elastic-looking wrinkles? I could live with that!

😄

Mmm...
Yes, not sure exactly how that would work out.
I was interested in the effects on joints too as I've developed a distinctly clicky knee on climbing the stairs but would also be grateful for any sort of positive skin benefit.
I suspect my wrinkles are here to stay though, elastic or not.

OK, you have the last word. Well done.

Sirzy · 27/02/2026 18:23

I use nutrition geeks and it works for me. I have dodgy knees and it has certainly reduced the creaking

Chewbecca · 27/02/2026 18:25

All over your social media doesn't make it a good product!

unsync · 27/02/2026 19:05

It's supposed to take about three months before you see an effect.

There was something on the beeb today about new research showing that it boosts elasticity and hydration, but won't stop wrinkles and it is not a quick fix. It may also help ease wear and tear, arthritis joint pain and stiffness.

WildFlowerBees · 28/02/2026 09:07

Collagen is a protein that when digested becomes amnio acids that are then taken to the parts of the body that needs the most protein, if you have dodgy joints but want it for skin it’s unlikely it’ll help.

Amber198 · 28/02/2026 09:10

I have the NG glow-up. I can definitely taste it in coffee and tea. I’ve been taking it since December and can’t say I have really noticed any difference in hair or skin. I got a three months supply so have kept going with it but not sure if i’ll buy it again. It does add a bit of protein to a smoothie or porridge but it’s expensive!

Amber198 · 28/02/2026 09:10

There’s also little evidence that it gets metabolised in a way that would help skin and hair
