Break a woman’s spine with a sledge hammer on video and….

noblegiraffe · 05/02/2026 10:31

Despite you obviously doing it and the video being available for everyone to watch, the jury will be unable to reach a verdict as to whether you did it or not.

Whatever your opinion on Palestine, this should be absolutely shocking. That poor woman was just doing her job.

Honestly, when they talk about getting rid of trial by jury, this sort of thing goes a long way to convincing me that it’ll be no loss.

I cannot believe the number of posters trying to defend this verdict.

Imagine how you'd feel I'd this was a loved one whose spine had been broken?

I'm pretty sure your opinion of not guilty would change. This woman was doing her job. They are the criminals, not her, so why has she been punished by being let down by the justice system?

It beggars belief, it really does!

Whatever your political leanings, and imho both sides have done things that they shouldn't have at times and in the past; no one deserves what happened to this policewoman, and no one should feel afraid to attend mass/functions, or be worried about carrying out their job.

I actually think the whole Israel/Palestine thing is completely irrelevant in this case - swop Palestine Action for any other group, such as Just Stop Oil, and it’s still deplorable.

I do admire some people’s attempts to blame Jews though. Adolf would be so proud of you!

The point of a jury trial is that you are tried by a jury of your peers, people who are from your community. That's what makes the trial fair. It's a cross section of society, so you have a selection of young, middle aged and old, all with different views and perspectives. The issue we have now is that there are a lot of ideologues and activists and it takes one or two to be selected for the jury to sit on a case. Jury trials are an 800+ year old tradition. The alternative to jury trials is that you're not tried by a jury of your peers, therefore you're not given a fair trial and instead are subject to the judgement of.... the judge. It's a very dark path to be going down imo.

MaturingCheeseball · 05/02/2026 18:46

I was talking to someone involved with public order regarding the marches in London. He said that certain agitators goad police officers, spit in their faces, assault them, film them and do anything to provoke a reaction.

Another thing that made me concerned about the validity of trial by jury was watching the Round Tables on Traitors.

Oh god yes
There’s been some amazing social commentary on biases based on race, words, looks etc.
The fact so many of them shirked actual evidence and focussed on how someone worded a sentence, is how I imagine jury rooms to go

Yes, I still think a jury of 12 prejudiced peers is fairies than 1 prejudiced judge.

I feel how Italy does it (a mix of lay people with those who have legal experience overseeing everything) is a much better system. Then again, look at Amanda Knox. No system is safe it would seem

It was someone on this thread.

Oh right, well if there are posters here who think his defence was reasonable then I strongly disagree with them. FWIW I hope they are all retried, successfully prosecuted and given custodial sentences. I hope Corner is given a very long sentence. I hope PA remains a proscribed terrorist organisation.

I'm just really alarmed at some of the stuff that's being directed at the jury. There are reasonable ways they could have ended up with these verdicts and non-verdicts that do not involve jury bias, corruption or intimidation.

x-posted from the other thread:

Perhaps the jury was biased, we will never know. I don't think so because no verdict means they couldn't agree. Probably there were some people with very strong views on both sides of what is an intensely polarising issue.

We do know that like every other jury they were picked randomly and had no choice but to turn up and serve on whatever case they were allocated.

It's been a long trial, conducted under intense public scrutiny. Never mind the posters, the jurors have had to walk through protests on their way in to court and at times have heard evidence against a background of noise from the protest. They will have been told to avoid the media but can hardly have avoided knowing that there was a judicial review going on, or that there were big protests and mass arrests in support of PA, or that there were hunger strikes FFS! Honestly I don't know how I would deal with the kind of pressure they must have been under.

And then they come out of this long, gruelling process and face a barrage of appalling things being said about them. People want them named and shamed, they want pictures so they can see what race they are. They want the jury locked up, strung up.

I think people don't want juries, they want scapegoats.

There will very likely be retrials on at least some of the charges and there are several more trials to come for Filton and Brize Norton. There will no doubt be future trials for future offences. Any of us could be picked next time.

My friend’s DH is a police officer and is deployed to London now and again (we’re in Yorkshire) for the protests. He says the pro-Pals and also the Tommy Robinson supporters are the biggest aggressors and are very provocative. And pro-Iran supporters are very peaceful!

She was using her hands. Which is basically the same as a sledgehammer apparently.

Thank you

The way some people have been defending this, I was genuinely wondering if the police officer was trying to strangle the protester.

Thank you to the poster who has provided some case notes

Sadly, I think this case really is just as horrific as I'm imagining. The main question now is bribery, corruption, intimidation... or the kind of issues mentioned by @FMLGFastMovingLuxuryGoods

I agree it shouldn't have come into it, and that was the point I was making. Political leanings shouldn't come into court...

I'm not sure if your last comment was aimed at me, but I've in no way blamed Jewish people for this.

The defendants should've been found guilty, and I'm shocked that they weren't.

It’s a really horrible video to watch and, other than the attack itself, what made my blood run cold is that the officer grabbed the sledgehammer after she was attacked and pulled it downwards as he was CLEARLY trying to raise it again.

Also the security officer footage shows how the “protesters” charged towards him, totally unfazed, as he was telling them to stop, doing what looks like a Nazi salute.

But yeah they’re just defending <checks notes> Palestinians (who were nowhere to be seen) and a woman who was simply being handcuffed

Sorry the post did make it sound like I meant “you” but it meant the dodgy posters.

If anyone wants a good laugh, here’s part of the closing statements from the sledgehammer attacker’s (Corner) defence barrister (Wainwright):

Wainwright told the court that Corner was in "an unfamiliar place, an unfamiliar scenario, alarms going off, with a liquid toxic smell to the air".

"Imagine how Mr Corner would have been feeling," Wainwright said.

He also described Corner as a “caring, gentle and compassionate man, an academic, an Oxford graduate, a mathematician, a linguist and a philosopher".

I mean who is falling for this absolute bullshit?

Imagine how he must have felt? Imagine - the consequences of his own actions.

Then again rapists are often painted as victims in court so it’s hardly surprising

PencilsInSpace · 05/02/2026 20:15

This is good for anyone wanting to understand more about the legal principles relating to the offences:

Hard to tell though isnt it, when police have a history of embedding themselves in protest groups and being the instigators of violence

Eyes filled with pepper spray, guard brutality, twice tazered...huge context here

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DUWXilpDD-6/?igsh=MXU5am9kdTlzMGNvZA==

How did you expect intruders with weapons to be treated? A cup of tea and a sandwich?

once upon a time there was a collective agreement of “fuck around and find out”. Now we have to treat violent criminals with kindness if they say “Palestine”

But having watched the video - it’s hilarious you think this is proof. that’s not “huge context”, it’s the deluded mother of a criminal sticking up through the means of lies. Same Corner was blinded by pepper spray was he?! Funny how he wasn’t so blind he couldn’t get a direct hit in Kate Evans back.

Tried to de-escalate the violence 🤣 by resisting arrest and attacking people? Sure.

As for “They tasered my daughter and it hurt her” - good!! maybe if she’d taught her that actions have consequences she wouldn’t be so surprised that committing burglary means the police will stop you.

What this video shows is the effects of inadequate parenting

Very neutral source, well done 👏🏼

From what I have seen, police let pro-Pal violence slide and arrest Jews for wearing a “provocative” Star of David.

Jews are wholly unprotected, police are overwhelmed and my regions suffer because of the Pro-Pal clowns taking police resources away so they can virtue signal rather than showering on a Saturday
