I am trying to eat healthier, reduce sugar & UPFs but struggling with biscuits as I love them. Any alternatives I am unaware of, happy to bake too.

I give my kids cocoa rice cakes in lieu of biscuits. They're actually pretty tasty.

You can go further. Open the date, do the nut thing, then roll in peanut butter, freeze, then roll in melted dark chocolate.

Or, ‘date bark’ - butterfly the medjool dates and press them into a sheet layer. Then spread a layer of peanut butter, then a layer of melted dark chocolate. Sprinkle with nice salt and fridge til chocolate set, cut into orgasmic squares of joy. Just don’t be like DH and eat the whole tray claiming ‘it’s healthy’.

Peanut butter , banana cookies - loads of recipes online. No sugar needed. Some recipes with oats if you like them.

Buy grapes, wash them and bag them up and stash in the freezer...take out a bag when you want a quick healthy snack.

Gingercar · 10/02/2026 23:10

I’ve cut out most processed food and refined sugar since May (most of the time!). My snack that has replaced my chocolate addiction is grapes in full fat Greek yogurt with a sprinkling of pumpkin and sunflower seeds. I absolutely love it and have it every day.

LadyLucksalot · 11/02/2026 08:38

A square of good quality dark chocolate. After a while, it will make milk chocolate seem incredibly sickly.

Although, in all honesty, I love biscuits. I make my own mostly so I know exactly what's in them. Also, the effort involved in making them means I savour each one way more than I would a supermarket one. Packet bisciuts aren't the same at all.

Loads of recipes on line for sugar free and sugar alternative baking. Try Big man’s world, sugar free Londoner, cookie + Kate etc.

i love the whole date, banana, pb, dark chocolate ‘bark’ however found it very moreish! Used to make homemade granola bars too but again couldn’t stop eating them 😂

I'm losing weight so I have to weigh nuts and dried fruit to make sure I stay within my daily calorie limit.

My favourite snack is 15 g of nuts (rotating through walnuts, pecans, almonds, pistachios, Brazils, macadamia, peanut, cashew) a single square of Lindt 90% chocolate (I dip it in hot coffee and slurp off the melty bit) and either a serving of fresh fruit (pear, nectarine, golden kiwi, half a banana, sable grapes, fresh berries) or dried fruit (goji berries, dried black mulberries, chopped dried apricots, figs, dates, prunes, mango) with a pint mug of black coffee or tea (black, purple, green, oolong, mint, camomile) after 12 o'clock.

Ringing the changes through different varieties of nuts and fruits is appreciated by the gut microbiome, and it's a lot easier to lose weight if your gut microbes are on side.

Mash a banana, stir in 40g oats and little bit of dried fruit.
Press into rounds on baking tray ( you'll need to line it ) and bake at 200 15-20 mins.
Should get 5-6 biscuits out of it.
The texture is not for everybody but see what you think!
Nothing will ever beat a McVities digestive to my way of thinking but I make these when I need to drop a couple of pounds.
I tried a savoury snack recently which is -
drain the liquid off a nice cottage cheese then dollop onto baking parchment in rounds . Bake as above but for about 25-30 mins till the edges get a bit crispy.
Recipes are on various sites online.

passmeaglass · 11/02/2026 17:46

After dinner I do 1 of 2 things - handful of my granola which is no added sugar (bio and me) or I have one of my sons toddler biscuits. They satisfy my craving for something sweet and no nasties or sugar in them. The gingerbread men and gruffalo biscuits are surprisingly ok!

APatternGrammar · 11/02/2026 17:50

Apple pie baked porridge with apple compote (choose a recipe without sugar)

Freshcoffeeonly · 11/02/2026 17:58

Medjool dates are 70 calories each! 70! Wish someone had pointed that out to me earlier.

MrTwisterHasABlister · 10/02/2026 18:06

Medjool dates with a smidge of good quality peanut butter where the stone would have been are a good ‘healthy’ sweet hit.

If you freeze these they are incredible! Taste like snickers.

I snack on nuts and seeds usually, or a Granny Smith with nut butter 👌🏻

Ariela · 11/02/2026 18:06

I would go cold turkey on snacks. Once you have it's easy to maintain. Just ask yourself is it mealtime/ - yes = get food no = wait till meal time.

Needlenardlenoo · 11/02/2026 18:23

Cashew nuts are my fave snack. I'm gluten intolerant and GF biscuits are expensive and often horrible.
