Mine is amongst others that carbonara should only ever be made with long pasta, none of your penne, or fusili nonsense.

Burrata on pizza is an abomination, an absolute con. Make a fine pizza and then stick a huge lump of stone cold soft cheese in the middle that when you cut it open sends chilly slime over your previously hot pizza, making it both cold and soggy. Just NO.

Edited

I adore burrata but yes, get it off a pizza.

I’m 57, a bit overweight and I look bloody marvellous in dungarees! I have loads. I’m wearing a very chunky denim pair at this precise moment!

WLIs are fantastic. Does the poster from “the clinic” slamming them not realise that obesity is a huge (no pun intended) health risk, contributing to and/or exacerbating lots of serious conditions?

I’d be interested to know how many people who have taken them are actually obese. It seems a lot of people who take them do it to lose a stone or 2 so they can be a size 10 or 12 again instead of a 14. If they want to do that, I have no issues with it, just like if someone chooses to smoke/vape, it’s their body. I believe I class as obese (5’8” and just under 14.5 stone) but I won’t be touching WLIs. Many reasons, but one of them being that other than being a bit too heavy and perhaps I could “look better”, I am perfectly fit and healthy and I wouldn’t want to gamble on some possible future side effects. I just worry they are too good to be true tbh!

Simple in the head?

What a wonderful way to show your lack of ability for reasonable conversation mate!

At least it shows you can be ignored completely, otherwise some very few might have taken notice of your ridiculous statement!

Funny how the only one on here being nasty to other posters is a man. Hmm

Learning BSL should be compulsory in schools and all medical settings.

@therewasafishinthepercolator you just reminded me: what you said about biscoff, but for salted caramel. I like normal caramel dammit, and it's been competely supplanted by salted 😡

Yes, agreed! I almost put salted caramel and Biscoff in my post but I have too many hills. And I'm particularly bitter about Creme Eggs being destroyed and people telling me that the Biscoff egg is a formidable alternative. It's not.

That so many people don't know the different between "past" and "passed". Drives me mad.

A local car park has a sign that says "no parking passed here"!!!!

I don't agree that yorkshire puddings should only be eaten with roast beef. They can and should be eaten with every roast and definitely with Christmas dinner

A bungalow isn’t necessarily disability friendly, and other types of property aren’t necessarily disability exclusive though?

And almost any property can be made accessible for the right person.

That’s really a hill worth giving up on.

Totally disagree. No planning permission should be given for a first floor on a bungalow. It makes the house unaffordable for retired and disabled people.

Oh yes, I definitely agree with that. It really should be. So much easier to learn as a child.

As I’m getting older, I don’t believe that old people automatically deserve the upmost respect because they’re “sweet little old men/women” Not everyone grows old with wisdom, some people stay morons all of their damn life.

People who don’t know the difference between utmost and upmost are not permitted to criticise their elders and betters

SmudgeButt · 19/02/2026 18:11

envelopes are stationEry, not stationAry. unless Royal Mail is out on strike.

I mentioned this to the woman who was organising the rebranding of a national company I worked for that she kept talking about how we had to get rid of our stationary stock on a particular date. I mentioned it politely and discreetly (i.e. didn't include the 200 other employees included on the email). She didn't correct it and she didn't respond.

And no fruit should ever be paired with chocolate, not orange, not strawberries. Nuts are fine. And bananas as they aren't like other fruit. You can put strawberries or raspberries with white chocolate as it isn't actually chocolate.

Tell me about it. Pretty grim. Can't get away.

murasaki · 19/02/2026 18:11

It's perfectly fine to pour gravy into your Yorkshire pudding. You still get a crispy bit, and now a nice soft gravy soaked bit too.

Stares sternly at DP, for whom not doing this is a hill on which he will die.

totally disagree with your logic. a first floor makes it affordable to people who are looking after aged parents while giving them their own space. And in fact our bungalow with an upper floor with 2 bedrooms (though one is the size of a closet) and a bathroom, plus another bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and a huge garden cost only slightly more than a new build bungalow around the corner which has a bathroom, one bedroom and one other room which is the lounge/dining area/kitchen and has no garden.

Strngerthings · 19/02/2026 18:16

Custardy25 · 19/02/2026 17:39

Mine is that destination weddings are usually a way to transfer costs from the couple to the guests.

My nephew is getting married in a country house hotel a 3 hours drive from the city that the couple, both sets of parents and all their friends live, because, according to my DSis, it's £50 per head cheaper than the places they liked that are in or near the city we all live in.

So 100 guests will have to travel for 3 hours and stay at least one overnight in a hotel - it's in the middle of no where, so it's likely going to be in the wedding hotel or guest lodges in the grounds, which are not cheap!

So with travel and accommodation costs, guests will have to spend at least £150 each to save the couple £50 per guest.

thats good business from the couples side

Only animal abusers, not abusers of other humans?

My hill .... that was my answer. Away and pick holes with someone else ffs

HeadyLamarr · 19/02/2026 18:17

The Winter Olympics are far better than the Summer Olympics.

Summer Olympics is too much like P.E. or Sports Day.

WhatterySquash · 19/02/2026 18:19

Flight is not a superpower. A superpower is something you can already do, to a “super” level, like x ray vision or extra sensitive hearing. Humans can’t fly so flight is not a superpower. This is regular argument in our house.

But people can (mostly) jump, so flying is just super-jumping!

Anyway.

Humans can't change sex, and claiming to be something you're not and cannot be shouldn't be a protected characteristic. In fact, making it a protected characteristic is discriminatory since you don't get special treatment for any other kind of claiming to be something you're not. You just get potentially done for fraud.

You do NOT fecking "go shops" you go TO THE shops. And so on. I'll still be ranting on about this when I'm 95 and everyone has stopped saying "to the" except me but I don't care.

You are not allowed to post anything negative about WLIs.

For some reason, posters cannot cope with the idea that they may cause side effects or long term weight gain.

Not what he said, but I doubt he’ll call you simple in the head, because you’re agreeing with him.

He said essentially death.

WhatterySquash · 19/02/2026 18:22

Oh and artificial sweeteners have a LOT to answer for and I confidently predict will be found to be causing all kinds of health problems and will be banned, like what happened with smoking. And I am not saying that in a woo/lentil-weaver kind of way, but in a sciency way.

ETA I realise smoking isn't actually banned, but YKWIM. Not allowed in foods or marked with huge health warnings.

If it has or has ever had a penis it has no business in a female space, no matter the age

What about the male babies/toddlers/young children of lone parent mothers?
Are we supposed to just leave our child unattended outside the ladie’s toilets or make them go in the men’s toilets alone in your world?
What a bizarre and stupid comment.
