Just like the Gisele Pelicot case, this time on British soil. It's heartbreaking, being betrayed so badly by the person you married, loved and trusted. WTF is wrong with some people?

'A man has been charged with drugging and sexually abusing his unconscious wife alongside a number of other men.
The husband, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces 48 counts including conspiracy to rape, sexual assault by penetration and conspiracy to administer a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence.
The case involves 12 other men ranging in age from 28 to 73, and involves allegations dating back to the early 2000s'

Just no. Women are still massively the safest people in society overall. Just the statistics of what you would expect to be completely normal from the criminal element (the thing that will always exist) of the stronger gender that makes up ~50% of everyone, should be vastly higher than it is right now. It's insane we have it as low as it is.

There's a difference between wanting to keep it low, and wanting to reduce it, and pretending there is something special about one gender that apparently makes it insane for them to be victims of crime just because it happens.

sex based crime against women?

Is this the second UK case? Wasn’t there one a month or two ago where the woman had waived her right to anonymity and the man was named?

I think she was coerced, rather than drugged until out cold. Not that it makes it any better of course.

I've been on MN for years and ages ago I remember reading a post from someone who knew her DH was taking (indecent) photos of her while he thought she was asleep .
When I read of a case like this I think of her and hope she's ok.

@MonsteraDeliciosa the thing is we are all animals and it's clear men have some pretty animalistic instincts devoid of morals etc.

It's very very clear let's face it ,girls and women are prey and act as such nearly every time we leave the sanctity of our homes. The lucky ones who are safe in their homes of course becsuee many arnt.

Every time we walk alone somewhere and at night stranded some where by a bus or late train having to get into a late train ,at work walking down the street and so on .

PaperTyger · 20/02/2026 22:09

Didn't a journo recently pretend she was drunk and alone to see what happened to her?what more evidence do we need that men need some pretty stiff education when it comes to women.

There is a charity going around to get into nursery to teach boys to be kind.

This.
Just in my small friendship group I know two people raped in Oxford, and one other who is an acquaintance who told me what had happened to her at Cambridge. I don’t know if her rape was reported, I didn’t ask her, but the other two were not reported. So there are three men, who at age 20/21 were raping girls at University. Men who their parents were proud of, men who probably left with a great degree and went on to good careers. Another friend of mine was regularly raped by her ex partner, who thought forcing her into sex was fine as they were a couple.
Then there is the boyfriend of someone I knew who tried to assault a teenage girl at a festival and was thankfully apprehended, but not by the police.
Dd has a male friend who said to me recently, when I was worried about her walking home, that the area is ‘very safe’ . The truth is that there is no very safe for women. Not even at home.

PerkyGreyWasp · 20/02/2026 22:47

I heard recently that somewhere in the region of 15% of men (surveyed in a representative sample of the UK/Australia/USA) admitted they would sexually abuse a child if they were guaranteed to not be caught.

And that's the ones that were honest to tell the truth? I wouldn't be shocked if it's higher.

Agree. I watched the child abuse Storyville and they said that since the US created the dark web peadophillia sites are just getting bigger and more shocking as the men try to out-do each other with content. If anything says we need to switch it off it is that.

I wouldn't describe them as animals.

It's true that many men, a staggering proportion, don't share the basic humanity we presume they have in common with us; they opt out of treating others as they'd like to be treated. They are, as you said, devoid of morals.
But while animals may fight others in their species (usually the same sex) over food, territory, mates etc. this brute violence we're seeing here, this sexual violence, for nothing other than sheer perverted pleasure, seems to be uniquely and depressingly human.

Snootsnoot · 20/02/2026 23:13

It's empathy they lack. Add testosterone which basically makes them copy the worst things they see that appear powerful to them and you have a biological minefield. Really we should be thankful there are 10% (ish) who seem to be able to control themselves and work on enlarging the empathy areas of their brain.

I agree, animals fight over survival and necessity. Human sexual violence has nothing to do with anything other than having power over another person imo. Cruelty is a human trait too.

Yes, but describing depraved men as "animals" doesn't adequately portray their depravity: no other species of animal behaves like this.

It almost sounds like an excuse too.
To be honest, I feel sorry for the animals being compared to humans. They are far better creatures.

The giselle pelicot case shocked me, not because her husband thought of such a perverted idea, but that so many men (in a pretty small locality) were on board with it.....but if it can happen there, I guess it can happen anywhere. Its really depressing.

Yes, and from all walks of life. We like to think that educated men wouldn't do this, but there was a banker, a nurse, a soldier, journalist, manager, IT worker...

I think even her next door neighbour was one of them. As you say, it's really depressing.

And that’s men self reporting about their behaviour around children online. Given the taboo around abusing children I’d assume their behaviour with women was worse.

There was a survey of men in the States which described various behaviours and asked whether they had or would do them. It was appalling. Given the opportunity, they were generally happy to use women’s bodies without consent.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 21/02/2026 08:27

54.4% of males interpreting "no response" as consent.

climbintheback · 21/02/2026 09:58

The number of vigilante groups catching not only dregs of society but teachers and doctors who want to meet 12 year old girls for sex is massive.
