Just like the Gisele Pelicot case, this time on British soil. It's heartbreaking, being betrayed so badly by the person you married, loved and trusted. WTF is wrong with some people?

'A man has been charged with drugging and sexually abusing his unconscious wife alongside a number of other men.
The husband, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces 48 counts including conspiracy to rape, sexual assault by penetration and conspiracy to administer a substance with intent to commit a sexual offence.
The case involves 12 other men ranging in age from 28 to 73, and involves allegations dating back to the early 2000s'

It beggars belief, it really does. Heartbreaking and scary.

Jesus Christ. I'm 57 now and have reached the point in my life where I no longer believe that most people are actually pretty decent. I think it's only the minority that are.

And, yes, by people I mean men.

Because it names his wife.

Yes. I believe the same.

Seems as though there will be a stream of them to catch up as it’s been going on for years.

I wonder whether these prosecutions are due to information gained in the Pelicot case? Maybe a website/chat room has been found and monitored so bringing these cases to court.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 20/02/2026 16:57

After the case in Scotland where a girl was killed by her brother and her body sexually assaulted by the first man to find her, and other cases where perpetrators have joined in someone else’s abuse (a hotel case?), I’ve come to believe that it’s maybe 50/50 with ordinary men committing sex crimes if they think they’ll get away with it.

I suspect we’ve taught men that they must behave in order to sustain social relationships, rather than because women have rights.

Happytaytos · 20/02/2026 17:03

Why are they not naming him?

I'm not legal minded, why would some defendants be asked not to enter a plea?

Vile individuals.

YorkieTheRabbit · 20/02/2026 17:11

@Happytaytos if they name the vile shit, his poor wife will be outed.

Either to protect the anonymity of his wife or because there are other investigations or court procedures involving him going on in tandem. I think.

Happytaytos · 20/02/2026 17:15

Ahh yes of course, makes sense. Scumbag.

I'm 56 and feel exactly the same. I don't trust any man I'm afraid and I'm so glad I'm single.

Same here, the longer I live the more cynical and disillusioned I become. Just one example, when I check out the local news online, there are endless court reports of violence, stabbings, domestic abuse, sexual offending, child abuse, robbery and burglary, the majority of it committed by men. Yes men are victims but they are victims of other men. I live in a medium sized city. I have been a victim of sexual assault by a stranger while I was walkng home from work and last summer my adult child was beaten up by two (male) strangers in an unprovoked attack in the city centre. We are still waiting for the sentencing which has now been deferred

That poor girl, Amber Gibson. Five months before her brother attempted to rape her and then murdered her she had been raped by some one else. And then she was sexually assaulted by the guy who found her. Her biological father was a convicted rapist as well.It makes me want to weep.

Thanks MNHQ, I didn't think of adding content warning. Apologies to all.

There's a huge layer of male society that would get up on their granny if they could get away with it. Those men who appear not to be like that are artificially suppressing it I think.

I'm 68 and there's little I haven't seen or heard at this stage, but the sheer volume of male violence and sexual assault against women is absolutely staggering.

And then we have the men masquerading as women which reduces the real statistics aswell.

I don't know, it's just unreal and it's all around us, but we don't see it up front. Those poor women, and the Epstein horror, and well I could go on.

That’s right. Even worse than I’d already said. A child surrounded by sexual violence.

TomatoSandwiches · 20/02/2026 17:38

Men are a problem and they should all be seen as such until the prove otherwise imo.

DestinedToBeOutlived · 20/02/2026 17:44

Nothing surprises me anymore about men, not one single thing.

This case is horrific and I hope this woman has a lot of support and help around her while she tries to come to terms with this.

I'm sure there will be plenty of NAMALTers along in a bit, but isn't it amazing that these abusive rapists all happen to find each other so easily. Almost like it's pretty common to think rape is fine as long as you think you won't get caught. If only it was so easy to find men actively speaking out against it rather and encouraging other men to do the same. They don't listen to us so our only chance is to have some men speaking out too but there aren't enough by far, silence is not enough, we need activism.

Just no. Women are still massively the safest people in society overall. Just the statistics of what you would expect to be completely normal from the criminal element (the thing that will always exist) of the stronger gender that makes up ~50% of everyone, should be vastly higher than it is right now. It's insane we have it as low as it is.

There's a difference between wanting to keep it low, and wanting to reduce it, and pretending there is something special about one gender that apparently makes it insane for them to be victims of crime just because it happens.
